Flash ESR 13.0.0.260 ActiveX msi broken package!

Hello

the new version of the msi ESR Flash for IE (install_flash_player_13_active_x.msi) seems to be broken.

I was not able to deploy via GPO, or to install it manually. Still, it fails with the error below.

Older versions and the version of the plugin do not have this problem.

I also tried to manually start the extracted "InstallAX_13_0_0_260.exe" in the folder temp, but that it also fails with a message saying

me s.th. as: you try to install an outdated version.

BTW, I have no problem to deploy the packages msi following on the same machine:

Flash ESR 13.0.0.260 Plugin (install_flash_player_13_plugin.msi)
Flash ESR 13.0.0.259 ActiveX (install_flash_player_13_active_x.msi)

Flash 16.0.0.257 ActiveX (install_flash_player_16_active_x.msi)

Plugin Flash 16.0.0.257 (install_flash_player_16_plugin.msi)

I finally discovered what the problem was and I also have a workaround:

The problem occurs only when one of the newer Versions no - ESR (16.x) had been installed on the machines before (a 'Virgin' machine is not affected).

These packages leave a key of registry even after uninstallation, which prevents later Installation of ESR 13.0.0.260 newer versions and later versions.

This key or better values it contains all brand (supposedly) older versions, including the current version of the ESR, as dangerous and the installation fails (Interestingly, only the msi ActiveX seems to be affected).

The reg - key issue is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersions" (and to Win x 64 also "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\SafeVersion").

By removing this key before installation / deployment msi latest ESR, the problem disappears. Reg - key can be deleted with a group policy.

However, it would be nice if Adobe could change the behavior of the 16.0.0.x - msi packages in the future so that the latest ESR version is also considered safe to install.

  • Flash 10.3.181.23 as activex MSI needs credentials for the administrator to install

I work in a company that installs Flash via Active Directory. We have a mix of systems Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 systems. We are currently running Flash 10.3.181.14 and I'm trying to update everyone to the most recent version.

The Flash plugin version works on all systems and the ActiveX version is installed for Windows 32-bit XP running IE 7 32-bit. The only problem I'm having is that when the GPO installs the ActiveX version on Windows 7 64-bit for IE 8 32 - bit, something happens and opening a page with Flash on it content causes a prompt UAC for administrator credentials to install flash. If I type in then it works but I am not able to go to each computer, and then type the credentials.

Is that what I can do to work around this problem? Turn off UAC is not an acceptable option.

I think the important thing here is the 64-bit browser.  We don't, at the moment, support 64-bit browsers.  You'll want to do it with a 32-bit browser instead.

    Hi Prakash,

Sorry for the delay and confusion about the application process.  It was my fault because I thought that your application through our normal channel marked at least a manual response from the team working on the licenses.

As it is, we are currently working through legal and logistical issues for the distribution of PPAPI.  We hope to have a mechanism in place in the coming months.  I also note that we have no plans at this time to create a version MSI or PKG installer from ppapi.  Of course, we will re-evaluate if there is demand.

I would like to understand your slightly better use case.  Would you like could you drop me an email to [email protected] and explaining how you will use the generation of ppapi and how many clients you expect to distribute to the?

  • Flash Video (FLV) slide show & amp; ActiveX

I've added a FLV video to my index page. This is a slideshow I created in Photoshop first and then exported a .flv file. I have not yet published on this site (maybe that's my problem, but I don't want to post until I know for some). Whenever I saw in different browsers, pop iExplore attention Active X. Safari and Firefox are very good. I don't want people who consult the website having to click 3-4 warnings just to display the first page on this Web site. I have tried to research this issue online and all I could come up with was that I might need a file named AC_RunActiveContent.js. But all the comments say that Dreamweaver inserts this file. Well, it didn't, so I guess I don't need! Do you know how the ActiveX popup go away. (I'm a newbie, so please use a 'simple' language!) Thank you!

Security settings for the IE browser will give you the ActiveX warning when you
get a glimpse of a local file. Place the page files and the dependant to the server and test
Once again. You should not see the warning.

