Do I have to convert the file to the format KF8 or mobi? There is no plugin in Indesign CC 20141 to files ePub fixed provision.

What should I do?

Simply open your ePub file in Kindle Previewer and it will be converted to .mobi.

    • You can include video, audio and edge animate content (files with extension .oam).

Yes you can and you can preview them, but they do not appear in iBooks on the iPad. If InDesign epub 3 fixed layouts are to make any impact probably edge animate .oam files should work in?

Let me know if Miss me something, or how you get them to work on an iPad via iBooks.

My understanding is the fact that the OAM files do not work on an iPad in iBooks is a bug in the iOS7 software or iBooks for iPad.

If you view the EPUB3 FLX files in iBooks on a Macintosh in Mavericks (Mac OSX 10.9), the animation of the OAM will play well.

You could try them in 4 new digital editions on Adobe, which just came out:

Can anyone help? You must return to my client on priority.

I tried the exit in ibooks, Aldiko, ADE and a few other popular players.

    Hi Ananda,

Adobe Digital Editions came with a new update 4 ADE. Here you can see your EPUB fixed layout. Please note that ADE 4 on Mac works very well with FXL exported 2014 CC InDesign EPUB, you can see a few question on Windows though. We are aware of the problems and the team is working on fixing these issues with ADE on Windows.

Readium is also a good player that displays EPUB FXL very well.

  • Several questions using the fixed layout

I'll try to explain all my troubles and excuse my English.

Problems for a long time, iTunes Connect, Pages or iBooks author.

I'm basically a writer of children's books using the EPUB fixed layout as a template. One of my books with (interactive) video I've corrected several times through many contacts with support until I discovered that the problem was that iBooks was unable to read the EPUB 3.0 presentation stops and freezes. Currently, this problem has been fixed.

In fact, iBooks author nor Pages have fixed layout support. For example, the EPUB models presented in the Pages carry only vertical presentation - where are the horizontal templates for books on photography? iBooks author is made for classic books requiring chapters and sections that are unnecessary for children's books who just needs the blank pages where the images can be copied / pasted with text. It is, but not so simple.

At the moment I have finished another book and used Epub Checker. Everything was OK, so I tried to download it using iTunes Connect.

To my dismay iTunes Connect returned with several error messages missing both Epub Checker or inDesign.

I am here to tell all this issues with Apple tools and how they do not work in practice.

If you ask Apple to make improvements in its applications, for them to see that you must republish to

  • show/hide 2 CS6 InDesign Epub

I would like to have the user / reader to press a button to reveal an answer to a question. I wonder if anyone knows if this is possible using InDesign CS6 Epub 2. Should I upgrade to CC? Also should I publish my EPub on 2.0 or 3.0 for this kind of functionality?

    Thank you

    Jessica

Show / hide buttons works only in EPUB3 fixed layout format, not in EPUB2 or 3 recomposable format. Currently the only reasonable is to create it in the latest version of InDesign CC 20141.

  • How to convert a print InDesign EPUB document?

    I'm learning...

I produced a book printed in the format 6 x 9 "and now wants to publish a corresponding ebook. Setting up a new document allows the opening of Digital Publishing, I do not see a conversion function.

I tried to open a new document for Digital Publishing and Place the printed book in the pages, but only one place page. I had added the total number of pages in the document, there was room to move forward.

    How can this be achieved?

Thanks for the references of my titles on lynda.com Derek!

That's all, so source of confusion for new users, you have my sympathy Dennis, but soon it will emerge. I think that a main thing, is that usually no need to start over. Just do a save slot for your printing doc and autour mess with here, then export to epub. Especially if you go at fixed disposal. Keep it in a 6 "by 9" and the export of single - or-(spreads) pages as an EPUB.

I have a number of titles on lynda.com on creating the files ePub, everything for the beginning/intermediate ebook designers. The three most common are:

Creation of layout fixed EPUB with InDesign CC

This is for InDesign CC and CC 2014 and explains how to convert an EPUB of provision fixed an InDesign layout. It includes a full chapter on using interactive elements (animations, slideshows, cross-references, etc.) as well as a complete work around some issues chapter. And I shows how to crack open and add simple code to make things that InDesign can't do (yet) like integrate a video hosted remotely.

    InDesign CC: EPUB Foundation

This warranty covers create ebooks EPUB 2 and 3 of the EPUB recomposable more typical of InDesign, which requires much more preparation for the InDesign file as ch-layout (but it is much more widely supported that the Fixed-Layout format is). This includes converting the file into a Kindle Book too, that you can't do with a layout fixed epub.

    Create a fixed layout EPUB

I wrote and recorded this a few years before InDesign took in charge the export format. It shows how to create an EPUB fixed layout from scratch - I show how to write HTML files yourself and includes a template to help you get started. There are chapters on the conversion of PDF files and earlier versions of InDesign at fixed disposal too.

