Flatten layers

Hello

Appreciate any input anyone could have

I am trying to automate some tasks that I do frequently and one of these is to FLATTEN the LAYERS

When I click on the tab layers on the left and select FLATTEN LAYERS in the menu drop-down, it works perfectly

But when I click "flatten visible layers" in the preflight window it does absolutely nothing

I'm confused...

Thank you

Dave

It works for me in Acrobat DC.

Sometimes you must close and reopen the PDF document for an accurate display. Look for the updates.

I'm using CS5. When I made a few adjustments (layers) size was 100MBs. It was a photo of a painting. When I flattened the image size is gone to 50MBs. Why? How canI keep original size?

Because you have more one layer all layers that you have been merged into a background layer without any layer mask.

  • flatten layers in photoshop by causing a change in the image

I'm having a problem with PS CC (most common) when I flatten (or create a stamp from lower layers). When I flatten a layer of 5 or more adjustments of the layers of the image changes and is not exactly the same as the last cumulative layer.

No idea what is the cause and how to avoid it?

If you zoom (100% or more), always seems to move?

I noticed something similar when I have visible stamp on a great layered document, usually when you do a final pass or something.  If I click on the new layer on and off it seems to barely less than a pixel.  However, it seems that it is actually an optical illusion; If I see it at 100%, it happens.  I tried to understand what it was and finally let down since I came to the conclusion that this does not really affect my final image.

  • Flattening layers (as in Photoshop)

    Hello

I finished a book and I would now like to flatten the pages/layers, shows only the visible like in Photoshop. However, I can't find this setting and will not send related files, etc..

Is this possible, any advice most welcome.

InDesign CS3 v5, Win 7 of last month

Well, the way to get what you want is by exporting a PDF file. If it's still an InDesign file, then almost anything:

you will still need linked, image files

you will still be able to edit objects

you will always be able to move objects on the page

and so on. There is no way to prevent changes in an InDesign file, I know. Now, if you were to give us reasons why you want this ability to develop a given page, so we might be able to propose the means we would imitate this InDesign, all of which are very, very different from what you expect in Photoshop. However, the idea to finish a page of a doc, then locking it and move to the next page in the same document, strikes me as very strange and do not form part of any healthy mind printing workflow. If you tell us why ("I want to be able to give my co-workers where it can add text but not move or replace images INDDs"; "I want to not accidentally ruin my work once I scored it off my to-do list." ("I want to distribute models including people cannot copy objects or text") then I'm sure we can make useful suggestions; There is a lot of expertise hang out in these forums and someone will be able to make a reasonable suggestion.

  • Record in the legacy version 8 EPS flattens strokes layers and outlines

You would save in Illustrator 8 EPS for compatibility on a digital cutter/router.

Back story: I used this workflow for more than 6 years, then all of a sudden, something has changed.  I do not save the script.

Things I did to try to remedy:

    1. Restart
    2. Repair permissions in disk utility (Mac) - personally don't think that it does nothing, but well, it has been suggested.
    3. Adobe Cloud update
    4. Illustrator update
    5. OSX update
    6. Cut and paste the elements into the new document
    7. Support Adobe and receipt response "he gives a warning when recording."

I'm leaning towards the side that he is a sort of problem caused either by a corrupt, corrupt police EPS / postscript error, or combination of people and a weekend server updated.  Working with HER on this subject.

Here is a link to download two different files.  The PDF is the source file. It essentially presents requirements for the cutter/router - specifically, the designation of the layer.  The other file, EPS shows what happens when I take the PDF file and save in Illustrator 8 EPS.  Note the features are now exposed and flattened layers.

    link: https://file.ac/umoe0V83Khk/

Curious to see if others are experiencing similar results with this file and save the legacy.  Let me know.

PSE contains a bad operand and I don't see any objects inside.

Your source file has some groups with 99% opacity. This will cause the transparency flattening when saving EPS (any version), because the EPS cannot have transparency. Then the strokes can be highlighted.

Set the opacity and that should cure I guess.

  • Conversion of snapshots in layers

My query is specifically about how to do what is stated in the subject. I ruined my brain trying to find a way to do this effectively. Is the closest I've been able to understand to scroll the layers and copy them into a new doc and then copy them back but this requires the knowledge of snapshots how many there are in the original doc. What I want is to take all the instant States (regardless of the amount of snapshots) history and convert them into individual layers in the original document.

Is it possible a solution that seeks what anyone named 'snapshot' in the history of script and somehow produced history States in several layers in the source document? If so, how would you do that?

