• Questions to install VMware Workstation

  Hello everyone and thank you for your interest in my post.  For the last 6 months I spent reviewing messages to build and run a secure Channel 5 on a laboratory at home and collected a lot of information.  Budget delays I am not near my goal I thought I'd be so I thought I would get something on my current equipment with VMware Workstation.

  I got a 64 bit Windows 7 with Intel I7 processor gaming computer and wanted to add Workstation 8 or 9 now that it is out.  Finally, I would like to build some virtual labs, but now want to get running in the virtual world.

  Help for the following questions would be appreciated.

  1 install Workstation 8 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer or do a clean install on the computer and run a Windows 7 as a virtual machine?

  If a clean install Workstation 8 or 9 is recommended how could I get my image of Windows 7 today converted to a virtual machine before the clean install?

  Guess the question would be, is I there a VM tool that can convert an image of current computer hardware in a virtual machine so that I can run on a new installation of VMware Workstation 9?

  2. what steps should be taken to migrate from a hardware configuration to a configuration of the VM on the same box?

  3. what risks are there to lose data?

  4. what license issued or limitations can I exect meet when I create several virtual machines, alias windows, Linux and others?  Can you build and run several different VMS at the same time?

  5. return to the VM tools, I know on the side of Vsphere there are tools to create virtual machines for ESXi, but what tools are there for Workstation 8 or 9 build and run virtual machines?

  That ye may know that my training and the ability to understand your answers I was in the field of information technology since 1990.  Currently, I am a network engineer and have experience as a non-virtuelle system administrator installs computer and server and operation.

  Since you are a "Network Engineer and have experience as a system administrator" then IMO shouldn't really ask!   How hard is it to type 'physical to virtual' in Google and get to VMware vCenter Converter?  Also read the documentation on it as well as VMware Workstation!   Yes I know you said "on non-virtuelle installs computer and server and operation" however do practically is fundamentally not different then do it physically, although with virtualization, there are additional methods that can be used, as using an ISO Image vs optical media to install from, etc.  Seriously with your course, you should be able to install VMware Workstation, browse and examine the different menu commands and create VM almost without having to read the documentation however takes the time to at least he skim initially and then jump in.    As a tip activate everything installs Windows without first installing VMware Tools, if you plan to install VMware Tools in the virtual machine, and wait until you are sure that you have configured as you want, and then select as appropriate.

  One thing you'll need to do if you are using the latest version of VMware vCenter Converter you will need to select the correct mass storage controller as you walk through the wizard because it is by default in the IDE and you want LSI SAS with Windows 7.

• Why VMware WS 9 does not save its information in "~/vmware" with 12.04.1 Ubuntu 64-bit.

  I just bought the upgrade of VMware 9 for use with Ubuntu 12.04.1 64-bit.

  The installation was smooth and I created 2 virtual machines (Ubuntu 10.04.4 64-bit) and Windows 7 64-bit and installed the VMware tools on both of them.

  But whenever I run VMware Workstation, I have a panel of the dialog box to accept the end user agreement!

  In addition, every time I want to start one of these 2 VM, VMware says: ' VMware Workstation should store user preferences and other information contained in the directory "~/.vmware".» You want to continue although VMware Workstation could not create this directory? ".

  Just after this first message, VMware said " install the VMware tools inside this virtual machine package. The repressive operations prompt starts, then select VM > install VMware Tools... and follow the instructions. "

  What is the problem and why VMware is unable to create its own "~/.vmware" directory and store its own information, like the fact that I have already installed the famous VMware Tools inside of my 2 VMs or already accepted the end-user agreement package?

  Any help would be greatly appreciated because the use of VMware Worksation as it's really boring.

  I had problems with the interface web vmware server 2. When I first install vmware server 2 on a clean system, it works fine. However, after a reboot, the web interface is more accessible to the general public.

  When I do

  "netstat - anp |" grep vm ' I see port 902 listening however ports 8222 and 8333.

  SELInux is disabled, I also turned to IPtables and ip6tables as well as fedora firewall.

  I tried rerun vmware - config.pl, however this does not resolve the issue. I also tried to restart the management interface and that does not work either.

  I had same problem - Fedora 14 64 bit & vmware 2.0.2... and nothing on google :-/

  Because I have not found a solution for this problem, so I wrote this post (my first btw :-))

  After you install vmware (and patch before), everything works well before the first server to restart. After reboot - web access (port 8222 & 8333) has not worked.

