Firefox starts to process URLs with .exe in them as downloads instead of pages.

I use an online database system that was written and compiled using CGI for VB. All URLS have .exe in them (for example http://www.website.com/record.exe?a=SMITH). I can work for hours without problem in Firefox, but then apparently random Firefox will start prompting me to dialogue 'Save', as if I was trying to download the .exe rather than simply load the URL. The only way to return to normal is to quit the browser and open it again. After that it is fine... for awhile anyway.

Clear the cache and cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • Hello, is it possible to make Firefox copy non-Latin URLS in the address bar in full instead of encoded in percentage?

When I copy a url in the address bar in the clipborad and paste it elsewhere, it is truncated. This is particularly annoying when trying to someone send a link to a non-English wikipedia article (or other sites with the "descriptive" URLS.) is there a way to disable this option?

To avoid that you can place a character like a '-' to the far left of the address bar and select the URL without leading the hyphen.

  • I can't get rid of the Firefox start page even if I continue to put in my own home page.

Suddenly, earlier today, the Firefox start page appears when I open Firefox. I tried several times to return to my own homepage through TOOLS, OPTIONS or by drag-and - drop. Whenever I get close and reopen, it comes back to its own Start Page for Firefox. I don't want to, I want my own hpmepage.

    Hey Hey,

    Try the following:

    (1) go to Subject: config (type in the address bar).

    (2) enter.

    (3) search browser.startup.homepage.

    (4) this variable controls what page is loaded when you start Firefox.

If its value is Subject: Home, you can change this value on the site that you want to load at startup. If not, try this:

    Citing cor - el:

Have you checked the target line in the properties of the desktop Firefox shortcut?

       "Show my home page"
       "Show a blank page"

To change this Web site, it opens when you open a new tab, do the same thing but with browser.newtab.url.

Are you talking about topic: newtabs page?

Type of topic: config< enter > in the address bar.
If a warning screen is displayed, press the button to be careful .
At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.newtab.url
This indicates what to show when a new tab opens Firefox.
If you want, right click and select Edit. You can change the setting

    topic: Home (Default Firefox homepage),
on: newtab (displays the more visited sites),
    Subject: vacuum (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or Subject: page you want.

The same instructions are used to the new setting of the window, classified
    browser.startup.homepage.

  • Process of Firefox starts but doesn't show main window

    Hello

Since a few days, I can't start Firefox. The beginning of the process, but hangs with a memory fixed space and zero CPU usage, and the main window simply will not start. No accident report is created. Kill the process and try again is the only option.

I tried to start Firefox as administrator, which works (but is not recommended from a security perspective), and the fact Firefox start when Windows is in safe mode. Firefox also starts when TrendMicro OfficeScan processes are stopped, but it is hardly a solution in a commercial environment, be admin on my machine is already a special case.

Periodically, events, Firefox starts, but the next time that the issue is back.

After trying several methods of troubleshooting, I tried to perform a clean installation, nothing helps:
-Remove Mozilla of App Data records (roaming and local)
    -Uninstall Firefox
-Remove possibly remaining Mozilla Firefox in Program Files (x 86)
    -Run CCleaner
    -Restart
    -Re-install

Currently I am looking in a procedure that could help me determine with certainty if OfficeScan is actually guilty and try to prove to my IT Department in order to the make degenerate into TrendMicro. Of course, if OfficeScan is not guilty, to find that a solution would be too perfect...

    System information:
    -Windows 7 Enterprise SP1
    -TrendMicro OfficeScan
-Firefox latest version, 40.0.2 for the moment, the stub Installer.

An alternative to consider is the Extended Support Release (ESR) version of Firefox? It is based on Firefox 38 but receives security patches at intervals similar to the standard version. Enterprise software providers can use this trial version (I guess they test...).

