• Flex forum: had ZERO help here. I'm doing something wrong?

  Please do not take it wrong and please don't insult me on this thread.

  I had NO HELP whatsoever. hundreds of people have read my dilemma no comments yet. It's like I don't exist or my questions are complete shit f *-it hurts me so (OPK - I'm insecure - I'm not a pro - if, sometimes, my questions are STUPID - I am a teacher and I would make anyone feel like a C * just to ask a silly question - this is what move on education in particular.)

  I've been on the forum flash 10 years and everyone was so helpful. I always had answers to everything I asked that I not code full time and I don't work in the industry. However my company requires me to create and maintain an LMS (learnng - e-Learning management system) to more than 1,000 children. I used flash successfully for years with xml + php + mysql db.

  Now things have grown up and I need better server solutions - where Flashbuilder/flashdevelop. I looked at some examples of flex with a remote object + amfphp etc... but everyone looks at the post and ignores me. Research on the web other people have asked the same question without result. There is so little info on what I feel it is a plus.

  First of all, for a teacher I would expect rather more patience and understanding that insults people who might help you is not a great way to conquer them.

  Your questions are very precise, and the vast majority of flex developers have used your technology environment. As a beginner, it takes a start and beginning with a LMS for hundreds or even thousands of users is not ideal.

  I've built several Flex front ends for multiple users (and even a flash who had hundreds of thousands of registered users) and none of them use the battery of your development.

  I used PHP to measure or in another case, django has been used. In all cases, the interface has been via an XML Exchange.

  Many of us are very busy and don't have the time to direct a newbie of little flex knowledge to implement a complex Flex project.

  I realize that it is probably a problem of Flash Builder, rather than an issue of Flex. This is perhaps why there is no answers in the Flex forum.

  I have a volume license for CS5.5 Master Collection at my University that I just installed. 

  Everything works fine except when I go to FlexMonkey allows for automation testing, which I did for a long time in Flex 4. After about 20 actions through automation, I get the message ' don't buy not present.» With the free trial only limited records are allowed. "This isn't typo on the word version of Pouvez me change that ;-)

  I certainly have installed Premium - suggestion of Deepa I network monitor and the other totally fine features. To make sure any remaining files are around, I totally uninstalled CS5.5, deleted all the folders under Program Files Adobe, deleted the licenses.properties file in C:\ ProgramData\Adobe\Flex, emptied the trash, bought for my lunch of computer and still no luck. I started test operation and after 20 items, I get the same message: license does not exist. With the free trial only limited records are allowed. Is it possible that the Premium volume license versions do not properly activate the Automation API?

  I spent about 2 hours of frustration with four people about technical support. Very frustrating. Finally told that technical support does not support Flash Builder, only "consumer products" and I'll have to pay for the care of level 2 support. It just seems strange that I can not get the product to turn on properly and that I have to pay for technical support. , But three out of the 4 told me that after they hit impasses on the question and the fourth one I transferred to volume licensing sales, who said: oh, you can probably guess what says. What? The fourth person did tell me before transferring this volume license does not require the same type of activation so that he thinks that it does not properly activate Office Tools. Just his humble opinion.

  Sorry to let you know that the automation is allowed only when using FB Premium or Premium FBPHP licenses.

  No other licenses are considered valid, and there is a bug on our part.

• Why use Flex?

  I must admit to some curiosity about Flex. Seems what adobe is really pushing. Kind of reminds me of FoxPro and access. There are so many different ways to do things web-wise these days, I wonder why a developer might choose Flex Flash (actionscript), or others (such as the dojo) language or environment that does similar things. I am currently working on a project of e-learning that should be on CD, because the company I work for that only supports a server to allow users from outside the firewall (I work for an aerospace company) to the formation of access 'intranet' based where Captivate, Flash and Flex based applications are designed to work better.
  
  I would be interested in any justification for the use of Flex, its strengths and weaknesses, etc.

  Flex is on RIA (Rich Internet Application). If your application is self-contained and does not need access to a database of remote or other resources, you can use anything that you feel comfortable.

  Flash is for uses of media, not for business applications. DOJO is using AJAX, which is a competitor of FLEX. If you are very familiar with JavaScript, you can use with Java. DOJO is not standalone application.

  Java Fx and Silverlight are alternatives to Flex.