    Hi MohitMittal,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. You are able to install other programs that use the windows service install?
    3. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

Check and make sure that the Windows service install is running on the computer.

    (a) click on start toreduce this includes this image, click run , and then type services.msc in the dialog box and then press enter to open Services.

    (b) right click on the Windows Installer service and then click Properties.

    (c) if the box Startup type is set to Disabled, change it to Manual.

    (d) click on OK to close the Properties window.

    (e) right click on the Windows Installer service and then click Start. The service should start without errors.

  • Flash Player Plugin 9.0.45 not install MSI

I downloaded the new MSI Flash Player Plugin [9.0.45] on the site of redistribution license and set up as a Group Policy object as I did with previous versions of flash player. Once it is configured as a GPO and I restart a client, it does not install the new version. I loaded the MSI in Orca and ran the msi validation. An error pops up after validation is executed which says "ProductCode: '{685A56F8-75B6-44AD-B3DA-FB0A3266B47C}' is an invalid GUID Windows Installer." I don't get this error on the previous Flash Player Plugin MSI or previous versions or the latest version of the Flash Player ActiveX MSIs, so it seems that is what is causing the problem. The interesting thing to note is that the ProductCode for the 9.0.45 plug-in version is the same ProductCode as the 9.0.28 ActiveX version. Was the wrong code used in the MSI Plugin 9.0.45?

    Hi jbeyette@esm,

I downloaded the Flash Player plugin MSI (9.0.45.0) and verified that it is the correct Product Code:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ {B91D3B4D-001F-4ABF - B8A5-B5A926DB63AD}

Try to clear your cache and see if it works for you.

    Hi eeeehaw,

    This link worked.  Thank you.

As I suspected, it is a problem of permission with the installation.  The issue started around Nov 11?  We published the latest version of Flash Player 11 Nov and installation, through substantive update, seems to be successful that day (not), however, I see many failed attempts to install Flash Player for IE after that.  Today the most recent attempt fails due to permissions errors.  The FAQ How can I fix Windows with Flash Player permission problems? contains information on how to solve this problem that runs a script to reset the permissions on various files and Flash Player registry entries.  If this does not work, you can try a less restrictive script of the microscope according to this tech note https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/968003.  This technical note makes reference to Windows updates, the error (0x80070005) is the same returned on the file Flash Player prevents the installation.

  • Looking for a way to tell if installed Flash Player version is ESR or not.

We push the latest versions of Flash Player the company using a suite of patch management. Whenever a patch flash goes off, it rolls (and updates) our computers that need to run the Flash ESR branch. Is there a registry key or the specific file in the file system, which indicates that the version of Flash Player installed is the branch of the ESR and not the last branch?

  • ESR bumps to 14 flash version flash update

    Hello

I'm flash ESR deployment at my organization and I want to have auto update turned on in order to always a version with the latest flash ESR security patches installed. To do this I downloaded the version of Support extended to:

    Adobe Flash Player Distribution. Adobe

and set up a deployment with enabled auto-mises to date. Automatic update works well but it updates the flash 14.0.0.145 customers and I want them to stay in the edition of ESR to first flash it in any way to configure the update for flash process ESR is only updated with new versions of ESR?

    Thank you

    Hello Pasqual,

It is the expected behavior.  To keep your organization in the ESR branch via automatic updates, we recommend accommodation local resources background update and allowing customers to background updates.  When you host locally updated background the Flash Player is updated in silent mode when an update is available and users will not be presented with the Update Notification dialog window.  Substantive updates to on-site accommodation requires you to obtain the resource file and posting it to your internal server every time that a new Flash Player version is available.

Information on accommodation of ESR Background updated resources are available on page 20 (the current) Flash Player Administration Guide published to Adobe Flash Player Administration for Flash Player 14 Guide | Adobe Developer Connection.  Other methods to keep your organization branch ESR is to disable updates and distribute Flash Player via Group Policy, Active Directory or SCUP catalog distribution.  All of these methods of distribution are described in Chapter 3 of the Guide.
