First generation of PC

Hello world

I've been browsing these forums for a few weeks now, learn a lot about computers to say the least! Currently, I am working for a video production company, as well from my own with a few friends... extremely excited about . I got a Macbook pro for four years now and only recently made account that I'll need to buy a new computer to be able to do what I want (run first and After Effects CS5). I shoot with a canon T2i and will need a very fast, efficient and reliable computer for HD impeccable editing and 3D graphics. My boss has built his own computers and it seems the way to go, that's why I switch back to PC and try my first build! So, I did a lot of research lately and have picked up some of the parts needed for the construction...

A friends computer I headed away from ASUS for a motherboard and suggested a MSI P55 - GD85 MB

http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16813130261

Other selected parts:

2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 - 930 Bloomfield processor

GE Force GTX 480 GPU

Complete tour of 1200 Antec atx

BFG Tech ARE-800 power

Coolermaster 212 Plus CPU cooler

Samsung Spinpoint F3 drives (not sure how much, always have yet to decide what RAID array, I have to do, it seems as wrong that strongly recommend for video editing)

Have not decided on the memory again, no doubt doing 12 GB... was thought perhaps corsair dominator?

That's as far as I'm away, she really takes a lot of research to find the best pieces for my needs and the best bang for the buck! I was expecting a few parts to choose Help, I would be very happy to be steered in the right direction, thanks!

Alex, the injury is a great resource for me as well. I'm pretty happy with my bench, and it is close enough to what you build. My 5 5 d Mark II files like butter now thanks to the maximum error tolerated in CS5 (and everything that makes other things Adobe under the hood).

I had a limited budget because of everything Canon I've been collecting, but here are some thoughts:

  • I use the Antec 1200. I really like the space inside and I for $159 with free shipping from Newegg last year. This year, he went as low as $119. BUT, a few things to know: one, it weighs a little less than a car of Pinto 73. I no longer move my rig, my wife our forklift sold. Secondly, whenever you want to clean filters three screen at the front, you must remove both side covers and remove the clamping screws 24. Who never gets old after a while, believe me. But, the thing is built like a tank and the number of fans you get is great, especially as 8 "fan on top. I need Clipboard on my desktop when I turn this thing, lol! Oh, I also had to buy an extension for one of my mobo for power cables because the case is so big (and POWER supply is backwards on the bottom). Because the power supply is backwards, all disks SATA power connectors are backwards too, you will have a few serious turning cable goes on. Therefore, work your cable in so that they are flexible and so they don't stress the fragile on the disks power connectors when connecting them. FINALLY: go to Ace Hardware and buy a few dozen 6 x 32 1 "philips-head screws to mount your disks in the cages, Antec does not give you enough, and their cages require a screw of a thumb to reach across the mountain to reach the road. Of course disregard this last statement if you get the case harm mentioned!
  • The power SUPPLY Corsair TX 850w PSU is half the price of the 1000w PSU and according to Calc online I use in the 600 range, no problem. But if the budget is not too tight, give yourself the additional margin. If it is tight, you can save close to $100 with the 850.
  • Subscribe to the feed RSS of Techbargains.com! I saw the 300 GB Raptor (I use this one for OS & Adobe apps) for $169.99 in the last two weeks. The price is falling because the 600 GB will come out or is out. The 300 GB is more than enough, I use about 38 GB of mine to Win7 64 bit and the Suite CS5 PP and some plugins. I use a separate drive of Caviar Black for ordinary non-video files...-c' is where all my my Docs and my music, blah blah blah reside. You can use libraries of Win7 to remap your "My" folders to another drive, VERY convenient! (This is where damage jumps in and says that we should not have any other junk on our machines in any WAY, and he's right, that's why I bought a separate drive, lol!)
  • Although I was very happy with the EVGA X 58 Mobo, it's more expensive, it must be, as the official RAM limit is 12 GB (through 6 slots). Ports dual eNet is fill, so stick with suggestions of prejudice to a mobo. I went with EVGA all year last because they were running like crazy discount, and they are the champion to the quick recovery of discounts, usually of 3 weeks. Western Digital has been the worst, I waited almost 5 months for two different discounts. Just for info. In any case, the BIOS of EVGA and OC ELECTRIC are very practical tools if you plan to OC.
  • I spent the most money for the Pioneer BDR - 205 Blu - Ray burner, and it has been a great performer. He is still selling in the range $180, but I have yet to have a BR project fail. It burns up to 10 X if you can even find media, rated at 10 X.
  • The EMT are superb, but it is good that you plan to RAID active disk. You will need to speed, especially if you land the effects on the TL like Magic Bullet Looks, etc. At the moment I still RAID the poor, using Sata ports 8 & 9 on my MOBO for RAID0 WD two RE3s together. A separate controller is wise, I'm still not there. Not to exclude a car cheap dedicated just for Scratch disks, I use a $45 Caviar Blue 320 which seems to work very well (I'm not sure I know enough to say that really!). It is scratch, so it can melt for all I care, lol
!
  • Even if I have 12 GB of ram, I put my page don't produce up to 8 GB for Min and Max (I think it was the recommendation of evil), no sense in the space of your OS drive to chew. You want to also get rid of your Hyberfil.sys file, this puppy eats up gigabytes of unnecessary. Do not toy with the control panel of the system, which does not always work. Simply open a prompt CMD as Admin and type: powercfg-h off, press ENTER and this thing will go away.
  • Can tell you I'm bored at work? Ouch, I was babbling here! Well, have fun with the construction, I like to do mine, and I always add to it.

