Folder "Programs" that appears on the desktop of vista (32 bit)

After that I installed all the software, the shortcuts for this software are created on my desktop under another folder created, called "programs". When I check the start menu, it displays the name of the software but shortcut directories are right of my screen. My C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program folder is empty and the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu folder has all the shortcuts. I searched by all kinds of forums for this problem, but none seemed to have a real solution.

Try this... (hope this isn't too late)
Right click on the "Programs" folder > Properties > do you see location tab? If so, select it > Restore Default > OK

Reset. It is still there or gone?

Since last week, the elements that I save in Notepad appear on the desktop. I tried the following recommended solution, (I use win7 64 bit with Chrome) but it did not work.

Hide the protected files (recommended) operating system setting in Folder Options hide both Desktop.ini files, as well. To access the Folder Options, open Windows Explorer, click on organize, click on the folder and Search Options , and select the view tab.

Does anyone have another solution for this problem?

Windows 'Save' or ' Save as ' dialog box will save files to the folder indicated in the top bar (circled in red in the image below).

The bar indicates the location where you saved finally something.  If you do not want to save the file to this location, click the arrow to the right of the bar to select from a list of recent locations where you saved the files, or select a folder from the list in the left pane.  For example, in the figure below, use click on 'Documents' in the left pane, and the bar has changed accordingly.

If there is a folder in the right pane (for example, new folder in the above example), double-clicking on it will change again the location where the file will be stored.

  • Import of files in the folder of the Office not a not appear on the desktop.

One day, my office was somehow deleted 80% of its elements. They were always in the desktop folder, but did not appear on my real desk.

I found that if I drag and drop a file on the desktop, it shows well, but if I put it in the folder on the desktop, it does not appear on my desktop.

I did a bunch of files moving and recreated the files on my desktop. However, same problem still exists.

    Help?

Interesting! It looked like to my desktop folder was in my folder "c:\Users\mark" (my username), but he was really in my folder "c:\Users\mark\Contacts". I moved it to my ' folder typeset and all the icons on my desktop has disappeared except computers, network, trash and Mark. "

Then, when I put a new file in the "c:\Users\mark\Desktop" folder, all missing icons appeared on my desk in a Flash, and everything seems to work again.

Thanks - I should have dragged and deposited the desktop folder in contacts, and because he was in Contacts, record changes appear on the desktop, even though when I did drag an item on the desktop (vs the folder), he went in the end folder... Weird.

    Thank you!

  • downloads do not appear on the desktop or in a folder

If I download a program, save it on the desktop or a folder, the program does not show upward (I can't find it). If I download the program again, it says that the program is already here and I want to write. This only happens on this one computer, Dell.

Maybe downloads are being hidden by a reason any.  Go to start / Control Panel / folder Options / view / and check the box to show system files and hidden.  While you are there, uncheck the box for Hide extensions of known file types (which can be useful later).  Now let's see if you can see the downloads.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

    I hope this helps.

  • Name of the program that appear correctly while uninstalling ActiveX

    Hello

I'm having a problem with ActiveX 10 uninstall. When you go to unistall it, it will give the list of active programs running currently using 10 ActiveX. My program uses ActiveX 10 during the race and will appear in the list, however, for a reason that the case is incorrect. The product name is always displayed in lowercase, while other programs, for example, Yahoo Messenger, will appear with the correct case. This may not seem like the biggest problem, but the part of the name of the product is in the crankcase, so I would like to get this resolved.

My question is, where is this name being pulled from? I checked the name .exe/image, the name of the process, threads, etc. and that you do not find where that name comes from.

During uninstall, this program is called which is what shows the wrong tube product name: \Macromed\Flash\FlashUtil10q_ActiveX.exe

    I use a Windows 7 OS, Flash 10.3.181.14, FF4.

Any ideas or suggestions would be really useful!

    Hello JD at Adobe.

The name that appears in the dialog conflict is the name of your application, in tiny letters, less the ".exe", as it is returned by the operating system. You are right that some selection of applications appear with the so-called 'friendly names '. This is because these applications are very popular and have been determined for applications that cause the majority of conflicts with our installers/uninstall programs. To provide our customers better feedback what applications they should close for installation success, these friendly names are displayed instead of the raw process names.

At this point, choosing a good process name is your best way to appear in a meaningful way in the conflict of our installers/uninstall programs dialog box. We do not CAP support.

However, according to your comments, we opened an enhancement request for a future version of our installation/uninstall programs.

Thank you for being a valued Forum Adobe user.

  • Unknown to the programs that run in the background, slowing down the computer

System resources are always be taxed.  How to get to the screen that lists all the programs that start automatically at system boot?  How to identify unnecessary programs in startup list?  Once identified, how to eliminate these programs?