All these include free sample movies, but you will need a subscription to lynda.com to see all the films. You can usehttp://lynda.com/freepass/amconcepcion for a free trial week. You will however need to give them your credit card at the front and do not forget to cancel before the road of the week.  However, the sub is only $25 / month and you can cancel after one month, it's a good deal.

You should check InDesignSecrets.com, InDesign Magazineand ePubSecrets.com for more current info on InDesign and EPUB.

I hope some of these help!

  • Why the strange Indesign epub air files in ADE3?

I tried to do a few simple epub, trial fixed layout in Indesign files, then view them in Adobe Digital Editions 3. A folder contained a page of text formatted with paragraph styles and a picture from within Photoshop. The other file was just text pasted from Word without any formatting to Indesign. In both cases, increased the number of pages (10 and 5, respectively) that the text became very large. The procedure to make the epub fles is quite simple and I do not see where I am going wrong. Thanks, Neil

Because the current version of ADE is not yet in charge EPUB3 and fixed provision correctly.

  • InDesign epub export bug CS6

I use Indesign CS6 to export an epub book. Problems with the machines and balls numbers and spacing issues. However, I made a few adjustments and get a pretty decent epub. Here's the question: when I convert my epub into Mobi by using Calibre, I get double chips and double numbers in my lists. I used the same process to create a file to Mobi in Indesign 5.5 a few months with no problems. So I took one of my files CS6, it has exported to IDML, opened in CS5.5 and exported to ePub. Then, I took this epub and converted into Mobi by using Calibre. No double chips or numbers. If the problem comes from Indesign CS6.

Anyone else had this problem. Any other ideas on how to get a clean Mobi file of CS6?

    lotuscott,

You should get the 8.0.1 update for InDesign CS6. It fixes several bugs EPUB, including the problem of 'space before' and the 'epub-Ruby"(that is, I thought for the Japanese language.

  • How can I generate my own InDesign ePub file without the encryption.xml file?

My Bookstore (B & N) will not accept my ePub file because it does not want the encryption.xml file included. How can I generate a file InDesign ePub, for my own books, without him? Is there a box somewhere? I searched through the ePub export area and boxes of file information, no luck.

    Error message from PubIt.com B & N:

We found a file name called encryption.xml in your container of EPUB, which refers to the part, or all, your file is encrypted. We do not accept any encryption in source ePub files. • Why export as a provision fixed epub fails to maintain the fixed layout?

I'm trying to export a file as a provision epub fixed. I tried CC 2014 (the later version) and CC 2015. 'Intent' the title of the document is defined as Digital Publishing. The chosen type of epub is "a fixed provision. The layout remains never really fixed. The 20-page document becomes 66 pages. The fonts are wildly larger in the epub that they are in the original. Images are deleted entirely. Can anyone help?

Have you tried viewing in iBooks (on Mac or iOS device) or Readium inside Chrome (Readium - Chrome Web Store)?

If it is not available fixed those, please post screenshots of your settings in the export dialog as well as the resultant EPUB iBooks or Readium.

  • Fixed problem of ePub layout with facing pages

    Hello

I have a 240-page book, made from several inDesign files that I'm trying to convert a fixed provision ePub. Everything works like a charm except the transition from one file to another.

The book uses pages face to face setting when the file ends for example on page 40, it is a page on the left, and the next file starts from page 41 and is a right-hand page. After export available fixed epub, the file that results has blank pages between the files. I mean, it's after the left 40 page there is a blank page on the right, then an empty page left followed by the right hand, page 41.

What would be the simplest solution for this?

    Hello

I found the problem in the book panel so case closed. 'The book Page numbering options' I had 'Insert blank Page' selected. This caused no problems when exporting to PDF, but gave rise to additional empty pages when exported to ePub.

Is attached a screenshot of the book panel. The problem is between all the files.

  • How to anchor images in a fixed layout of recomposable EPUB conversion?

I designed a book combining images with words for a print edition, and now that I'm about to launch the ebook, I found that the document must be exported as a recomposable EPUB. The INDD document is formatted for printing 6 x 9.

There are nearly 300 images that are part of the text stream. It is a document with the following text:

    -Preliminary pages without images

-Table of contents - created as a but do not separate text block using the Style of the Table of contents (still not put a chapter to link properly)

-23 chapters in a chain with integrated images

When I convert as-is recomposable, all the chapter headings and images are sent in the order, at the back of the book. In the text flow, the titles of the chapters are part of the body of text (different fonts and sizes), like images.

The main task seems to be anchor images. A direction seemed to indicate that each image needs to be cut and the repasted in place. That makes no sense, because the images were all arranged by via to place the images.

It is perhaps not obvious, based on the screenshot, but you do not physically move the already placed image. What might is where it is anchored and the parameters in the object > object Export Options regarding the EPUB that is produced.

You can't automate with a strike because there is no way to specify the anchor point except by indicating it in the layout.
