Upgrading CPU for Satellite L500-128

I have a 4-5 year old Toshiba L500-128 and I would like to upgrade the processor. ATM I have a Core 2 Duo T6500. I know that I can put a T9500 inside, but if possible I would ask a better. So I have a few questions:

(1) can I put a CPU with front side bus 1066 MHZ speed and it'll work? T6500 has 800 FSB.
(2) can I put a CPU with 44 or 45W TDP? T6500 has 35W.
(3) if the answer is Yes to the two questions above, I put a CPU with 1066 FSB and 45W?

Is possible, I would put something like T9900 or even a Quad Core.

Thanks in advance :)

> 1) that I can put a CPU with front side bus 1066 MHZ speed and it'll work? T6500 has 800 FSB.

In my opinion, you should check the compatibility of the chipset and CPU support.
As far as I know the motherboard the computer s portable supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express

On the Intel Ark page, I could find the Intel Mobile GM45 chipset specifications and compatible products:
http://Ark.Intel.com/products/35134/Intel-82GM45-graphics-and-memory-controller-hub

However, the fact is that new CPU must be supported by the chipset and BIOS.
If one of the parties (chipset or BIOS) is not compatible with the new processor, the laptop does not start at the top.

In addition, you should also know that the manufacturers of portable don t support upgrading processors.
Does that mean exactly?

This means that even if the chipset would support the new processor, BIOS could be the troublemaker and couldn't stand the improved CPU. From my experience, there is no information on BIOS support. Therefore, the CPU upgrade is always a risky procedure. Maybe it will work, maybe not

    Processor Intel® Celeron® 925 (2.30 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 1 MB Cache)

To be honest I'm not quite sure if all these processors would be compatible because of the BIOS, but if the new processor is supported by the chipset, but chances are not too 'bad '.
However, it is just a theory and everything you do, is at your own risk.

  • Question about upgrading CPU for Satellite A30 104?

    Hello

My Satellite A30 104 recently came at the end of its warranty and had to open the heatsink for cleaning, and seeing that the CPU was available, I wonder if there should be (likely) to upgrade.

The processor is a Celeron 2.6 GHz (Northwood). I'm no more grunt, I would prefer a more low-power chip, while the cache L2 much bigger of a Pentium 4 is also desirable. I would be very grateful if someone could give advice if upgrades are likely available, and if so the chips would be appropriate? If I can give any more useful technical information, please ask.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Usually it s not advisable to upgrade the CPU on laptops, because no one can tell if the laptop runs correctly and stable after the upgrade.
The heat and the temperature inside the laptop could be a serious problem.

In any case, I think that the laptop supports an Intel 852GME chipset.
    http://www.Intel.com/products/chipsets/852GME/index.htm

The Intel 852GME chipset is optimized for the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor, has a main bus at 533 MHz and up to 2 GB memory DDR 266/333/200 at high speed.

    But I'm not sure about m making it s 479 or 478

  • Question about upgrading CPU for Satellite L30-101

Is it possible to upgrade my processor from a 1.44 to what higher?

No, there is no way because:

    -It s too expensive
-It s complicated Exchange when you´re no technician for laptop
-you won´t win any show (especially when the performance vs price comparison)

Instead update your RAM and your HARD drive since that these components are comp. evolutionary and better will give you better performance.

I'm looking for a DC02000S800 cable because mine is broken. I get green colors on my screen etc. Anyone know where I can find it for a reasonable price? If I have to buy at a local store, it's around $ 100. Way too expensive for such a cable.

Use Google for your country and check if you can find a few independent stores to order the LCD cable.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the processor on my Satellite L500-128?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-128 with an Intel Centrino duo core proccessor with duo core 2 technology and wanted to know if it is possible to
pgrade whether a quard core proccessor or a core I3 processor?

    Thank you

    Oscar

    Hi Oscar

In my opinion the SSDS are quite expensive in that time and I think that you shouldn't spend a lot of money for it now.
I think that you should increase the RAM to the maximum level and make the right configuration of the OS and you should be satisfied with the performance.
I don't know what you're doing with your laptop, but for every day activities, it will be enough.

