Flow control

We have been asked by the Cisco TAC to enable control flow on all our servers. Is there a way to enable flow control on our 4 ESX servers or virtual machine for themselves? We tried for this search, but we found nothing to vSphere 4. Flow control is already enabled on the switches.

It is probably already enabled on your Teddy bear driver:

  • Where lives the logic for the types of flow control step?

For most types of step, the behavior of the type of the step is determined entirely by the configuration of the stage - that is to say, the properties that can be configured in the window type, such as the properties of the step, steps, etc..  But as far as I know, the behavior of the control flow step types (for example, hop, back at the beginning of a block of loop after a late stage) does not seem to be defined by a lower level, flag, attribute or any other configuration item - it seems to be something inherent to the motor TestStand.

If this is the case, how the TestStand engine knows to provide the functionality for a particular flow control step type?  It runs the appropriate logic based on the name of the step type?  I suspect that this may be the case, because if I create new types of step in copying the types of step ForEach and end without any changes other than to specify the new name for the beginning of the block and end step types, new types of step repeat not the loops as expected.

Can someone clear this up for me?  Types of flow control step break the model completely define the features by changing the type of step, or I am simply not find relevant configuration items?  I tried to create a new type of end step that allows an expression pre, but it broke my step ForEach (new) type loopback functionality.  Is it possible to do what I want?

You are right that the engine processes specially the flow control measures. He looks at the name of step type. If you want the same behavior execution, you must keep the original name of type step as a prefix on your step type name, such as NI_Flow_End_CustomizedByMe.

    Also, check out the http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/copy-of-NI-Flow-End-does-not-work/m-p/290170/highlight/true#M88...

There is the source code that is similar to what the engine makes the steps of flow control. That was the actual code before it moved into the engine. It might be a bit outdated now. I found this on my machine in C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\TestStand 2010\Components\StepTypes\FlowControl\

  • Flow control and Jumbo Mtu

    Hello

I have a Dell document "Win-Hyperv-2012OS-Config". He asserts that before installing the kit EQL HIT, we have to configure network (tool of Broadcom Advanced Configuration Suite (BINS)) as:

    Option

    Value

    Flow control

    Rx & Tx active

    Jumbo Mtu

    9014

Is it worth for native Windows 2012 grouping configuration?
Now I see MTU is configured 1500 on all cards, has it be changed and why?

    Thank you

You use grouping of NETWORK adapters on a Windows host storage EQL. You can see odd behavior and errors when trying to write to a volume and have only one connection (because THINGS that there is only one card NETWORK).

Under the special workloads and environments a MTU of 9000 (Jumbo) * can * give you better performance. For sure, you will see a higher latency.

You must configure your pSwitch first, and then the driver/NIC in the host operating system.  The EQL use JumboFrames automatically if the initiator connects successfully with a MTU of 9000. See the 'reports' in the EQL GroupManager tab. Hold the mouse on one of the initiator of connection messages and look at the end of the line.

  • How to check link flow control works on EqualLogic?

I recently had to disable DCB on different switches did not fully support DCB.  Now I want to ensure that EqualLogic Arrays use correctly the link flow control.  I remember a message in the event log earlier who said that flow control is enabled on all interfaces, but I wonder if there is an easier way and makes it more definitive to me to check if flow control is enabled and working on the EqualLogic arrays.  The firmware version is 7.0.9.  I have enabled in the EqualLogic group DCB (as recommended by Dell) and disabled on Ethernet switches.  Thank you.

    Hello

You need to check the switches, they should show it is activated or not.   EQL paintings will never SEND a pause frame to the switch, it will however, respond to the flowcontrol if make him recover from the switch.

Note: Not all switches support send flowcontrol.

  • EqualLogic PS4110X flow control problem

I configured two Powerconnect 8024F switches for use with Equallogic. The firmware version on is 5.0.0.4 and Equallogic firmware 6.0.1 version. I have one on the other's and I use 6 ports on each switch for this. I configured the ports for use with servers accessing the equallogic and equallogic. I created VLANS separated, the size of the mtu 9216 set and enable flow control. Here's the problem: I got an error, or should I say warning on Equallogic saying only: Ethernet flow control has been disabled on one or more interfaces. I checked severeal times configuration but could not find any problems.

Any suggestion what could be the problem?

Thank you very much for the help!

    Rafko

Data Center Bridging is enabled.  DCB is not entirely supported by 8024F switches.   This causes flowcontrol standard port must be disabled.  Disable DCB is in the EQL GUI interface, under group settings.

