  Is it possible to force users to change their password after it has expired (on Windows 7 PC)? Currently our users get notifications that their password will expire in 14, 7, 3, 2 and 1 days but once the password has expired, they can still connect to their machines with the expired password. Most of our users ignores warnings and does not change their passwords until we tell them they have to (when they ring the Help Desk asking why does not their email and intranet). From memory, Windows XP machines would display a message when the connection and the password has expired and then offer screen password change. Is it possible to do the same thing in Win7? Similar to how if you assign to a user account "must change password at next login" it gives the password screen change automatically. Thanks in advance.

• Cannot run samples built Flex beta 3

  OK has completed the installation of Flex Builder. I chose to install Flash 9.0 in IE and FF, but for some reason when you go to the examples it asks me to install flesh 8.0. Even if I say yes to th eprompt it appears not.
  I even re-installed the SADF Active X manually and same regieterd according to the instructions on the Installation of Flex Builder 2.0 beta 3 page, but still no luck...

  I use an XML file as a dataProvider for my Flex application.
  My request is quite large and we do move a lot of data - so the XML file I use is also big enough.
  
  I have read a few tutorials and had air in-depth examples online and I'm just after a little advice. My application works, but I don't know if I went about setting up and using my data provider of the best (most effective) way.
  
  I'm basically after a few tips as to time, I go on (access) using my XML and by filling my Flex application is the best and most effective way?
  
  My request is made up of the main application (MXML) and also additional file in the form of files / components.
  
  I'll set up my connection to my XML in my application file master file using HTTPService:

  I see no problem with it.

  Your alternatives are to ignore instance variables and to query the XML directly. If you use values in many places, the Variables will be easier to use and maintain.

  Also, instead of instance variables, colld place you in the values in an "associative array" (object/hashtable), or in a dictionary.

• Rejection of Apple - "beta expired" - everyone see this before?

  Someone had a problem with the approval of Apple of their DPS2015 app with an error message indicating 'application name' beta version has expired and would not launch?

  We started the application when 2015 was in beta, but the files were converted to production months Adobe.

  I don't see anything wrong in the settings and the dev version works very well for us internally. When I called Adobe, the person said they have to others with the same question.

  Hi, I work in a multitude of technologies side Server (including PHP and ASP.NET), as well as many other clients, including Javascript, Flash, and Silverlight. I'm curious to know what Flex is for me, and how can I benefit from on this umpteenth learning technology?

  So what described Flex better:

  1. a framework for Javascript client side (like ExtJs, etc), which can be used to build browser-based or desktop-based applications
     
  2. a based as plug-in Flash another frame animation
  3. a component on the server side

  Feel free to add the right answer if I've not listed above?

  My instincts & a few basic reasearch tell me the first person to be the best description. In this case, why should I really learn Flex? We already have significant frameworks for the browser in JavaScript/Flash & Falsh as a stand-alone platform for desktop PC. What Flex offers more?

  I would really appreciate some subjective responses. Any link listing all the features of Flex together would be great.

  Flex is the best way to build applications Flash from my point of view.

  The Rapid Application Development (RAD) feature, it is really "fast" to make applications.

  Flex applications are portable on pretty much any browser and major opperating system.

  You can also create native desktop applications using Flex by air. It is also possible from Flash or Dreamweaver for example, but none are as close to reality as Flex. AIR buit in Flex Apps are native applications, for example on windows, you install by selecting path and a few other options as well and that you remove the Control Panel - Add/Remove programs.

• How the Lightroom 3 beta software

  I just purchased lightroom 3 and remove the beta version has expired now - someone knows how to do this? I moved the catalogs on line 3 and the beta is empty - just need to know if there is a program to uninstall somewhere? I'm working on a Mac by the way...

  If you have improved the Lr3 beta catalog you will need to keep because it I still have the active catalog. The only other file I would have bothered to delete would be the preferences file.

• Beta 4 or?

  So, today, it was my day to run the editor and get the message that my beta period has expired. Frustrating to say the least and I'll lose a few hours of productivity today get something put in place. A few thoughts on this:

  1. How about a days count down each time that you start the editor.
  2. Developers get hung up on the beta and then keep pulling away from them because of the expiration of the beta and the next beta is not ready is counterproductive.
  3. Create the possibility of extending a beta somehow, if your development process has slowed
  4. Can we get an another beta or just release the damn thing already so that I can buy it.

  You use an incremental update strategy of backup.  This attempts to update the full backup on the disk.  The error here is that the data UNDOTBS1 file is NOT in the database backup on the disk (in the FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA).  Bottom line: all your backups are useless without this data file in the backup.
