Forget previous folder Lightroom import

I have Lightroom CC (2015.6) class. Previously, if I imported into a particular folder, say/Users/fred/Pictures/lightroom (on mac), Lightroom would remember this folder so that the next import would be, by default, in the same folder. But in the last 3 months, the behavior of Lightroom changed so that the default folder every time it's the hard drive (the file system root, ' / '), not the file I imported last to. This seems to be a new bug. I prefer much the old behavior.

The previous destination folder is always selected, it's just that the folder hierarchy has been reduced:

Adobe has recognized the problem in the official Adobe feedback forum and said it will be fixed in the next version: 2015.6 Lightroom: Update can't remember the last target directory | Community customer Photoshop family

  • Lightroom CC 2015.7 / Camera Raw 9.7 / macOS Sierra - could not find the Destination folder during import

    Hello world

Sorry if this question is stupid, but I always imported files easily on my hard drive. But recently, since I've updated my Lightroom, I can't find the menu destination folder when importing photos.

I go in the menu library, choose IMPORT, select the original folder, the photos I want to import and then, on the right side, I only see the option 'create an intelligent Preview' and the option of keywords/tags. Where is the part that I could choose the destination folder - and even create subfolders?

If I click on the triangle in the lower left corner to minimize the menu, I can see the menu "create a subfolder. However, the normal display mode brings no option like that, but by selecting the main folder by clicking on the icon in the corner right-towards the top.

What Miss me? It seems not very practical for me.

    Cheers in advance!

The destination tab may have accidentally become hidden, next to one of the other header in the sidebar right and you click right there get a pop up that will allow you to restore it. See the screen capture.

  • If Lightroom import parameters of the disc or replace the disc of the catalog settings

When the 'up' arrow key appears in a thumbnail and comes up with the message:

The metadata for one or more of these photos has been changed by another application. Lightroom import settings from disk or replace drive with the catalog settings?

What exactly means?  This seems to happen every time I have to export an image in PS (CS5) and back to LR.  What has changed exactly?  Which settings are imported if I choose "import settings from disk."

I think it would be best to not think in terms of what LR 'applies' changes. Because LR stores the changes made in the catalog, the changes are "applied" to the image on export. I think that it would be preferable to use the term 'view' instead of 'apply '.

Then: when LR, you open a RAW image in PS the LR-changes made until then are displayed in PS and then "apply" when you save a PS (don't forget PS CS5 opens the RAW image).

If you do more edits in PS and save these, LR will display these changes - you will then notice on back of the PS, LR will be re - load the image. On 'Save' PS applies (and here the term 'applicable' is correct) the changes by writing them in the image file. LR reads the saved file and displays it with PS-changes.

But the LR catalog settings are still in the State of the point in time before you open the image in PS. It is so because PS writes the changes to the image file and not in the LR catalog. So now you have a set of changes in the LR catalog and another set of changes in the image file.

To describe it as ' a little 'too top' with the PS applied, changes but it really has not applied the "isn't making the case because LR 'applies' only to export. LR doing at this stage is read the image with PS-changes file and display the image accordingly.

But LR "feels" that what is displayed is not what is in the catalog online.

This is the conflict that Lr wants to solve by popping the message.

You say "if so, then you really would like to import settings from disk so that the file will be PS changes, right?  "

Yes, if you wish that your changes-PS to replace your previous changes LR.

Now, I came to where I do not fixtures in PS that I can do in LR - and I do not fixtures in LR that PS is preferable to a workflow.

In practice: in PS, I do the cloning and also noise reduction when the LR - NR is not enough (for example in the noisy analyses).

I don't do any tonal or color adjustments to the PS because it is easier in Lr and gives me better results.

When the message appears, select 'Replace disk settings' - it keeps all Lr changes and does not overwrite the cloning.

  • Drag & Drop of folder Lightroom on a new computer

I know that this has been answered once doz... and more... but 'find' a response that is not related to Version 3 or is several years old is the problem...

