FLV = only a white box

It's frustrating - because it was just yesterday, working A-OK. Now - nada. So, I'm looking for a FLV video into a Web page. When I put in place and go to preview in a browser (any browser) I get only a white box where the video should be. I get the dimensions correctly... link to the correct file... blah blah blah.

Again, the problem here is that only 24 hours ago this process has worked well. I might get a preview in a browser and everything was as it should. Now I'm pulling my hair out. So, what has changed on my system. Yesterday, we have installed Flash CS3 professional. We already have Dreamweaver 8 * Flash 8. However, this doesn't make much sense to be installed the new that he would break things - but it's the only thing I can think of has changed.

I did not flash for encoding. I thought that maybe there was a problem of metadata or something? But even once the video in question played great back yesterday, inside all the browser I tried: Firefox and Safari. I'm at the end of my rope here because it's one of those things that is so very difficult to resolve. I don't know what else to attemtp. Any suggestions?

So here's the deal. I "fixed it". It ends up being "operator error" and I'll show you how to...

First of all, here is some background info: I have never involving Flash in this process at all. I encoded the video in question via a 3rd party encoder. Then, as we know that I was trying to embed the video in a webpage using Dreamweaver.

This process is very simple: go to "insert > media > Flash Video. You can achieve the same result, too, by simply sliding the video in the "Files" palette directly in the Web page. Whatever it is, you are then greeted with a pop up box where you enter information for streaming vs download, what controller .swf want you, file size and so on... Once it's built, you are basically done - doing a preview in the browser and the video SHOULD be displayed.

But as you know, for me, it was not the case. So if you've read other messages then you know that I moved the files and computers 2 recipients read the videos in BROWSERS (Safari & Firefox) very well. Anyway, long story short, I then tried to copy my original at his home in the office folder and highlighted Dreamweaver in this folder as a 'site '. You know: fine on this computer in preview video finally!

If the question was the name of one of the files holding the first site. I had some symbols, namely "+" symbols in the name of the folder. When you "Preview in browser" from within Dreamweaver, he's trying to follow the paths all the way from the hard disk through the folders appropriate to the final file you are trying to view. So those + symbols in the name of the folder have been the culprit. I returned and renamed the offending file and tried to find the original files that were giving me fits - everything was fine.

So that's it. I had screwed it up with the nomenclature of bad record. Bet that I won't again. But man, I am happy to have that Monkey on my back.

dbmers, thanks for the help!

  • FLV appearing as white box?

    I am downloading 2 files flv to our Web site. Both flv files have been published with Media Encoder to be converted to flv. This isn't the first time I downloaded flv files on our site. We add our tv spots through flv, on average, every 2 months or more. The procedure is always the same and I have nothing different with these new flv files. However, this time the flv files are appearing as a white box on our site instead of loading the flv players as usual. The 'live view' in Dreamweaver displays the videos properly... loads of player flv and I can watch television commercials.

    I took the two ads out of the page and added an old tv commercial, just to see if it would work, and it has worked flawlessly. But when I put 2 new tv ads, get the white box again. I revisited Media Encoder and redited ads in tv, added land to Dreamweaver and reuploaded ads, but I don't always have the same white box. I compared the old and new TV advertising code, and the code is exactly the same (except for the file name, of course). I checked to see if the new tv commercials were made differently from our "old", and they were not. Swfobject, expressinstall scripts are already uploaded to our site since we use different flash on the site files (don't know if it's even important!). And whenever I download, the download skin and progressive player as well.

    I am at a loss! Nothing should change with our hosting company. I took an old, working tv spot on our Web site to present the new. I have no idea where to go from here. The specific page on our site is www.ourphf.com/currentad.html. I tried to download new videos in all sizes from different institutions, thinking maybe it was a question of size. Help, please!

  • DW4: FLV video showing white box

    I'm reading all the messages past, but necessary to get to this point to a customer quickly and have not yet found an answer to my question.

    I had a .mp4 file that I converted to .flv using Media Encoder. I inserted the .flv file according to the instructions. I have now the .flv, as well as the clear_skin_1.swf file file and the file in one folder. The expressinstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js files in the scripts folder. I loaded both on my server. When viewing in the browser, I get is just white box.

    So why do the white box on Firefox?

    Hello

    You use a nightly build of Firefox which is intended only for testing. However, I recommend that you download the latest version of Firefox, or try reinstalling your nightly build.

    Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

    Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

    More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

    WARNING: Uninstaller or the use of Firefox and not run a third remover as part of this process, because who could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. These can be recovered, unless they have been backed up on an external device!

  • Appear only as white background videos in Firefox

    I read day and following all the leads I have found to fix this problem. When on Youtube or any other video site that uses Flash, when you select a video to watch, it shows only a white background where has to play the video. Right click in the white box, not display a dialog box, so I can not even choose the Flash settings. Because I can't go in the settings, I can't check to see if activate hardware acceleration is checked or not. If I go here, http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-64-bit-operating.html below:

    If Flash Player is installed on your browser, the following box shows the version of Flash Player and your operating system. If Flash Player is not installed, you receive an error message.

