Flashing on time machine

How can I fix amber light flashing on time machine won't back up

Time Machine is not a light yellow because TM is a software and your description does not match a function of TM, I think you are referring to a Time Capsule. • How can I save a USB on my time capsule with time machine?

    Hello

I just bought an external USB flash/thumb drive, believing I could extend the memory of my currently complete macbook (OS X 10.7.5), while maintaining an up-to-date backup of everything on my Time Capsule. (I was planning on dumping my pictures/videos on the new USB and free up space on my macbook).

I already formatted the flash drive USB is now 'Mac OS external (journaled). I then tried to remove the exclusion of preferences list flash drive Time Machine (by selecting 'options' and then selecting the '-' button to remove the disc highlighted). He appears to remove the USB key at this point and allows me to save and close the options box, however it is always not backup external USB drive on a Time Capsule format.

Subsequently, on rechecking the box Option Time Machine preferences, the disc that I just removed from the exclusion list, is back on the list!

The impression that I'm going in circles... Is there something that I am missing, or another way to automatically back up this drive?

    Thank you very much.

First of all, unless you intend to keep the reader flash connected all the time, is really no interest in what you want to do. Simply copy the data from a backup other than the Time Machine backup disk drive.

  • I can restore a new Macbook Pro with a 128 MB flash usung a drive backup time Machine 1 TB?

My Macbook Pro 2009 with a 1 TB drive is dead. I bought a new Macbook Pro 13 "early 2015 with 128 MB of memory Flash.

How can I use the 1 TB time machine backup restore the new MAC?

Yes, but most likely you can not restore everything and will need to be selective about what should be restored because very probably a full restoration would take more than 100 GB and you need a free storage space so that you can not fill up the drive

Time Machine is a software on your Mac that is used to back up your Mac in a time Capsule, which is material.

So, chances are, it's your Time Capsule which is orange flashing.  The time Capsule and other routers Apple shows a yellow light flashing when a parameter must be adjusted.

To find out why your Time Capsule is flashing orange...

On your Mac, open Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility

Click on the image of the Time Capsule

Look for the status setting in the window that appears

What is the next status message you see?

    Hello:

I'm doing a new installation on my parents computer because Flash Player was completely broken somehow. I can't uninstall or update.

This isn't my problem right away well. Their backup disk was on his last breath so that I had to get a new and Time Machine hangs first various office applications, which I excluded, now it's of iDVD. I tried that it excludes everything first, but Time Machine has always tried to save. Given that my parents don't use it and it is no longer supported then I thought to uninstall. I deleted the program and demand corresponding is support the file and did a search in the Finder for all of the remaining files. No, zip.

However, Time machine is still backing up files which I can't find for the life of me. He would make iDVD themes 1, 2, 3, etc. I can't exclude in Time Machine because he's not here. I deleted the partial backups each time and it keeps immediately suspended 19,25 GB on iDVD.

  • Time Machine blocked preparation backup

    Hi community

Time Machine, I get the iMac to backup, Time Capsule 371 GB of the preparation phase of backup available 998 GB for one eternity, as others have reported.

My system is an iMac (27-inch, late 2009), processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 Memory with an ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB video card and a physical disk internal 1 TB ST31000528AS Sata media.

My last backup was September 16, 2016 @ 1257 GMT and my software was the last version of El Capitan.  (I backup to another external HARD drive, using Carbon Copy Cloner and backup guru Mac unfortunately I don't have a big enough other ext HDD to run a time Machine backup to as well).

When the TC is connected I can see the iMac and iMac.sparsebundle backup folder and when I enter the time Machine I can see the chronology running back from 16 Sep and it allows me to access the files in the folders.  So, I guess that the disk HARD of TC is OK.

Software changes have been: 1 MS a copy of CCleaner Free 1.14.451, 2 Ms Security Update 2016-001, 13 Sep Adobe Flash, 14 Sep 12.5.1, 16 Sep Digital Camera RAW compatibility update iTunes.  Never had a problem before with these downloads.  Safari updated September 20, then to Sierra 22 Sep having saved first using the CCC and MBG.

Through the various pages of help through Google.  Follow-up advice given to reset the SMC and the PRAM, deleted Sophos home and com.apple.TimeMachine.plist and com.apple.TimeMachine.plist.lockfile.

Rebooted and restarted the iMac and Time Capsule several times, done many backups check the reset even the time Capsule disk, but all without success.

I'm still stuck in preparation of backup when I reselect the backup drive.

    Can someone help please?

Finally, I had a problem in 2014 when Apple recalled the iMac to a HARD drive replacement program.  This was successful, but a few days later the Time Machine and time Capsule would not save.  This is due to the component change when the UUID was different.  The advice I would have given were to know how inherit backup and controls disk associated within the Terminal. Stupidly, I started again when the TC asked me to and then discovered the Terminal commands a few days later.  The loss of backups of 4 years was no big problem, so I suppose that if I have to, I won't again unless a member of the smart community can better advise me please?

    Good community

I forgot to tell you that I save on a Capsule of 1 GB bought in 2010 with the iMac.

Don't know how, but not before I finished posting my above query Time Machine kicked back in action and performed a backup pick up all the changes, about 50 GB since Sept. 16.

He did once again this morning, so I'm sorry I can't post what Time Machine and my Time Capsule due action to act properly.

  • How can I partition my external drive? (Time Machine)

    Hello

Time Machine doesn't accept my external drive (Seagate Backup Plus thin, 2 TB). It takes the format: "Mac OS extended (journaled):

So I searched Google and found out, that I have to partition the external flash drive.