    Hello DcR3, levels,

How to get to the screen that lists all the programs that start automatically at system boot? How to identify unnecessary programs in startup list? Once identified, how to eliminate these programs?

I would say do not delete program files if you are unsure what it is.  You can do a search online of a file if you don't know exactly what it is.

    To view startup programs:

Right-click on the icon in the start menu. Select "Explorer" from the menu that appears
Find the 'Programs' folder in the pane on the left side of the dialog window. Click the plus sign "+" to expand the tree of folders
Click the "Startup" folder to view the programs that start up when your computer is turned on

Go to the start menu. In the menu list, click on 'run '.

Type "msconfig" without the quotes in the text bar. Click on 'OK '.

Click on the "Startup" tab in the dialog window of the System Configuration that is displayed.

Scroll down to see all of the programs and program files that start up when your computer is turned on.

  • Open folders do not appear on the desktop.

I got my new computer with Windows7 installed two weeks ago.  My problem is that all of a sudden I can access is no longer the contents of all folders.  If I double click on the "computer" folder or the folder "Drive C" or anything else, I don't see anything; without opening the file appears on the screen.  However, if I look in the Task Manager, the folder I tried to open is displayed as "running."  But the folder does not appear on the screen.  It seems so that Windows Explorer is running, but does not properly.  This problem only occurs under my log-in user (which is a user of the administrator).  There are 4 other users 'Standard' on the computer and the problem does not occur on their desktop computers.

The last thing I did before this problem started to happen was to go to start-> games and I tried briefly one of the games 'free trial '. Of course, I do know for sure that the game is what has caused the problem, but it was the last thing I did before I noticed the problem.  Previously, the files opened normally.

    Any suggestions?

You run any virus protection software?  If this isn't the case, I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials.  It is light, goes fast and is free from Microsoft.

If you are not infected, a possible step could be to try to use system restore to roll back to a time before the problem began.  Click Start, type 'Restore' and then select the system restore.  Choose a date before you had problems and follow the instructions.

  • Where is the location of the file Outlook.pst in Windows 7, the AppData folder does not appear in the user specific folder?

original title: where is the location of the Outlook.pst file in Windows 7?

I want to copy my Outlook.pst to my desktop (Windows XP Pro) data to my laptop.  Outlook displays the outlook.pst file which will be located in the "C:\Users\Specific User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" folder on my laptop.  However, when I try to access this folder in Windows Explorer, the AppData folder does not appear in the user specific folder.  I find in my office because Windows XP does not hide it, but he must hide in the Windows 7 operating system on my laptop.  How can I get it so that I can copy the file outlook.pst from my desktop to my laptop?  If the file is hidden, is there an easier way to copy outlook data from one computer to another?

  • the shortcut for the external drive icons do not appear on the desktop

Running Windows 7 Home Premium.  None of the shortcut icons of the program (on my external hard drive) appear on the desktop.  Default icons took their place and launch the correct programs when you click it.  I tried to change individual icons in the correct program ones, but that they would not.  They all used to be there!

I tried to reboot several times but that has not changed anything.

The only program added or deleated recently was free archiver B1.  I uninstalled immediately after installing and do not actually use it.

How to bring back the icons.

    Bill

    Hello Bill,

Two possibilities come to mind. The first is that the program of the archiver to change icons, in which case you will need to reinstall the program, understand how the icons have been changed, reverse the process and then uninstall the program again. Phew. Its a lot of work, but I got a program do just this thing very to my car icons and it's the process that I had to follow to cancel his "practical work"!

The other possibility is that his associates to make it an external drive, which is still not very good with Windows. Lets start with this possibility first. First of all, try this Fix It from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Windows_USB_diagnostics . Not fixed? Try this second difficulty: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/ . Still not fixed? Is the drive recognized by Windows - right disk size / type format?

If the disc itself is not recognized by Windows, try this trick. Download and install the freeware Aomei Partition Assistant application, download it from here http://download.cnet.com/AOMEI-Partition-Assistant-Standard-Edition/3000-18512_4-75118871.html?tag=mncol;1 - use the link Direct download only. Then once its installed, select the external hard drive, then select Properties. That's it, just by selecting the drive and choosing properties are sufficient to get Windows to recognize the drive.

Now that the drive is recognized by Windows, has the problem of the icon "disappeared"? If the answer is still no, then I think you need to look at the program archive as a real possibility. The only way to know of course is to install the program again and look for a setting (try Configuration) where the program changes the icons of the programs.

Post your results here and let me know how you fare.

    Kind regards