  For me, it has worked:

  (1) check if vmware - spend is running (when vmware service is started):

  # ps to the | grep vmware - pass

  --------------------------

  root of 1752 0.0 0.6 50760 225708?        SSL 14:36 0:01 / usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-hostd - a d u - /etc/vmware/hostd/config.xml

  (2) If vmware - spend does not, try to run vmware - pass manually (without the-d (demon) parameter):

  # / usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-hostd - a u /etc/vmware/hostd/config.xml

  --------------------------

  (there was no mistake as.. libvmomi.so.1.0: no such file or directory)

  (3) copy (or link) libraries starting from/usr/lib/vmware/vmacore/and/usr/lib/vmware/lib/to /lib64/

  # cp /usr/lib/vmware/vmacore/libvmomi.so.1.0 /lib64/
  

  # cp /usr/lib/vmware/vmacore/libvmacore.so.1.0 /lib64/
  

  # cp /usr/lib/vmware/lib/libexpat.so.0/libexpat.so.0 /lib64/

  (4) just try to restart the vmware service or server; I had to run vmware - config.pl new - vmware crashed.

  If this isn't the case, vmware - always come running after you restart, try to rerun manually and wait minute (if it is started).

  I already had virtual machine in vmware, so I got another problem...

  VMware-get started, but just for a minute. After a minute, he wrote something as... out of memory. I tried to rename my vm and vmware has worked well (WebAccess Inc.) ...

  I'm trying to use the command line to launch a virtual machine using the instructions found on the website of vmware.

  That's what the chain of command line should be:

  "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware.exe - x C:\Users\xioc1138\Documents\Virtual Machines\Windows 7 x64\Windows 7 x64.vmx".

  However, when I try to create this short cut, I get the following error:

  The file is not found.

  So, I tested each segment of the chain of the "Run" dialog of Windows to see if they work.

  Run the first half, VMware opens.  The second half run VMware opens to the specific machine that I'm opening.

  Combine them: fail.

  When I try to run the entire string in the dialog itself, I get several interesting error messages:

  VMware Workstation:

  Unable to open computer virtual: c:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware Workstation\x64.vmx.

  Could not open the file "C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware Workstation\x64.vmx ': the system cannot find the specified file.

  And in a second area of error:

  VMware Workstation:

  '7' is not a virtual machine configuration file (vmx).

  Note that "VMware Workstation" indicates the name of the window opening.

  Any thoughts on what I might need to do to fix this?

  Hello and welcome to the forums.

  It is probably the space in the path and/or file name (C:\Users\xioc1138\Documents\Virtual Machines\Windows 7 x64\Windows 7 x64.vmx") which is the origin of the problem.  To remedy this, you can try renaming the paths and file names, using short file names (C:\Users\xioc1138\Docume_1\Virtua1\Window_1\Window1.vmx') or try to encapsulate your path information in quoatation marks.  Sometimes, it may also be easier to create a vbs or fighting the file to launch the shortcut.

• Something wrong with hard disk resizing

  I'm under 4.1.2 and you just import my Windows 7 Bootcamp machine into a true virtual computer.  I ran out of disk space while trying to install new software in Windows so I stopped and went settings to resize the virtual disk.  While the machine of Bootcamp was 30 GB the setting for the new machine watch as GB 465,76, which is be the size of the Lion partition on the hard drive.  Knowing it's not right and something can happen when importing, I tried shrinking the machine by following the process here.  No dice, my machine stills shows the drive as being 465,76 GB and I can't do the 60 GB I would.  I'm afraid to try anything else without posting everything here first.  Any tips or ideas on what I am doing wrong?

  What you see is the (although IMO the wrong) way that VMware matter partition Boot Camp to a Virtual Machine however based file so that you can not reduce the allocated virtual hard disk size but you can change the size of the virtual partition to increase the space available on the disk by removing the not used OS X in the virtual hard disk partition.

• upgrade to OSX 10.12 Sierra 10.6.8

  I have a MacMini running 10.6.8 mid-2010 Core2Duo. Only 2 GB of RAM, but I bought more (went wild and bought 2 4 GB 'cards' to replace the two original things from 1 GB) and install it after I do the upgrade (or did I miss something on the order of things... because I don't think that the new RAM is recognizable to OS 10.6.8... seems I read that somewhere) (, perhaps to OWC in descriptions of fleas?)

  I'm following the discussion 6271steps, the upgrade to 10.7 and above. I think it of a little too complete and covers many too on the ground which may not be suitable to my situation. I need to do this because 10.6.8 browsers are supported by less and less my online services (bank account, doctor, etc.) ... and of course, I need at least 10.10 download, install and use Google Chrome, if I want to access these accounts, for example.