You can learn more about ESE here: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/

    To install it, I suggest:

    Clean reinstall it

We use this name, but it isn't about deleting your settings, this is to ensure that the program, files are clean (not incompatible, corrupt or exotic code files). As described below, this process does not disrupt your existing settings. Don't uninstall NOT Firefox, that does not need.

    (A) download a fresh Installer for Firefox 38.2.0esr of https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/all/ in an ideal location. (Scroll down your preferred language).

    (B) the release of Firefox (if any).

    (C) to rename the program folder, either:

    (Windows 64-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Fx40

    (Windows 32-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files\Fx40

    (D) run the installer downloaded to (A). It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

    Install and run?

Note: Some plugins can only exist in the old folder. If it is missing something essential, present in these files:

    • \Fx40\Plugins
    • \Fx40\browser\plugins
  • Firefox starts with additional tabs

Every day when I start Firefox there are two additional tabs that contain information about the synchronization and how well Firefox combines with Windows 10. I don't want that. I just want a tab. I can't find the answer to this question on the forum. Can someone help me?

Hi, Firefox is able to open multiple home pages with the URL separated by a "pipe" (|), please see - How to set the home pageand in "Home Page", make sure that in addition to the URL of your homepage, is not something else - if there is, just delete it. (The Firefox start page is Subject: House but you can set a different, or the page tab is on: newtab).

If it's easier, you can just click Restore default instead.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

    Hello

Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP, if you do not already have one.

More information can be found in the article troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malware .

This solve your problems? Please report to us!

    I hope this helps!

  • If I created my iPad to the text can I communicate with someone who is not an apple product?  If yes where can I start the process?

If I created my iPad to the text can I communicate with someone who is not an Apple product?  If so, where should I start this process. She is studying how to set up his tablet to the text for me. Is this possible?  Explicit detail please... I am new to this. Thank you.

To be able to not text on an iPad Apple devices, you need an associated iPhone to the Apple ID, the iPad is using.

Read the following support document SMS since it deals with sending SMS through continuity.

Continuity allows you to connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac - Apple Support

With continuity, all SMS and MMS text messages that you send and receive on your iPhone may also appear on your Mac, iPad, and iPod touch. You can also meet your contacts from any device is closer to you, including your iPad or Mac.

  • Process * \MCSHIELD. EXE the nest (428) contained code signed or corrupted and could not perform an operation with a McAfee driver.

    XP SP3 system

I get warnings like this when Mcafee updates.

Process * \MCSHIELD. EXE the nest (428) contained code signed or corrupted and could not perform an operation with a McAfee driver.

Process * \SVCHOST. EXE the nest (1632) contained code signed or corrupted and could not perform an operation with a McAfee driver.

Is this a problem Microsoft or Mcafee?

    Do I need to fix?

In the McAfee forums, there are several similar positions such as:

    https://community.McAfee.com/message/241542

I'll sue your question on in their community, as they already seem to know about it.

I would also say that, unless you are very fond of McAfee or you are forced to use it, you plan to replace it with something that has a smaller footprint, uses less resources and doesn't have these problems - something like Microsoft Security Essentials, you can get here:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Security-Essentials-download

MSE completed with the free version of MBAM and SAS should permanently keep your clean enough unless you're a daredevil like me:

Download, install, update and do a quick scan with these free malware detection programs (not at the same time) and remove all threats:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

SAS will probably report a lot of tracking cookies and you can just let him delete them.

Even if you keep McAfee, I always supplement it with MBAM and SAS since no single AV program does seem to know everything.  If your McAfee of your system is clean, I would interpret that means - McAfee found nothing, says he knows.  It is prudent to use more than a reputable scanner to get more coverage.

If you choose to spend (and you can't have both at the same time), you must be sure to use the uninstaller that you can get from here:

    http://service.McAfee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?LC=1033&ID=TS101331

Your system will give you better performance.

You can check the setting of the home page.

Firefox supports several home pages separated by ' |' symbol (pipe).

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profiles folder that stores the session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and open tabs, and you need to recreate them, so possibly make a note or bookmarks.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
