  Try this to see if you can connect.
  Boot to safe mode.

  To access Safe Mode:
  (a) restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
  (b) select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.
  (c) when the boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

  Of in safe mode, type msconfig in the start in the start menu search box and press return. Then on the Startup tab, uncheck the box any reference to the verisign/authentec software. Then, go to the services tab, sort the columns by manufacturer, then uncheck all references to Verisign. Then click ok and restart in normal mode.

• My photosmart hp more b210 lost connection for scanning. I can print.

  My B210 worked well for a while, then it will print any more. Finally I tried to check everything reinstalled the software and configure everything again. It now prints but the scanning program cannot find the printer.

  Not a good day. Windows has not been restored. I received a message that a file was blocking it - probably an anti virus file. I have uninstall Bitdefender using their uninstall process. Same thing, so I gave up on it and I tried the scanner with no luck. I think I'll give that as long as we can use another computer, even if it's down the stairs, unless I move the B210. It still prints.

  I'm still waiting for Bitdefender to send me a new access key, so I can reinstall Bitdefender.

  I've taken enough of your time and mine. I'm going to end this now and not spend more time on it. Thanks again for your help, even if nothing has worked. Something has changed on this computer and I can never find.

  If they have access to your PC, they can install any number of malicious programs. My recommendation is to do a clean reinstall of Windows - it's the only way to be sure that your system is clean.

  If you have them paid by credit card, tell your card provider immediately what has happenend.

  All the data on your computer (passwords, credit card numbers, numbers of account documents, etc.) may have been compromised (they may not know now). According to the companies concerned (for example your bank) what happened.

  Use another PC to change passwords.

  Consider telling your local police.
