  The recovery disks only works on exact material they were made for.

  Because you have installed a different motherboard, at microsoft a new motherboard = a new PC.

  OEM licenses are licenses that computers come with HP (and any other manufacturer).

  This means that they are good only for that specific PC and cannot be transferred to another PC or motherboard.

  Tried to import Mie... no luck. I tried "restore" using an old version date... no luck.

  Problems with bookmarks and history does not properly can be caused by a corrupted database places.sqlite file.

  You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

  I have a L300 which stops just to start (after that the screen flash BIOS) with a single cursor flashing when I boot from the HARD disk. I can access the bios Setup and boot from the CD. I took the HARD drive connected to my external USB adapter on another PC and I can see partitions C and D and read the files correctly. I noticed that there is a directory called 'HDD recovery' on the D drive, but I don't have a recovery CD or another program to restore it.

  I found a boot of Vista recovery disc and it allows me to start a version of vista recovery but when I check the windows system can't find any errors. Also, if I choose the system restore then he says that he has no restore file.

  Put 1 of all the recovery CD in the drive power on and press F9 repeatedly when you see the HP logo, and then select the reader of cd/dvd in the startup list, when it appears, it should start the PC from disk 1 and start the Recovery Manager.

  OK, try the steps below:

  1 - Login to your account

  2 - Win Key + R to open Run

  3 - Type services.msc and press enter

  4 - find "System Event Notification Service" and double-click it.

  5. now in front of Startup type , see it is set to Auto or select "Auto".

  6. now go to ' theRecovery tab' in front of 'first failure' 'set'restart the Serviceand verify that this is the same in Second Doctor too. Do not touch "subsequent failures."

  7 - click on "Ok" and reboot your PC.

• Problem with Audio and cannot restore. Error code 0 x 80070002.

  Have a Gateway FX 6860 under Windows 7 Home Premium.  Audio worked fine in the morning but in the afternoon (no updates being installed), I noticed that the sound speaker in the start bar had a red X.  Thought I had cut the sound, but the button mute on the keyboard had no effect (any more than the volume upward or down keys).  Roll the mouse on the icon gives "no speakers or headphones are connected.  Tried researching this issue after trying to restore the system (System Restore did not complete with each available computer restore point was [gave me every time the error code 80070002 x 0]).  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the device driver (no effect), I tried my repair disc (nothing), run a sfc/scannow (results indicate that there is no corrupted files).  I have connected my ipad for output wire to test the speakers (integrated in HP 2009 monitor) to check the wiring and speakers (they worked).  I ran the antivirus (AVASTI) software with no results.  Before that I have to empty everything and recover the system; is there anything else I could try?  Don't want to go through the entire re - install everything systematics for something simple.  What I forget?

  (a) click Start, type cmd, right-click cmd, and then click on run as administrator.

  (b) at the prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and press to enter.

  (c) try to do restore and check the result.

  I saw that error and even if it says access denied it will actually save your changes.  After you disable all move forward and apply then restart and see if it kept the changes.  If it's not then I hope that you are able to borrow a disc it would in time look for resettlement.   Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.  The first thing I would suggest running a virus scan.  Make sure you have no virus causing problems.  If you do not have an antivirus program, then you can download it free here: http://www.microsoft.com/Security_essentials/

  If there is no virus or it still does not work after virus cleaning, then start in safe mode and test from there.  Here are the instructions for Safe Mode.
