• Width of list of tabbed browsing

  For our navigation in our application, we away tabs and started using a list of Navigation by tabs.
  This list is now starting to become a bit long and extends larger than the screen, so the user must scroll on.
  I've seen with tabs, if the tabs are too big for the screen, then they are displayed on a new line.
  Is this possible with a list of Navigation by tabs?

  View Point Page model Position 1 in the region
  
  I tried using the width = "700px" in the attributes of the region, but made no difference.

  There is no #REGION_ATTRIBUTES # in the list of tabbed browsing.

  It would not be. It is not a model of the region.

  The problem is that despite its name (big hint here Oracle), 15 theme List of tabbed browsing model is based on a table of the single line of HTML, not a part of the actual list. All the containers in the list are also tables. HTML tables develop to fit their content, so that they will ignore all attempts to coerce their width using CSS (with the exception where doing so would also hide the content, that is not a viable solution in this case), or they will automatically go to a new line. (I also noticed that when I try to reproduce this on apex.oracle.com the following list looks nothing like "tabs": what you're seeing?)

  You have basically reached the limit of what it is possible to have visible on screen without scrolling using the APEX theme/version/model. You can copy a real model based on a list of another theme (or create one from scratch) so it would be for multiple lines automatically.

  However, it may indicate that it is time for a questioning of your navigation mechanisms. Consider using vertical rather than horizontal lists, or several levels of tabs/lists?

• Reinforcement anchored to drifting

  I use TCS4 (FM11, RH10).

  On the FM band, I add images (import by reference), the framework anchored on 'Run in the paragraph' and justified it to the right.  Seems good and published to PDF very well.

  HR imports them and does not take into account the anchored Frame spacing.  If the text is not deep enough to span the image depth, HR superimposed on the image, preferring to manage the spacing of the text.  Photos on photos.

  How can I say RH to honor the anchors put in FM? I hope that this is a parameter in HR, because there are a lot of pictures and it would be a pain to have to change each one individually.

  If the memories are good, I applied a Style object to my trouble, allowing me to redefine the Style of the object with a FrameMaker import model and change them automatically to operate in, below the current line (or whatever you want)

  Worked like a charm on 1000 + frames.

• Is it possible to delete the new references are from an FM file?

  We used a Framemaker book model which was created 15 years ago to create technical manuals. We have modified this model many times. It is quite complex, but the main objective is to keep the appearance, structure, etc., consistent among writers to interrogate. It works well.

  We used initially times and Helvetica as the primary font. Now, we use other fonts. It was a tedious job to replace all instances of time and Helvetica in the paragraph and character designers.

  Here's the problem:

  Theoretically, these fonts should be gone.

  But if I open the model, even with no content files, I get this message in the Console of Frame:

  XXX of fonts is not available.               (where xxx is Helvetica or Times, or variants)

  zzz will be used during this session.

  I don't see this problem until today, because my computer was just reimagee by IT and so I have more these (Postscript) fonts installed. Setting think that these fonts are always used in the different chapters of FM. But he shouldn't have them.

  I got to thinking how old is our model and so I 'looked at' one of the models, chapter.fm files. I renamed the file chapter.txt and was able to open with Notepad. I found about 40 references to Helvetica buried in the code of the image (some of them "machine language"). It was certainly revealing. My real question is, is anyway to purge these references of font files? The file structure is quite complex, and I wouldn't think of changing these files. I'm sure that it wouldn't work, and Adobe would probably stop me if I did.

  Is there an editor of MIF or similar that could do that?

  I could reinstall these fonts to work around the problem, but they are not really used and if I would be rather purge references to the police if I can.

  Can someone say: create a new template. If we did, we would like it to be the same as the one we have. It is complex enough that we can not just take the time to do so. It would take days and days.

  Bill,

  You don't say what version of FM that you use. In FM10, there is a new font replacement tool that allows you to remap the "missing" fonts to something else.

  The alternative is to make permanent the mappings for Helvetica and Times by changing the preference "Names of missing fonts don't forget" and save the file. This will change everything that is defined in your maker.ini section [UnknownToKnownFontMap].

  [Original] Once you have saved the file with this preference turned off, you can turn it back on again the next time that you open the file. This will blow the old references.

• Entity displayed in the browser, but not displayed in the logic model

  In a drawing, I got myself in a situation where two entities are identified in the logic model of the browser, but are not as on the logical schema. I have created the entities, but removed later. However, when I engineer the logic of the relational model, two tables based on the entities are created. I do something wrong, or is this a bug, entities having not correctly deleted for some reason any?

  Hi John,.

  There is a problem in version 4.1.1 of maker of data if some entities or other objects are deleted from a template that has already been registered.  On the next saved position, the saved definition only is not updated correctly, and deleted items reappear on the loading of this registered version.

  This will be addressed in the next version.

  In the meantime, the workaround is to use save them as rather Save to save your template.

• FrameMaker 11 crashes when importing model

  I create books of 100 + documents. When I try to import the template to all the documents in a book, FrameMaker 11 stops working. I tried important model to small groups of documents (10 or less) and it hangs stil. Sometimes after trying this with the same group of documents more than once, it will finally work. I'd rather not have import the model into every individual in the book documents because it's a lot of time. Is there a way to apply the model on the entire book quickly without it crashing?

  There could be a number of reasons that this happens.

  All documents are in format FM11 or are they older versions of FM? They have the latest version. Also what your patched to 11.0.2 FM11?

  These documents contain graphics imported by copy? Maybe it's access to the resources on your computer. Make sure you have plenty of space in your TIME zone system. In addition, depending on what type of anti-virus software you have, try back composition or tell compltely ignore FM files, in case it is too aggressive and keep a control file all FM is trying to change with the model.

  Open all files before you apply the template. This will also give you the chance to gracefully back - UO if you do not want the same tempalte applied to all of them, that is, you explicitly to save. IF crash you while opeing the files, it implies either a question of resources, or possibly a file corrupt (s).

  Try a MIF-wash on files where there is some cruft in there.

• Model used within a doc FrameMaker file?

  I hope it's a quick and simple question for a person.

  How to make an * existing * FrameMaker file and determine what, if any, model file was used to create?  I have not found a dialog window which allows me to determine what template file has been used.

  I'm not creating a template file or I have created a new document in FrameMaker.  I just want to open an * existing * doc FM and determine what template file has been used in its creation.

  You can not.

  FM can import content formatting other files and the process is additive, so a specific document can be created from a combination of a number any of "templates." Any FM file can be a model for all other FM files.

  You will need to compare the features in the doc FM file in your template file (s). There may be something unique on the reference pages that can make this task easier. A properly developed model must be documented and contain enough documentation internal to this obvious failry.

• Batch import model to a lot of FrameMaker files?

  Let's say I have a book of reference-commands and 100 separate FrameMaker files. I need to change the model. FrameMaker offers a way to batch to import the new template to these 100 files? Or have do import one at a time, 100 times?

  Create a temporary file book containing these 100 files, then use the option import book sizes to apply the template to all files of 100. You can ignore the book file when you are finished.

• Update models and browser issues

  I tried to reorganize my site by placing files in folders so that it will make it easier for me to update, I have them loaded on the server, but the links still point to the old locations. I tried several times deleting and reloading these files with no luck. Part of the problem is that I did something to screw up the preview in browser option, when I try to preview in browser, it takes me straight to the remote site.