Anywho... Last week, I "literally" dragged my folder full of photos (and documents) in an external hard drive.  Then I got my PC wiped clean, restored and reloaded with Windows 10.

I just downloaded Adobe Creative cloud to the new - computer laptop Win-10.   I signed in CC and then downloaded Adobe Photoshop CC.

....... I am ready to download and install LR CC to my computer, but I should-

    (1) made drag the photo folder is on the external hard drive to the hard drive of the laptop first?     The "photo" folder is set by default the Lightroom folder with all my catalogs, backups, etc...

    (2) once LR is installed... it will not have files/catalog associated with all the... And that's where I get confused when you look at all the videos of YouTube, I found...   I'm confused how to get 'Lightroom' to repopulate catalogs and all the photos they were before (I have several)

    (3) clarification more...  In the use of 'Previous' in Lightroom - my catalog has worked with pictures in my laptop hard drive and external hard drive both. I need Lightroom to find all those pictures also.

    Thank you!!!

Your operating system using, put everything back where it was before. Double-click a catalog file to open it.

Future simplification proposal: use a single catalog for all your photos.

What mistake you found is because of permissions problems. Check out this link.

Error in downloading, installing or updating Adobe Creative Cloud applications

Setup cannot write files in a certain folder because it is marked as a system folder and your username does not have write permission.

The latest version of Lightroom is CC 2015.3. LR CC 2015 is out for about 9 months with 5 updates, 1, 1.1,.2,. 2.1 and maintenant.3.

Clearly, you have not a newer version. In fact, you're 6 behind, communicated LR 5.7.1 and 5 that I posted above.

  • Mysterious folder Lightroom files.

    Hello all-

I just want to preface my question by saying: I am sorry to be the kind of user who expects a quick response / solution and then leave the forum until my next problem. I'm fairly warned with Adobe apps, but I don't think I'm at a point where I could answer other users questions yet.

Switch, here is some information on my computer:

I run a 2008 Macbook Pro 5.1 wit 8 GB of ram, 128 GB SSD for my boot drive and a 256GB in my old optical Bay that I use as a storage drive. I have Lightroom and all my apps on this disk "storage" for the storage of large files.

    And here my question:

Over the last year, I flooded my folder Lightroom file cache. I think that I did of my Lightroom folder to another drive with the opening of the synchronization application. What is a reasonable explanation for what could have happened? I'm also sure about some other files.

I am aware that I need the following:

    -Corrupted catalogs

    -.lrcat files

I don't know if I need any other files like "temporary import data" or "repair temporary catalog".

I've attached screenshots below. I would really appreciate the help

You can permanently delete the Lr2 and 4 files catalog and Catalog.Previews if you're ABSOLUTELY positive you have upgraded their and no longer need them.  Temporary importation and the TemporaryRepairCatalog are files I've ever seen, but it is probably safe to delete also.  What is in the folder catalogs to corrupt? If it is no longer necessary because you have repaired your catalog that you should be able to remove it also.  You can move these files to another folder temporarily and see if Lr works very well.  If so, then delete them.  I'm glad it works for you.

  • Previous account of Import - Import Auto

    Hello

I use Auto Import to import my RAW files. Each time LR matter my files the growing County of previous import. Is there a way to reset this counter to only show a true reflection of the pictures of my previous import session?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you manually import the files to import the previous count resets itself automatically. I googled this problem and this question has been asked before - all users have been using automatic import.

Any suggestions or answers will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

If I understand your post correctly, you put a bunch of raw files in a control folder to import. Then later, you put a lot more into the same folder, and they imported. You complain that all end by in the previous import collection - this collection don't be emptied when you place the second batch of images in the control record.

I would say that it doesn't work as expected. Normally, people use the control folder to collect images that are uploaded to a tethered device, one at a time. In other words, a series of batches that contain only one image in each. If I do that, I would like that all of these images being in the previous import. I would not only the last image imported to be there. There is no way for LR distinguish between the two cases.

You use a feature in a way that goes beyond what it was designed for, and you can't wait until he does what you want it to do.