Yes, the L500 can boot from USB Flash Drives. I believe that all 2008-2009 Toshiba laptops can boot from USB :)

  • Re: Satellite L500-128 - how to restore factory settings?

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500-128. A couple of months, I installed the upgrade to windows 7. Now, I want to clean my computer laptop everything. I want to restore the factory settings, but I have no idea how to do that. Does anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

    What do you want exactly?

Normally it is easy to restore the factory settings. You need only the Toshiba Recovery disk you created, I think. Therefore, enter the disk and start it. The Setup menu will be loaded and you can follow the instructions on the screen. Factory settings will be restored with all the drivers and tools.

Also, don't forget to backup your data. Everything on the HARD drive will be erased.

  • Problem with keyboard on Satellite L500-128

    Hi all

I'm having some problems with the keyboard on my Satellite L500-128 - essentially; 8, 9, i, o, k, l and comma and period keys do not work.

All other keys are working perfectly fine (I use an external keyboard if people wonder!)

I'm technically minded but I was wondering if its worth disassemble the laptop and have one eye or if someone has had this problem with this laptop before - or if someone has any ideas with what he could fix.

I tried to do a reset of the laptop (battery and pressing power button) I reinstalled the operating system, but the keyboard still has problems in the BIOS too.

    Hello

In my opinion and as suggested by Liam, it looks like a simple keyboard malfunction and to solve this problem, the keyboard needs to be replaced.

The Toshiba service in your country partner could replace the defective
Otherwise, you could try to replace it yourself, but if you are a beginner and if you have no experience, ask a support technician.

  • Satellite L500-128 - slow connection to wireless network

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite L500-128.

After I installed Windows 7 Ultimate, my laptop is very very slow at startup. He hangs on to my wireless network connection or non - wireless (no matter whether I am connected to a cable). At this point, Windows has already started, but has not loaded al my applications yet. After 1.5 minutes or so when it is connected to my network (or has decided that he cannot connect because I'm not connected to a network), it continues and all is well.

I already installed the latest network drivers. I have a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller and an Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN.

Is there anyone who has this problem and fixed it?

    Hello

I had a similar problem on Windows XP... The problem is that I used my router DHCP service it takes up to 1 minute I could use the laptop. I searched a bit here in the forum and I tried to use static IP addresses instead of DHCP from my router service: the problem has been resolved! :)

Please try static IP addresses and update the firmware on your router!

  • Satellite L500-128 - where can I get drivers for Windows 7?

    Hello

Recently, I bought Satellite L500 with Windows Vista. I hope that make Windows 7 drivers Toshiba soon so I can install Windows 7 Professional on my laptop. Why does take so long?

Pilots would come I have a few weeks or should you wait until next year?

    Great, from the Netherlands!

    Hi Dennis,

First of all I'm pretty sure that Toshiba will come out Windows 7 for this model because I created this: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/KBA9A02PX0000R01.htm

I think that nobody can't say how long it takes until that Toshiba will get the drivers for this model now, but I can understand that not all drivers can be released in one or two days. I guess that Toshiba test riders before they download them and it takes a bit but I noticed that every day more and more drivers for Windows 7 will be available to check the Toshiba page from time to time.

About Windows 7 drivers on the page United States it of really nice to read that you founded another model with the same specifications then I guess that readers should also work on your model. I m waiting for a feedback on your part because I m thinking purchase Satellite L500 for Windows 7 too so it would be very nice to read your experience with the drivers here. :)

(I don't know much about the updates that is why I ask)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You must ensure that new CPU would be managed by the chipset built in Notepad.
I think that your laptop supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express.

I checked the Intel page for compatible processors and it seems that these processors are supported by the chipset:
Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor X 9100 (3.06 GHz, front side bus at 1066 MHz, 6 MB Cache)
Intel® Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53 GHz, front side bus at 1066 MHz, 6 MB Cache)