    • iPhone 1 (first generation) Sim Card tray

Anyone know a source for the purchase of an an iPhone SIM card Tray 1 (first generation)? I have mine since 2007. My wife is an educator specialized and I would use the phone like an iPod Touch, basically. I have to get the iPhone enabled in order to use it, but requires a SIM card. The original plate is missing. I searched Amazon, eBay and the web in general. Can't seem to find a. Any ideas? I also have an iPhone 3G with a SIM tray but the tray does not adapt to the iPhone 1. Thanks for any help or ideas.

I think you'd find it difficult to find, because of his age and that the 1 G is now a bit of a collectors item. If it is in good nic, other than the missing sim tray, I would keep it hidden and buy an iPod Touch (same one used) then set up a search saved in ebay for the Board and try and get your hands on one.

It may be easier to buy a whole phone, I just did a search of ebay for the entire phone and they are ranging from £35 for one with a screen broken up to £3 500 for an open box.

    • Is the iPad first generation support the latest applications from the App Store?

I want to know if iPad first generation takes care of all new version of apps on iTunes app store... Thank you..

No, it won't. You may be able to download the latest compatible version of an application, but it will not be the latest version. -AJ

    • WiFi problem with iPad 4 on first generation Airport Express

Bad problem with iPad 4 / iOS9. It seems that it is connected to the wifi (my old airport express of first-generation lists my iPad as a connected device and in settings of the iPad, the connection has the usual blue tick). BUT Internet works only for a few seconds after a reboot (hard) and there is no icon of wifi signal on the status bar (to keep for the first few seconds after the eboot). All other devices (iPhone 6 on ios8.2, iPad 2, two Macs and a PC) work fine on the airport express (first generation). Stranger still, when I go into a public café with wifi on the road, the iPad 4 connects no problem at the station, on the status bar and the internet works, I see the usual wifi antenna icon. Final oddity, it suddenly stopped working and no software / firmware updates between the two. As mentioned, soft and hard that it recharges don't help in saving a few seconds DNS cannot be a problem because all other devices work correctly.  I also tried to reset the network settings. It is esoteric.

As a test, temporarily change the wireless network name and password on the AirPort Express.

Make the name of... well very simple wireless network, no special characters (like an apostrophe) and no space empty. Ditto for the password.

Can the iPad4 connect that way?

    • Be honest with us, Google TV sides first generation will never get an update

Update 3 was released for the 2nd generation of Google Tv devices, what are the chances to see an update beyond stability for first generation devices?

The crossing ARMS probably killed the 86 gen x, but some of us spent quite some money in devices.

software update (GM V3.2_2012091701 version) is already available for 1st generation devices Sony Google TV, which offers the following benefits:

      • The Google game service now includes movies, TV shows and music
      • Adds the new application of Google play movies

The Android OS is updated automatically in Google TV live if it is connected to the Internet. Internet TV devices have been recently updated the operating system Android 3.2.