Better is to restore the JSON backup in the Bookmarks Manager.

    • Bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > restore

You can save current bookmarks to an HTML file and import this backup after you restore the backup JSON as who will replace all current bookmarks.
It is possible to unpack the JSON backup, but you'd still have to restore that backup to get the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Manager.

  • I use Lightroom CC and one of my cameras is a Canon SX-50HS. Why Lightroom importing crop images? It does not perform this task for any image created on other devices.

Automatically import the cultures these images, Yes to develop I can uncrop them but I would have preferred that the images come shot.

You can set this camera to various Image Ratio - 1:1, 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9

You set your ratio desired for JPG images.

Lightroom imports the image of full 4000 x 3000 sensor size (4:3) and applies to the culture according to 'Camera' Image ratio (16:9, perhaps).

Set camera Image ratio 4:3 in the menu of the camera and you have the problem of harvest.

  • LR 5.7 - impossible to create a new folder and import photos in this folder [was: could Adobe Lightroom Fix so that it is functional?]

I can't believe that after use adobe for years that lightroom can be this difficult to maneuver - please fix this intuitive user program. It is so far for simplicity of use. Please fix or return to support the opening. My images/files and folders are a total disaster.

.. .you you create a folder and cannot import directly in this folder, etc.

Perhaps the difficulty here, comes to design two sequential tasks, rather than one integrated task, for example:

    • Make a folder, manually put the pictures in there, then go and find this place AGAIN, for an import with TDA
    • Create a folder, and then to go and find this place again as an import with the copy destination

No one who is attractive to me. Lightroom is IMO more useful when rationalizing away the boring stuff.

LR can make the file for YOU and drop the images into that, according to your instructions, while import.

"Let's say that my system was focused on the year at the top level, then the month, then records a day in this framework, each preceded the date in a format standard, so-called ' 2016 - 07 - 16. LR can run it for me immediately, as an automatic process of hands-free and without error. So if I want to, after import, I can add a descriptive text (customer, situation, whatever) on a given from LR folder name.

Otherwise I want can I have LR just go a standard parent folder and then type a name of subfolder custom in the dialog import (Destination Board) in order to meet the specific needs of this - if not automated - import with a copy. Type in certain keywords lot too, perhaps.

IOW: remember that an import preset to re - initialize the import settings and individualize then from there. But I prefer the former kind Setup that even if you do not individualize that is offered to all, always not something that auto-fichiers images in a useful and meaningful way. I do not customize folder names myself, so this just just there.

  • 5.7.1 Lightroom Import dialog box is not showing images from any folder

    wtf.jpg

It is under Windows 7 x 64.  Any folder I select shows up like the screenshot above.  There are records of my 7Dii CR2 files, jpg of my phone, other files jpg, movies, etc..  But it shows every single as file is empty.  Any ideas?  I don't remember making any changes at any time in the last days to settings. No idea what happened past.

Edit: the previously imported images appear in the fine catalog.

    Hi AccipiterQ,

Could you please first select the option to import and COPY on the left panel, expand the destination Panel and then switch back to the option Add and check if it helps.

  • Why does not create a folder lightroom? (why my photos are not import?)

Recently, I downloaded lightroom cc on my 2008 MacBook. My friend has this program and so I know the ins and outs on how to work everything. I tried to import a folder and pictures and files that my computer had created, but had not created a lightroom folder in the pictures folder under my user profile that hers is appeared in my folder of creative cloud had done. I then tried to send photos from various sources (e.g. directily to camera, sim card, folder, to the download folder, etc.) and the photos were not yet able to import. The first set of 10 photos appear instantly, now 2-5 photos that I keep trying to download from these different sources would never finish import. What is my problem here?

Thanks for the update. Look at where your Lightrooms catalog.

    • Go to Lightroom > catalog settings > General
    • Select Show

    In addition,

    • Reset the preferences of Lightroom
    • Your catalog backup and close Lightroom
    • Hold down Command + Option + shift keys when you start Lightroom and select Yes at the prompt to reset the preferences.