Thanks to all who can help you with this. I know little or nothing about scripts...

I also suggest flattened copy and save as a layer using merged stamp visible. To keep the flattened layers, you need to set your status non-linear story or save layer flattened on a new doc while you create.

  • Why do export to TIFF or PSD flatten image?

If I chose TIFF or PSD as the file type in the dialog box in LR CC export file is automatically placed flat. Why? It makes no sense to export in a format that supports layers and have flattened layers. The LR less should off the possibility whether to include layers just like PS. Thanks for any insight into this little intuitive behavior.

To keep the layers, you must choose export as the original in the LR export dialog box.

  • First seems to "unflatten" some layers after importing from Photoshop

    Hi all

I have a layered PSD that I imported in to first so I can add video transitions to each layer. In Photoshop, I used the finger and the blur filter of movement on some of the layers and then flattened those specific layers. I then before the full PSD (with flattened layers anti-scratch/blur) the first and all laid out on the timeline. It is very nice on the program monitor after I turn, however, when I export the video as a MP4 (I have not tried other formats), it seems that the layers of task/blur has become "not flattened" and it seems that Photoshop masks reappeared and hidden for the blur/smudge pixels that should be 'deleted' were back! I wish I could provide a sample here, but it's a client project and I can't view the public poster.

Any thoughts? Someone at - it see this issue before?

I found my problem. I had to disable the setting of "Maximum output of quality" or something like that in the export dialog box.

  • How to flatten a PDF file?

Is there a way to iron out the headers and footers AND annotations , in a PDF file?  I know that you can print to the Adobe PDF format, which will flatten the document, but this method also removes the links and bookmarks, so that it is not always an option.  I know also there is a preflight function that will flatten the fields annotions, and shape, but I also need headers and thus flattened feet.  Anyone know of a way to do this?

Headers/footers are added in the form of content to a layer (BCG), but it is not normally available for manipulation by tools in the layers pane. In addition to the fields and flattening comment annotations, preflight can flatten layers, so you can do what you want with preflight.

  • New ideas or suggestions for the flattening of the effects of layer without changing the appearance

    Hi all

I did a lot of research of ideas on how to make my simpler workflow. I meet regularly with a problem with the layer effects when they are flattened and have been unable to find the right solutions, but I was wondering if any new development came with the new versions of Photoshop that I'm somehow overlooking?

My main problem is that when I flatten layers in sections or groups (i.e. flatten only 2 layers or more together in a larger composition but not the entire compostion), layer with often methods of fusion flatten strangely. I note in particular that with shadows that I often use one color other than black, generally a shade very dark color applied to the element, the shadow is bunk. For me, it gives a much more realistic and natural look. When I flatten a layer I notice it seems to multiply it mode is stripped shadow FX unless they are flattened with nackground element, so if I used a dark blue, for example, once flattened shadow is now a shade of blue separate which appears to be in normal blending mode. I can put this drop shadow layer to multiply to restore it, but then I have to separate the element shadow of drop on its own layer of the body of the other flattened content otherwise she also well multipoy mode inherits of course, which always leaves me with a layer unwanted to deal with.

My monetary solutions vary to hide all other layers and visible fusion, which works for some things, but not the problem of shadow drop above, I will keep as things that just don't work on their own layer separate, like the shadow and just let them be if I can. In cases where this is not an option, I even hide all other layers and model the portion of the DSP which has flattened to a separate TIFF or PNG and re-import the PSD. This will sometimes work around the problem and do everything interact as you wish. It's a matter of confectioners, even if it means mental acrobatics everytime to design a workaround solution that I can use for my purposes.

I need to do often is because I work for a company of web development as a designer. Once the design is sometimes I'm going to cut and prepare it for the web (not a problem when I am doing this because I can leave as a PSD). When the other members of the team as a web developer need access to graphic files if they use Fireworks which means I need a PNG image in layers so they can rip with the software they know while maintaining transparency if necessary.

I know that some will say just to use Fireworks then but this isn't a desirable for me because I find it very restrictive fireworks on the progress of Fx and graphic manipulation. I am agree that Fireworks can be very capable and can do very nice things when you are thinking about the design of the whole site in general, but it can usually do the fx tip and manipulation that I like to use for parts of 'eye candy' of the site, especially when you use mutiple Fx on a layer with their own blending modes. I think it's more complicated to build a general site in Fireworks and import items of Phoroshop. Follow-up to good design and loading constantly the background images of space reserved for photoshop for reference is not for me!