• TextFormat size being rounded to int

  can anyone confirm if it should be possible to define a size property cases TextFormat to a floating-point number? I'm trying to put a 12.5, but the instance Textfomat rounds the number, when it is set, back to 12.

  The as3 docs specify that the size of the TextFormat property is an object and the State that represents the value 'the size in pixels of the text in this text format '. This means that it must be a whole pixel? There is no explicit mention of the fact that it would be an int or that it cannot be a floating point number?

  I ran a test separated in flash professional cs3 IDE and I am able to create a dynamic Textfield on the stage and its size the value floating point number. Seems odd that it works, but you're not able to accomplish the same thing progrmmatically?

  I found an old post on the flex forum suggesting that incorporating the fonts 'perhaps' solve this problem, but my fonts are already integrated, so it doesn't seem to be one.

  You are right. dynamic font size is rounded to the nearest int.

• Why some Sourceallows MXML only?

  Hi I'm new to Flex and Flex forum pretty new so I hope that this question is correct.

  Take for example mx.validators.StringValidator: literature (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/mx/validators/StringVal idator.html), it seems that tooLongError, tooShortError, minLength and maxLength are available only as MXML tags. Does this mean that I can't access these properties in actionscript directly? Also, it is more difficult to browse the documentation for MXML tags that you can not show tags inherited in the same way, you can view inherited properties.

  Am I misunderstood something, or is this a common problem?

• Stop a loop graphic with Transition effect?

  I have a flash movie 30 framework with a bitmap for a background and a graphic with a wipe-In Transition, but when I play the SWF file in Flash Player, the film loop.  Is there a way to stop this?  It must be in .swf format, cannot be .html.

  I wonder if there is a Flex forum?  In any case Flash Builder/Flex 4 have standard that ActionScript approaches to solving different problems.  You may search the stop(); actions in the adobe ActionScript 3.0 reference and see if Flex has no matter what stop(); separate measures of ActionScript standard.

  If testxml.xml contains & lt; (or & rt;), it works fine, but as soon as I put this character, while the compilation works, the application does not appear in my browser (I use Linux, I have no error message).

  I want to create an app for iPad, where the user can browse and view pdf file.

  You must set the dataProvider on the dg after completing the dataprovider with data so spend aDg.dataProvider = new DataProvider (myDp); at the end of the dataOnLoad method

• Smart search availability API?

  I'm looking to use the smart search with netStream options in a next project. Currently, we use Flash CS4 and it seems that this API is not available. Am I right on that? It is only available in CS5 Flash Professional as going? What is Flex? Which version of Flex is required to access the chip looking for APIs? I'm this misunderstanding, and Smart Search API is only AS server-side?

  Hi Adam,.

  Smart Seek is available only post flash player 10.1 and FMS 3.5.3 and above. CS4 has component of flash player 10.0 and so this API is not available but CS5 component a 10.1. Flex4 has component player 10.1, you must set the flash 10.1 player in the compiler settings. • Data scrolling problem

  I have an application that displays a thumbnail image inside a cell in a DataGrid control.  Not every line must include a thumbnail but can.  If you have a few enough items in the datagrid so that scrolling is not necessary that you add 2 thumbnails at the top of the DataGrid that imposes the use of the scroll bar in the DataGrid then if you try to scroll it pops up.  As far as I know what is happening is when these two first lines are no longer visible in the datagrid control, the image is rendered more which allows line to return to normal, which in turn makes the still visible lines which, in turn, requires the use of the scroll bar height. Video of the occurrence of the problem can be seen below.  When the images are red and the mouse cursor is positioned on the DataGrid I am usign the scroll wheel.

  Thank you provide video and the sample project, he made it clear the problem much easier.  I think the problem you are having has to do with recycling point converters.  I checked this problem using your application in a web browser which lead me to the flex forums.  I found this post that looks like:

  From there on, I also found Alex Harui blog post: MX DataGrid, list, and VariableRowHeight

• Published SWF playing fast when file

  I wrote this in Flash Catalyst Forum:

  "I have a CF project which has 6 SWFs into it. When I run them as flash outside the CF, they run very well. I have the frames per second series 1 in Flash. When I import to CF, then publsih, that they are running at a very high speed. How I keep the fps that I put in place in flash? »

The option only two I can think of is to redo the animations to run at 24 frames per second, or whether there is an ActionScript code that can be added in Flash Builder which can rest the reading rate.
