  When you say that you have "written to you people ', I have to imagine say you you wrote to Apple.   Here, we have no way to help you find a lost phone.   It is a technical body of the user for the user.

  And of course, Apple cannot find lost phones.   They provide facilities for you to implement "Find my phone", but if you haven't taken advantage of this I'm afraid can't do anything.   I hope that you have reported to the police, especially if you have coverage with private insurance.

  Have you checked your download folder? Also you can put where you want to save a file to the desktop as, for example.   When you do a Reset (press and hold the Menu and Center buttons), going blank at the start before the Apple logo returns the screen to the iPod?  Or do you mean that the Apple logo is 'stuck' and it doesn't go away when you try of the reset?

  Is the "DFU mode" procedure for disc Mode.  Have a look here to confirm that this is what you have tried

  Have you tried to reinstall the hard drive if yes. Then the drive is bad & who has need of a replacement.

  If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disc replaced.

  If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  Update failed?

  Sorry, but the political forum do not allow any information for the recovery of passwords. This is necessary because of the anonymous nature of these forums.

  Your best solution is to take the computer to a local computer repair shop and ask them to retrieve the password for you. This usually takes a few minutes and the charge is minimal.