I have a pretty decent understanding of functioning of the flattening of the layer and how the merger of modes function (like the fact that you can't have mutiple modes on a single layer, so many problems with blend modes Fx layer fusion). I'm with CS5.5 Design premium and hope that there was some progress in working with this kind of thing. I know that if I could flatten the layer shadow down with the layer she rides that would solve the question well but this is rarely possible on Web sites where you have fluid areas who need to change the size and the image with the shadow element is not always in the same place on the bottom of the site.

Would be great if, since you have the possibility to apply the individual layer blending modes, if Photoshop could have a setting to somehow flatten the layer effects and layer in it is no self clean process and then place the layer flattened within the PSD as if you imported a transparent image as a TIFF or PNG. That's essentially what I do on the extreme side of tihngs manually if necessary. It would be great if there was a way to automate this type of functionality.

Anyone know of any new or good method to deal with this sort of thing? Sorry for the long post, I tried to be as detailed as possible, I know, it is sometimes easy to misinterpret what someone asking this type of question. Thank you all for taking the time to read/answer!

To answer your specific question, do not have a background.  Adobe has established rules for manipulating combinations of layer if there is no pixel backround of first, and you may find yourself quite reasonable with your transparent throughout the image pixels.  If you save an image in PNG format, for example, when a browser renders the image that it will perform its own process to "overlay" and pixels transparent (or partially transparent) won't do not (or only partially change) the colors of the pixels behind the PNG.

  • How to reverse a PSD file that combined layers into a single layer...

    Hello

I'm not sure what happened, but I got a PSD file, I was working with multiple layers and then I saved a PDF file of the file and I think I may accidentally active files somehow because now my PSD file layers are combined in a background. How to cancel it (somehow liberate all the layers in the file again)? I need to send the PSD file with all its layers available for editing, and I have no idea how to solve this problem.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

    ashmic19

Unless you have a copy backup of the PSD layered, you can't. Once flattened and saved, you can never restore flattened layers, they are gone. Sorry... better is to save several copies so in this case in the future you don't suffer that again.

  • Layers for printing

When you create a document to send to the printer from photoshop, is it better to send it to the printer with no flattened layers or vice versa?

Also, say I want to change the shape of the image instead of the default traditional square shape, for example I want in a circle instead. How would you crop an image in a different form? Thanks in advance guys.

If you mean that you send it to your local printer (i.e., file - print to the device connected to your computer is opposed to sending the file your local printing house), the results are just as good with a multi-layer image as with a flattened image.

Regarding what makes a non-rectangular image, it sounds as if you want a rectangular image with a transparent border around something.  You'll want to investigate the selections and layers and possibly the transparency for this.

There are several ways to get there.  One of the easier giving you transparency, discounts a simple document layer, maybe do something like this:

    1. If you are working on the bottom, double click on it to make a layer.

    2. Select the ellipse selection tool in the tools Panel.

    3. draw an ellipse or a circle (holding shift down actually a circle) around the
part of the image you want to see.

    4. click inside the selection to move about according to the needs.

    5. Choose layer - add a layer mask - reveal selection.

As an alternative to step 5 above, you could do something like this:

    5. choose selection - reverse order.

    6. press the delete button.

If you have a document more complex, n-tier, you can turn this around a bit and do a top layer which is white with the exception of the circular area.

    1. draw an ellipse or a circle (holding shift down actually a circle) around the
part of the image you want to see.

    2. choose selection - reverse order.

    3. layer - new fill layer - solid color.  Leave color: None and press [OK]

    4. When you are prompted to choose a color, select white or whatever you want to
    a matte and press [OK].

These are just two different techniques that will give you ideas that you can do with diapers hopefully.

    Try this:

    1. Open the PES Editor, on the Expert tab
    2. Go to file > New > empty file. Enter 4 "for the height & width, resolution 240 px / in background color on
    3. Activate the Rectangle tool. On the tool options bar, use a fixed size - 2 "in height & width.
    4. White foreground color chip set.
    5. Go to the selection of Edit > Stroke (outline). Do STROKE width 7px, place a STROKE inside. OK it.
    6. Press CTRL + D to get rid of "mobile dotted."

    9. Then, type PHOTOGRAPHY. It will be on a separate layer. Check this box as well.
    10. Activate the tool move and place the two lines of text
    11. Flatten layers
    12. Activate the tool based on crops and cropping.