    This will solve the problem.

    Toute aide/conseils serait formidable.

    Merci.

  • Configure flow control Intel x 520 10GbE

I'm testing a Dell R710 equipped 5.1 ESX host to an Intel X 520 10GbE iSCSI traffic map. The model # is 82599EB. I connect to Force10 S4810 switches. The switches have frames and active flow control. For some reason, I can't activate control of flow on the network card. If I run ethtool I see this auto-negotiation is enabled, rx out tx off. If I try to activate rx TX on, the command has completed, but they both remain out of.

Network adapter ports are configured with the EqualLogic MEM and a standard vswitch.

Anyone who is familiar with these network cards and switches?

If the switches support 802. 3 x flow control autonegotiation and activated, you actually should not have to configure anything on the hosts.

Try disabling the auto-negotiation before you activate by the force of flow of the side control ESXi; He might just come back automatically until autoneg is enabled:

    # ethtool - break vmnic0 autoneg off

It also can't hurt to reset the link after the changes in re-plugging the cables or via the re-opening of link autonegotiation of the host as:

    # esxcfg - NICS - auto vmnic0

Also check which version of the NETWORK adapter driver you are running / installed:

    # ethtool-i vmnic0
    [...]
list of vib # esxcli software | grep IGB
    NET-IGB 2.0.84.8.2 - 10vmw.500.0.0.469512 VMware VMwareCertified 2011-12-29

The latest driver for your NETWORK card available to IGB seems to be published 3.11.32 the month last update if necessary:

  • iSCSI Flow Control vs Jumbo Frames

It seems with my setup (HP 1800 - 24G switches) I'll have to choose between two frames of flow of GOLD for iSCSI san access control. I am running of frames with a MTU of 9000 bytes. Enabling flow control in addition to yields close to zero rate transfer jumbo frames, so I guess that its not supported by ProCurve 1800-24 G.

Which option would you recommend to improve the performance of a 2 esx Server (HP DL380G5 ESX 3.5 U2), 1 san installation (HP MSA 2012i, two controllers)?

Virtualized applications include databases (SAP, Exchange) aswell as moderate use fileserver (actions of the user, company documents).

I have read other threads on this topic but did not come to a clear conclusion.

    Best regards, Felix Buenemann

the 1800-24 has a size of 500KB packet buffer.  The specs don't say if this is by port or chassis however since 1800-8A 144KB of buffer space I guess it's chassis, it is not very good news for iSCSI.

If you have not enough space buffer per port, you can run with a loss of images during periods of high flow.  Loss of images means that TCP will re-transimt the framework and which is slow (compared to normal operation).  I would choose allow control of flow on Jumbos, flow control indicate the end device to stop sending framesuntil the switch has had time to process these images.

  • 11.1.2 - flow control flow task property case "If"?

I noted in the docs for JDev 11.1.2 this workflow case of flow control now have a property '' if. ''

What it does is obvious, but why is she included when we already have the router me escapes when the idea of the workflow diagrammer is to show the flow branches & logical application schematically?

I must be missing something subtle here. Can someone comment please on what is the use case for the inclusion of this service, and specifically why is it not sufficient router? Why another way to make logical connection that is hidden in the diagram?

Reflections and comments appreciated (not to mention that someone tries to explain boolean conditional if statements for me)

I guess its also by with JSF 2.0 as explained here

  • Custom properties is not set to Flow Control (OWD 10.1)

    Hello

I have defined a custom property level controls in OPM and am looking for in a custom control provider.
However, I note that the control that I'm interested in (a Flow Control - seen in the debugger as an InterviewGoalInterviewControl with an internal ProceduralGoal) has no properties defined. All other types of controls on my screen (labels and regular goals), however, see the custom property.
I do a quick search of the forum - but could not see someone else who has raised this. Anyone knows similar behavior?
    It's using OWD 10.1

    Thank you

    Luke

Hi Luke, I also receive all properties on the control of flow (via the Java API v10.1). If all else fails, I guess you could put the property on the underlying attribute (not ideal but should work).

  • Page fragment bounded-task-Flow Control Flow Help

    jDeveloper: 11.1.1.0.2

I have a question to try to understand the correct way to use control flow case between a bounded-task-flow with fragments of page and a page without limits-task-flow. We have taken the approach of our application to have some shell / container pages to host bounded task flows composed of fragments of page to facilitate the reuse and accelerate development. There are 4 or 5 pages of shell on the unlimited-task-flow applications. From now on, we have about 20 fragments of page that are implemented as a bounded flow task. These fragments don't do much now, which means there is only a single fragment in each delimited-task-flow. The question that I'm going to try to call action from navigation to control flow of one of the fragments to load a page another shell.

