Flashing of the program windows with the message "not responding".

I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise and have experienced a problem with the flashing/flickering program windows since the installation of the program. It tends to happen more, when some programs take up a lot of memory, be several excellent windows, photo editing with GIMP 2.0 program or several tab navigation in internet. The flicker can be short, but it arrived to keep it constantly. I don't know exactly, what induces it. It might have something to do with the mouse hovering over the taskbar, as the flickering tends to start when a new window will be selected. A form any of it also occurs when you type in a cell in MS Excel: I start to type in the window of a single program and finish the word in another.
There are two options in the forums. One more course includes the passage off Windows Desktop Manager service. I tried and it seems to work. However, windows aero is off then.
The other includes mingle with the registers in accordance with the following statement: http://www.webtlk.com/2009/06/02/how-to-fix-screen-flash-in-windows-7/. What I've avoided trying because the computer is not mine.

So, what is the solution? This flickering is not only a cosmetic problem. In one occasion, he can freeze a program and a lot of time and also some work may be lost.

Hi Lauri

Sorry for the delay. :(

You mentioned 1.5 GB of RAM, even if it is higher than the minimum requirement of 1 GB, it is weak to implement features like the Aero interface. Aero is very graphic intensive and can consume a lot of memory.

16% of free RAM is an ambiguous number. Although you have 1.5 GB, you don't have that much physical memory available. You can check this by using resource monitor.

Press the Windows Logo + R.

In the Run dialog box, type resource.exe, and then press OK.

Select the memory tab. A nice GUI appears in the physical memory section.

An important point is the reserved physical memory. It's the memory that the computer BIOS material reserves for some hardware on the system (the installed graphics device usually consumes the biggest part). This amount of physical memory is not available for use by the system. If deduct you the number of installed RAM and then rerun your test of memory usage of crete, you will get a true number for 16%.

Tip: you can hover over any element in the physical memory section and a description of the pop-up window for this item.

In regards to windows offering a caveat when system resources are low, as I said before, this is what the State does not is all about. When a program is started or the memory is too low for a running program to respond timely is when you see this State does not reply and flashing that you described.

What you can do.

1. increase the memory by installing more physical RAM.

2. check the virtual memory settings. Open the Control Panel/System/Advanced tab control. In the performance section, click on Settings / Advanced tab, make sure that the programs are selected in the processor scheduling section.

In the virtual memory section, click the Edit button. Select the system drive and click System managed size. This will allow Windows allocate virtual memory if necessary.

3. open the Control Panel control/troubleshooting. In the system and security section, click check for performance issues. Follow the steps in the resolution of the problems.

Make sure you run the Maintenance options as described in.

  • Vista displays the message "not responding".

When I click to open programs, the program does not open and a message "not responding" appears next to the title of the program at the top of the screen. The entire screen turns off and when I try to close the program a box pops up that gives the options for "Wait for the program to answer" or "close program". When I select 'close program' a message saying "windows is looking for a response" but no answer is found and the system hangs and I can't 'restart', so I have to close the pc using the power button and open again.
This problem occurs with any program and randomly. Some of the programmes concerned are Internet Explorer, windows Explorer, windows, windows snip tool, roxio creator 2009 and other photo gallery. It seems to happen with any program being launched and programs that have successfully launched previously.

You can try to repair Acrobat, and see if that helps.

You might also uninstall Acrobat using the cleaning tool. Here is the link to download the cleaning tool.

  • Windows Defender does not work. When I try to turn it on, I get the message "not responding".

    Original title: Windows Defender

I have Windows Vista and my Windows Defender will activate/doesn't not work.  When I try to turn it on, it responds by saying: 'it is not responding' and stops automatically.  I tried to re - install & who did not work.  Any ideas.

    Hi lskdjfoie,

What have you tried to reinstall? Windows Defender or other programs?

I suggest the following steps and check.

    Step 1:

Usually if you have a third-party security software installed, Windows Defender would not work. I would temporarily disable all security software and check if the problem persists.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.  In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 2:

If this does not help, I would say you scan SFC on your computer and check if Windows Defender works fine.

    Step 3:

If none of the steps helps create a new user account and check if the problem persists.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

I can't add a component from the Add Remove program window as says could not initialize winxp

My victory is xp professional ver 2002 service pack 3

It's usually easy to fix, but if you removed all the dll and inf files, you can have a bunch of other problems that you have not yet discovered.

If you mean when you try to use Add/Remove Windows components you see a message like this:

Install was not able to load the master file.
The application could not be initialized.

This happens because this file is missing:

    c:\windows\inf\sysoc.inf

There is no copy backup of this file on your system and run the System File Checker will not replace the missing file (sorry, that Microsoft committed Support Engineer 'experts').

You will need to get a real copy of your XP bootable installation CD or from a reliable source.

There's a copy on my SkyDrive, you can download - here's how:

I downloaded a copy of XP Pro SP3 file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, put a copy of the file in this folder (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\Inf

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:

    https://SkyDrive.live.com/?CID=6a7e789cab1d6f39&ID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you can not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, your browser is unable to save the file with an extension (by example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file named sysoc when the name of the file should really be called sysoc.inf (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

You must then copy and paste the downloaded folder appropriate on your system.