  I'm hanging installation 10.7 Lion - point I paid for and downloaded the installer, so I'm ready to press the button install. I have two independent full backups on external drives, as recommended (disconnected).

  1. what happens next? The installation program will erase my hard drive to install the new OS? (There seems to be an indication that may arise - in this article - but it's not clear to me).

  Update to 10.7.5

  Upgrade to 10.12 (no intermediate OS is available is never again?)

  How long the printer has sat without print through it? It is generally recommended to print at least a page of color, a month or two of any inkjet printer, because even with the measures of head cleaning, it is still possible for the ink to dry up permanently inside the micro-buse jets.

  You may be able to get a head cleaning solution or possibly substitute some acetone and try a cleaning manual print head throughout, but I wanted to wait other opinions who are familiar with your specific model printer first for more tips.

  The worst cases are you may need a new Assembly of the print head, which is not terribly expensive for this model.

  Good luck though, honestly, I hate printers, but still sometimes I correct when they come my way.

  Which are different objects, in the first case of 'tips' belongs to the attribute in the second case to VO and VO.

  You can probably add MyAttribute pageDef and use #{bindings. MyAttribute.hints.specialLabel} as column label.

  Hi Experts,

  I have windows 7, 64 bit and Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 wireless cards, I updated the driver 3 times in the hope of solving the problem, I now have version 15.1.0.18

  Fortunately, I managed to solve it. In short, he did by removing the Intel My WiFi technology software and install a new version of driver.

  The steps I did:

  (1) I think that the software Intel My WiFi technology was interfiring when the laptop was trying to connect.

I had to wait a minute to connect to the network, but still my watched wifi disabled. Perhaps an incompatibility between the soft version and driver.

  (2) trust on the recommendation of the automatic detection tool with some intel on its support site.
  Before I had the 15.1.0.18 version because it was the highest, I had found and hoped that it would fix the prob but it didn't. So I uninstalled and installed the tool suggested me instead: 14.3.1.1.

  Now uninstall of intel my wifi or the installation of the driver 14.3.1.1 What did the trick? I do not know.

• View 5.3: video performance worse PCOIP

  Hi, we evaluate 5.3 view and we found problems with the user experience. See 5.2 for us seems better, but we can't find the explanation:

  1-view direct connection of the Agent (VADC) disturbing Flash video. It's really strange, but when connect us directly to a computer virtual with VADC, Flash video is jerky. More strange, if the mouse cursor is on the video, it's OK, but apart from the video, it's bad. It is easy to test: connect to view VM directly with VADC (no not from VCS server), open the Youtube video and test. This disorder is not happen when Connect Server VCS. We have opened a ticket for Vmware, but we get no help. Instead, they said look at the Administrator's guide (come on Vmware, we don't not children are first using Vmware View, try to reproduce the problem instead of wasting our time).

  2 - the overall video performance is worse under PCOIP session. We all try: with or without acceleration pool 3D, with or without Feature Pack, with or without MMR activated, increase the video RAM, VM, etc.. Settings change default PCOIP with view 5.3? We tested using tape to point out 1080 p, 1920 x 1200 movie trailer. It is always best to view 5.2. We do not store FPS but just to watch it's obvious.

  All tests were conducted in a new installation in an evaluation environment. Same network and exactly the same configuration of our 5.2 view production environment. Default configuration of Sami PCOIP. For tests, we use new server Dell R620, 96 GB of RAM, ESXi 5.5, vcenter 5.5.0a device, only 5 VM in the not persistent pool, 1, 5 GB of ram by computer virtual, local storage s (15K rpm raid 1 drive).

  There is really great news with 5.3, but for now we think that it is not ready to put into production. Does anyone have an explanation or indications of us? Thank you!

  We live the same with the direct connection plugin (Desktone). With the mouse on the video is perfect. the mouse out of the flash window, and the performance is bad.

• Partitioned customers

  When we first installed VMWare Service Manager four years ago (or below company as it was then known), have been invited to set up a single partition (in addition to the partition not specified) and partition customers in (among others). Since then, we have never had more than one partition in the system, however we would now implement a second partition using the same customer as the existing partition.

  We understand that the application won't let you not unpartition any part of the system, but we were wondering if it would be possible to modify the database.

  Has anyone attempted to unpartion clients (or other entity) and if so how do you go there and to what extent have you been?