Follow the steps mentioned on the link below to check the version of the software.

Currently, I run the design and the Web Premium CS6 on a first generation MacBook Air and want to buy a new MacBook Pro. How will I know if I can install my programs on the new Adobe computer? Because I know that there is some sort of limit.

Also, I had to install the software twice on my computer before because I had to restart the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.

You are allowed to have two facilities activated, so it shouldn't be a problem with facilities to work on both machines.  If by chance you somehow tied up two activations for a machine you can have Adobe support help solve this cat thrue.

    • Problems of first-generation iPad app development test

I just created my first iPad app, and I try to test the development with a first generation iPad app. But iTunes fails to install the application on the iPad during synchronization.

The error message indicates that the application is not compatible with the iPad and the iPad needs a "new version of the software for the iPad." But the iPad first generation already has software available: OS 5.1.1

What is going on? What is the solution?

You cannot create a new application for iOS5/iPad1. Single edition apps are

created automatically to version 28 for members of creative cloud.

Pro or business users can always backsave one version.

Older apps will continue to operate.

My very first apple device and bought with a lot of effort in 2014 and since when day that I did not have my favorite apps because it is compatible with the iOS 6 and now I want iOS 6 instead of iOS 9 because it supports ever with my camera. So I ask the team of apple released an update to IOS 6 iPad 1st generation. Waiting for your answers.

    • First generation vs second generation i7 processors?

Has anyone compared the performance of 2nd generation i7 processors of 1st generation?  Looking at the results PPBM page, I see two generations of i7s in the top of the systems.  The first gen i7s are certainly cheaper than the 2nd gen.  Would I missing out on something by buying a first gen i7 processor?

      J. D.

What this means is that the flagship of the LGA 1366 i7 990 X performs somewhat faster in CS5.x PR (Premiere Pro) than the LGA 1155 Lighthouse i7 - 2600K - but nowhere nearly three times faster. What is "extreme" on the i7 990 X is the price: it costs more than three times higher than the i7 - 2600K.

And as I noticed with the highest score quad-core i7 - 9xx systems in the list of PPBM5, they use all of the motherboards expensive, top of the range that has more that offset the cost advantage of the CPU quad-core i7 - 9xx on rival of the i7 - 2600K: the mother LGA 1155 typical in i7 - 2600K score systems cost about $180 to $ 190 while the motherboards in the systems aside higher i7 - 9xx almost always cost more $ $300. None of the low-end LGA 1366 mobos quad-core i7 - 9xx systems (at the price less $ 250 for the motherboard) ahead about 43rd well over 400 systems on the results of PPBM5 list.

    • Apple TV first generation will be to synchronize iTunes 12.3.3.17

I'M a die hard apple TV user 1st generation. Almost gave up after switching to the new software of PICTURES but has waited long enough and finally photos

the ATV is presented one day. then yesterday I updated to iTunes 12.3.3.17 and guess what? No sync for me.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Would love to hear if you have any suggestions. I always use the version 10.10.5 Yosemite

      Hi Capecodmama,

    • How can you put in place the first generation Airport Express with Yosemite

Is it still possible? If this is not the case, can itbee with an iPhone or an iPad?

      Athanasios

Are you sure that you have a 1st generation AirPort Express?

It was the 1st version of 802.11"n" products... and you will probably have a lot more older 802.11' b/g ' device that was used long before that Apple has started using the name of 'generation' in 2008.

Please look carefully at the side of your AirPort Express Terminal to locate the model number. It is difficult to see gray inscription on white background, so you may need good lighting and reading glasses.

The model of a 1st generation AirPort Express is A1264.

If you see A1084 or A1088, these are much older devices "b/g" which ranks Apple as obsolete... then they have not been supported for the past 3-4 years in the latest operating systems.

So again, you have... or can borrow... a Mac running Leopard (10.5.x) or operating system Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or a PC that has AirPort Utility for Windows installed on the device, you can administer the older devices, A1084 and A1088 like that.

We use Code first Entity Framework 6.1.3 (MSSQL 2014) and had problems with the performance of LINQ queries.

I download the patch on codeplex.com and compiled EF. This has been fixed in EF released by Microsoft? or other alternatives?