So I opened the disk utility. But then I can't partition:

What can I do? I really need to use Time Machine.

My laptop: MacBook Air, 13', mid 2013

    Thanks for the responses,

    Tlumi

The drive must be formatted with a GUID partition map, your's with a Master Boot record.

You can copy the content to the Seagate to your mac and format it correctly, partition and copy the data back?

  • Questions of Time Machine

    I have a MacBookPro Retina Display 2012, running OS X 10.11.6.

I tried to use Time Machine to back up this system (a single) on TWO external drives.  Lately, I am having some problems.  In other words, when I try to restore, or even to find a file, I get the erratic results.  For example, earlier today, I selected a file I have to restore a previous version on my system, then entered in Time Machine.  Alas, after 'today,' Time Machine seems to see NO file in this directory, although as the graph moves in time, I'LL see quick flashes of the text, which means that the files are there...   It gets weirder, but before we get too deep, thought I would ask this:

Time Machine CAN store up to TWO external drives?  If the answer is no, then I probably have the answer.

    Thoughts?  (and thanks)

    Fred

    Fred,

I'll assume you're is not at the same time on two external drives, but rather a back up to a disk which is then disconnected and replaced by another reader for use with Time Machine.

While I'm not personally Time machine running with two external drives, I know people who did this. The danger is that it can become confusing for the user, and I'm sure you want to make sure that each volume names are distinct in order to keep track from backup is which.

Make sure your TC has no ID configuration inside apple. There is a bug at the moment that Apple introduced recently.

I highly recommend a clean installation with short names etc.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

Then redo the configuration of the computer that you want to use for TM using Airport utility.

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the wireless is still an issue defined wireless names like TC24ghz and assigned the 5 GHz other name... for example. TC5ghz

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

** 3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC.

Ignore this point if you don't understand it... after the return if you drop questions.

    4. be sure that IPv6 is set correctly in the computer. IE link-local only for ethernet or wireless depending on whether you are using. Car is not good enough.

  • Duplication, but restoration not Photos of Time machine

I have a large collection of Photos stored on my external HD that contains thousands of faces defined. Trying to solve a problem of random reboot on my new iMac, by Apple, I eliminated the files of faces in the Photos on this computer, but believe that the face IDS are intact on the external hard drive because it has not been used recently for TM backups. The last time that he saved, he supported Photos that still had the names linked to the faces. Before I take the Time Machine, I want to copy the Photos, including the names of face, of a flash drive for safes (and possibly add that the names back into the Photos once that resolve us the problem of random restart). But I can only figure out how to 'restore' Photos of Time Machine. I don't want to restore the old file Photos, because the Faces can be the source of our problem of ransom-restart. Instead, I just want to download my last copy of TM's Photos, including the names, on a drive connected to the iMac. Can someone tell me how to download the most recent file of Photos of my external hard drive to a flash drive without updating the files of Photos now running on the iMac? Thanks for the tips!

You can not copy pieces of backups TM TM don't just clone files but save changes and maintains a database showing how to reassemble the file from a specified date - you can use the software TM to restore the things - you can restore to an alternate location and then select the restored library - however It is not recommended to make changes to the content of the photo library using external software because the library is a very complex SQLite database and any change can corrupt him causing loss of data

  • I want to go back to El Capitan Yosemite, but I don't have a return upwards on Time Machine. Can you please explain what I can do to get back to Yosemite. Thank you

I would like to return to Yosemite to El Capitan as my v5 Adobe Photoshop crashes constantly, as now seems to be unstable since upgrading to El Capitan.

Unfortunately I do not have a back up of my laptop on Time Machine (stupid, I know), so how can I do for the reversal, please?

Make a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different disks.

Go to the App Store purchases tab and download Yosemite. You will be probably get says can't you install it, but download it anyway. The program below to create a bootable USB key. Boot from the Flash drive, run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the hard disk using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS extended (journaled), then click on the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the operating system. Use the installation wizard to restore your Time Machine data.

  • Backups Time Machine missing after model clean install

For a Mac using Time Machine to back up, is there a way to clean install OS X for a new internal SSD and keeps backups Time Machine historical which have been made using the previous internal SSD?  While as I use it to back up the new internal SSD TM, TM will show the backup history of both the previous internal SSD and the new (up to the capacity of the disc from the TimeCapsule).

MacBookPro8, 2 I used Time Machine on a time Capsule TB 3 towards the rear for 2 years. No problems and shows 2.24 available 3 TB.

Last night I did a clean model 10.11.5 install a new SSD, and a transfer application, the user accounts Migration Wizard, etc. Since the previous flash SSD disk internal (format / installed the new SSD, attached to the internal SSD previous via USB flash disk, then started in Recovery Mode to clean the installation model to the new internal SSD and when prompted did the previous internal SSD Migration Assistant).

Everything no problem above went very well. But now when I "TimeMachine enter", I see that the most recent backup made (before the clean install).  The right navigation (which goes in reverse chronological order of the lower part of the screen to the top) seems to show the date on which the previous backups have been identified.  But if I click on a date, TM Finder main window does not scroll from that date. The top / arrow down buttons to the right of the main window of Finder TM also do not respond to clicks.

So far as I can tell, I've lost all TM backups except the most recent. I have all saved data elsewhere outside time Capsule, so between that and the 1 backup, I can see in TM I have not lost anything.

If I had done the Migration Wizard from the TimeCapsule rather than the previous internal SSD flash drive, would that have kept all historical TM backups?

    Thanks for any idea

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.
