  Windows is not a caps lock indicator.  The indicator on the screen is provided by another program, provided by the manufacturer of your computer.  Computers Dell, for example, have a program called QuickSet which performs this function.  Other computers, such as eMachines, use a program called HotKey that is running in the taskbar near the clock.

  If it stop working, the program may have been closed (or maybe even turned off by someone else). A great troubleshooting step is simply restart your computer.  As long as the program is still installed, it must itself automatically restart (assuming nobody has disabled it).

  I have just updated the firmware on my desire to 2014 (device E7A75EA code) to "F.68 Rev.A" to HP support and now it does not start!  Instead, all I get is a blank screen and the caps lock flashes twice (tells me means corrupt BIOS!)

  I followed the instructions carefully and no error message appeared in Windows, but the laptop restarts it impossible to load Windows and just gets stuck on this white screen.  I tried removing the battery/power cord, and then holding down the power button for 1 minute, but it did not help.

  Can I boot from the CD/USB and flash back, the old firmware (v43 I think)?

  You can go to control panel, accessibility, make the keyboard easier to use. Check the turn on the ToggleKeys. You will hear a beep when you press SHIFT CAPS LOCK, Numlock or SCROLLLOCK.

  However when the restart boots it (with the Start button) to the top and it works normally (well, until now).

  To ensure that this is not a SW error I reinstalled my XP.

  Also here was a problem, the installation went well through adaptation, the preparation, the quick formatting, but like that to the instaltion windows screen stopped after a while.

  After I have let cool the ban of nuclear tests down and disconnected the AC, put it in a cooler place it turned on again and fortunately the instalation continued to the end on the battery.

  The same problem also showed when the awakening of settlement by also ntb on AC.

  So if anyone has any idea what this may be caused by?

  That sounds more like the BIOS ROM file to the South.

  I suggest that you update the BIOS to the current version. Don't forget that you will need to change the time/date thereafter.

  Restore your computer to a point before the updates being installed with the System Restore.  Then proceed as follows:

  1. go in Control Panel , and then select Windows Update.

  2. click on check for updates.

  3. once the results come back, click on the link that shows Important updates and deselect all the updates except the first 3 or almost and install the updates.

  4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 until you receive the error message.