For example, shellPage1.jspx contains fragment-flow-1 as a region. In my adfc-config I have shellPage1.jspx and shellPage2.jspx, with the case of 'toShell1' and 'toShell2' control flow, respectively linking two pages. I have a link action related to the 'toShell2' in the fragment that make up fragment-flow-1. When the application is run, shellPage1.jspx and its fragment are displayed. But clicking on the link in the fragment ("toShell2") do absolutely nothing. This not me access the shellPage2.jspx as expected. What I do wrong here or do not understand?

If the fragment is included as include a JSP page, and not a narrow-minded, all workflow works as expected. This is not desirable, as we then need to copy the fragment pageDef in pageDef of the shellPage to get the DataControls function.
If the faces - config.xml is used instead, and a case of JSF navigation is used, it also works as expected. This is not desirable because we really do want to be mixing adcf-config and faces-config.

So I am really puzzled here... Thanks in advance!

    Hello:
In your case, the adfc - config.xml has the case of flow control between the pages of the shell. And the task-flow - N.xml or yours-task - flow.xml for each default page fragment does not inherit control flow of the page containing the shell case. In your case, in the task of page fragment - flow.xml, you must add a "Parent Action' to sink to shell page2 for example. The result of 'Parent Action' would be 'toShell2' If you call ShellPage1 page fragment.
Is it 'OK' or 'Useful' for you? Please mark it as if it does.
    Good luck

    Alex

  • Public static Control vs Flow Control

What is the difference between these two control static vs Flow Control

    Hi-

Trying to explain in detail, assume that if you have a store of data with all of the records in that and he wanted to check the integrity of data from existing records in the table (datastore) individual. Then you must use the STATIC control.

To do this, you will need to drag and drop the table (data store) in your package, we can say that this is a check of data store.

Please note: we are not slipped into the interface.

If you want to test and play with control static option do the steps below:

    1. create a new package
    2. drag & drop from any of your model data store
    3. choose CKM for this model (model Goto who belongs to the data store and goto the tab control, and then select CKM)
    4. in the execution of a package, give username & password info.

Finally, you will get the error records in the table of $ E, but all the records in error will be existing in your data store.

Hopefully this will clarify your doubts.

    Thank you

  • The relay through time and Total flow control

    Hi all

I'm relatively new to Labview and have worked on a great program from lately, which uses a Module with my cDAQ-9178 OR relay SPST 9481 to open and close the 3 different solenoids. The program should open at a specific time and leave it open until a certain amount of flow is passed through them. I already finished the programming to record the total flow through the valves, and after many hours past the forums I found a way and changes in the code that turns on the relay based on the amount of time spent searching, however it turns on the relay and leave them on until the 'period' are filled then pass on the next round. I need to change this option further so that it lights when my "Cycle Start Time" is reached, turns off when reaching the set amount of flow for this cycle and then continues to wait until the next "Cycle Start Time" occurs.

I imagined a way to proceed would be; by eliminating where departures from the clock a new cycle each run and just have it constantly by comparing the time of "Initial start (run)" 'Start' time sequence (when I push the start sequence and actually start to opening the relay). Then change the "delay" to 'Cycle start time' and the (> =) function to a function (=). So now, it begins after the elapsed time is equal to the start time of Cycle. Certainly, this opens the questions, because currently, at the beginning of the cycle the command of the relay begins. So I need make my comparison outside the case 'Cycle' or move the control relay in the case of 'true/false '. However, then I run the question of how to get the software to change the case once he saw to stop the relay.

As you can see, I have about 1 million different things in my head that I played with. Advice or assistance to get me on the right track, or you know of examples would be great! My code is attached below, and I'll post a photo after this post about how I'm taking care to record the total flow. Thank you for your time and help!

    Hi M_Blaylock,

You mentioned that you are relatively new to LabVIEW. Are you familiar with some of the debugging tools?

    http://www.NI.com/getting-started/LabVIEW-Basics/debug

Turning on climax execution should allow you to see the data flow through your schema. Also, probing the wire just before the input case structure should allow you to see what data is actually trying this case selector. If you get unexpected data, you can probe the front steps to see source these unexpected data.

I hope this helps and good luck with your code!