    What I see is an empty area.

    When I had the problem to fix, this laptop was running 20 Firefox and Flash Player 14. I upgraded to Firefox 28.0 and a clean install of FP 14, no change. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash according to the stricter guidelines. I even dug up an old version and tried, but no joy. I have the exact same configuration running on other machines, and they play videos, although on one in particular, Flash Player crash more I want. I digress... my specs are the following:

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

    Firefox 28.0.1

    Flash Player 14.0 (latest version as of 28/07/2014

    If Flash is installed, it only works in Internet Explorer. If I uninstall Flash, videos Youtube will play in IE and Firefox, using the HTML5 versions automatically. Once FP is installed, I can not play video in Firefox, and IE uses Flash Player as if nothing is wrong.

    Help, please!

    I try to not not sellers by name in public forums, but Comodo is one of the frequent offenders.  They try to intercept the communication between Flash and Firefox, that fires our security protections and causes the Flash and Firefox to be unable to communicate.

    You can try to stop the Comodo, but I don't think that will do.  It's easy, then you might as well try it first.  Make sure that Comodo is not running and restart Firefox.  If this does not work, try to uninstall Comodo completely, restart, and there's a pretty good chance that Firefox will start magically work again.

    Hi 89r0z62cap,

    It sounds like this PDF was created from a scanned image, and you have the option 'display large Images '. Try this:

    1. Open the Preferences dialog box (Reader/Acrobat > Preferences on Mac OS;) File > Preferences on Windows).
    2. Click on the page and make sure that display large Images is selected under Page content and information.

    Who should do the trick, but let us know if it isn't.

  • Multimedia PDF shows the white box

    I have a multimedia pdf I created in Acrobat Pro XI. The file contains URLS to interactive swf files. When multimedia is activated, it appears as a white box until the media are downloaded. Many of my users have slow internet connections, so downloading takes 30-40 seconds. Is it possible to show a picture or a message "Download" until the download is complete? I'm afraid that my users will think that nothing happens because the white box appears on the screen for so long. Any other suggestions on how to deal with this problem would be appreciated.

    The only option would be to write your own preloader SWF app in Flash/Flex, which is embedded in the PDF file and in turn gets the main content of your external link.

  • Low-level Poster.png just a white box on IE8

    Hello world

    I've created a banner of edge animate very simple of an image background and two text layers that fade, it shows perfectly in everything except for IE8 (understandable) and I suppose IE7, all I see is a white box.

    I inserted the movie via Dreamweaver using Insert/Media/Edge animate Composition, he went into a "mainbanner" with CSS div:

    {#mainbanner}

    Clear: both;

    Width: 1000px;

    margin: 0 auto;

    border: 0;

    padding: 10px;

    }

    These lines of code were inserted into the < head > section of the following Dreamweaver template and page index.php:

    < meta http-equiv = "X-UA-Compatible" content = "IE = Edge" / >

    < meta http-equiv = "Content-Type" content = text/html"; Charset = UTF-8 "/ >"

    This code has been applied to the div "mainbanner" of Dreamweaver after doing Insert/Media/Edge animate Composition:

    <! - views of tag following a Composition to animate dashboard - >

    "< object id ="EdgeID"name ="EdgeID"type =" text/html"width ="1020"height ="437"data =".. "/ edgeanimate_assets/jb_mainbanner/Assets/jb_mainbanner.html" >

    < / object > < / div >

    Don't know why, a width 1000px animation has a width of 1020px shown in the code when importing again shows correctly as 1000px in the browser but good!

    I checked that the low-level (Poster.png) poster, I created has been linked to the animation. has been uploaded to the web server. shows the static version of the animation, but after an entire night trying everything I can think whatever I still get on IE8 is a white box!

    Can someone give me please help with this, thanks in advance.

    Chris

    Sort by the white box!

    I had to rename the div to be #Stage in my CSS file instead of #mainbanner.

    Only problem now is that IE8 now does not want to recognize the #Stage div and place the foot bar of page behind the top of the Poster.png displayed correctly.   Argh!

  • Insert a FLA and only see white screen where the animation should be

    When I import a FLA on my site with dreamweaver and test the site, I get a white box where the flash movie should be. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong because I save the flash file, then enter in DW, using the media to the common address Insert tab, and end up with a white screen empty when I go live.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hello

    looking for your source code, it seems to me what you want iunsert a FLA ('PracticeMovingBanner. FLA")." To my knowledge, that is not possible. You first convert them these types in a flv or swf file.

  • white box prior to flash

    Hi all

    I've done my homework but is not a simple fix.

    I loaded a movie FLV to 3 sec with a black background on my page index.html using Dreamweaver and the movie will start automatically.  The index.html page has black background to match the background of the FLV movie.  1 second or two before the logo plays see you a "very distracting" white box (white screen) when the flash player opens (surrounded by black).  Once it opens all right.

    I have tried the Ant and see questions similar but did not see a response...

    Thank you
