  • Windows Update problems - you must run Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later

Whenever I try to go to windows update I get this

Thank you for your interest to get updates of our site.

To use this site, you must run Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later.

To upgrade to the latest version of the browser, go to the website downloads of Internet Explorer.

If you prefer to use another web browser, you can get updates from the Microsoft Download Center , or you can stay up to date with the latest reviews and updates using automatic updates. To turn on automatic updates:

    1. Click Startand then click Control Panel.
    2. Depending on which control panel view you use, classic or category, do one of the following:
      • Click System, and then click the automatic updates tab.
      • Click performance and Maintenance, click System, and then click the automatic updates tab.
    3. Click the option you want. Make sure that automatic updates is not turned off.

am under explore 8 and it is updated. Is there any help out there for this? I'll be bald if I can't solve this problem quickly.

I will try to reinstall the Windows Update Agent Installer.  Here is a link to the Microsoft site that explains how to do this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104.

Go to the section How to get the last agent to update as it is already installed.  Scroll down to the section on the additional information tab called Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (I checked that it also works under Windows 7).   Choose one that fits your computer (x 86, x 64, Itanium).  Run this update and follow the instructions.  Windows Update will now be reinstalled, but it's a good idea to restart at this point.

I hope this will solve your problem.

  • "You must be logged in as an administrator to install this program" error when I AM logged on as administrator. possible problem with TrustedInstaller security

I am logged in as administrator on the single computer.  I try to install Net Nanny, which claims to be compatible Windows 7.
The first time I tried to install it I got the error, simply, 'access denied '.  After several attempts with the same error, I rebooted in Mode safe mode with network and then got the error that the Windows Installer Service is not accessible.  After some research, I discovered that Windows Installer is not available in safe mode.
So I booted in Normal mode.  Logged as administrator.  Tried to click with the right button on the installer downloaded for Net Nanny and ran as administrator, the connection of the administrator.  Now I get the error, "You must be logged in as administrator to install this program."  I am.
I closed all firewalls, anti-virus software AND turn off the UAC.  I checked the compatibility AND security for the download tab and it is configured to run as administrator and I tried to run in several modes of compatibility.  I still don't "You must be logged in as administrator to install this program."  No matter what I try, I still get this error.
I used the command prompt, type msiexec.exe / unregister, and then msiexec/regserver.  No new results.  Still the same error.

I called Net Nanny press SEVERAL times and they will know that this is a Windows problem, because this is the first time that they already got this error.  They had me to download another file on a mirror site.  Not always the same error.  People what I'm doing wrong?  I was able to successfully install other software.  Thanks for any help!

UPDATE * I am researching always this.  This would be a TrustedInstaller security problem?  If this is the case, is it possible to fix the TrustedInstaller or turn it off?  The big question, is that I want to turn it off?  My first thought is 'no '.  However, this software is listed on the Microsoft site as being compatible with Windows 7.  Therefore, an application that is 3rd party that is accepted by Microsoft.  Wow, I'm confused.  Don't know what to do here.

    Hello carpetfresh,

A test, I temporarily disable user account control and then see if you can install Net Nanny. If so, we know that UAC is what is causing the problem with the installation.

    1. access control panel user to the Start Menu-> Control Panel-> user accounts and of security for the family-> user account

    2. click on the settings of the user account controll link.

    3. move the slider to never notify

    4. click OK for the changes to take effect

    5 reset.

Once you have correctly installed the Net Nanny, then back to the control panel and reactivate the UAC.

Answer please come back and let us know.

  • problem with opening pdf file of the web browser

I have Acrobat Pro ver 6 and Adobe Reader 9.1 on a computer.  When my user tries to open a pdf file from the web as it gets the following error message:

"Adobe Acrobat/Reader that not running to view the PDF files in a WEb browser.  ADBE Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required.  Quit and try again. »

What also happens is that Acrobat Pro 6 worm opens and nothing is there.

I don't know why he received this message from Reader 9.1 is installed.

One can shed some light on this for me.

This user must have Acrobat and Reader on its system.  I understand that there are problems with having both.

It has also set up so that any PDF opens using Reader 9.1.

    Thank you

Configuration of your PC drive by default for embedded PDFs has become confused, because of multiple solutions of Adobe PDF documents installed on a PC.

    Solution 1:

    Go to start > run

Type regedit, and then click OK.

Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe

Make sure that the correct default data value is set to the path where are installed the Adobe Reader or Acrobat.

    The default installation values are:

    "C:\Program 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe Adobe.

    or

"C:\Program Files\adobe\acrobat 6.0\acrobat\Acrobat.exe" (not sure of this path.  Make sure that on your PC)

If Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat is installed.

    Solution 2:

Configure the browser to use Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application.

If you use Firefox to browse the web, you can change this setting in Firefox by clicking on:

    Tools > Options

    Click on the "Applications" tab

The first item in the list should be "Adobe Acrobat Document".  In the Action list, click the drop-down arrow and select the application you want to read a PDF file in the web browser.  Click OK and you should be done.

If you use Internet Explorer to view a PDF file, try the steps below.

After you configure Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application, the browser starts the helper application in a separate window and displays PDF files within this window. Acrobat and Adobe Reader both include a preference that allows you to specify the Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application.

To configure Acrobat or Adobe Reader as a helper application:
    Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
    Choose Edition > Preferences.
    Select Internet on the left.
Deselect Display PDF in browser using [Acrobat application], and then click OK.
    Quit Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
The next time you select a link to a PDF file in the browser, a dialog box asking what you want to do with the file. If you select open, the browser opens the PDF file in Acrobat or Adobe Reader (request for assistance); If you select save it on the disk, the browser saves the PDF file on your hard drive.

  • How to add annotations when you view a PDF in a web browser?

I have a link to a pdf file that opens in a web browser that I'm unable to annotate. I downloaded the latest version of Adobe (as of April 25, 2014) and I use a Mac and Safari. Specifically, there is no "comments and markup" option tab tools and annotation options are eliminated under the tab comment below I have included screen shots. Your help is greatly appreciated!

    s.jpgl.jpg

You do not use the application. You use a browser add-on that takes advantage of some of the features of the application, but not all.

In order to use full functionality of the application defines simply save the PDF (s) on the HARD disk of the local computer and then opens with Acrobat (any version provides the tools to comment & Markup) OR Adobe Reader XI (the first version of reader to provide the tools to comment & markup same found in Acrobat).

  • You must at least IE 5 or higher to use this site!

I have a problem on the two Machines of Dell Optiplex. The two are running with XP SP3.

Both automatically downloaded and installed today updates (11 in total I think) and then asked to reset. After the restart, I tried manually to do another update to see if there were no critical / security updates available. However, on both machines, that I can't have Windows update to work.

Web page hangs for centuries, then finally comes up with a message that says something like ' thank you try to use this facility, however you need to Internet Explorer Version 5 to use, if you use another browser go to the page to download, or you upgrade Internet Explorer to a newer version. However, I already use IE 8 and have been for some time, even if I go to the update of THE website it detects, that I have already installed.

I tried to disable my AV (McAfee VSE 8.7) but that made no difference.

One of the ideas what is happening here? Everything was fine before the updates today!

    Thank you

I don't care. Somehow, it seems to have resolved itself.

The PC has left throughout last night and now they work as you would expect.

  • Need help with security when AS3 running inside the browser

    Hello

I'm relatively new to flash, but a fairly skilled programmer.

I've created a game that works perfectly and communicates with a WinSock server on port 4000 to publish his final to score. With the help of simple XMLSocket and Send.

When I start the game in the stand-alone flash player everything works perfectly as it should

However, when I embed in an HTML page or similar this is wrong. The game works fine, but the final display on the WinSock socket server fails. I got the error message.

ioErrorHandler: [SecurityErrorEvent type = "securityError" bubbles = false cancelable = false eventPhase = 2 text = "Error #2048"]

My server is a local server run me IIS 6. Everything works very well by the stand-alone flash player, so I know that the ports are clear and firewalls is not the problem.

Searching around google and forums I discovered in 9,0,124,0 (flash I'm short) that they brought security enhancements, namely you must validate a cross-domain file.

My file is sitting in the wwwroot in my Web server where my flash swf is hosted and looks like

    < cross-domain-policy >
    < allow-access-from domain = "" * "safe ="false"/ >"
    < / cross-domain-policy >

I also tried adding to article 1 of the swf file

    Security.loadPolicyFile (" http://mydomainname.com/crossdomain.xml");

I tried all the bottlenecks, but I can't get the flash to communicate with the server socket when it inside a web browser.

If I run it in the stand-alone player, everything works perfectly.

Can someone help me please. I've been googling and ripping my hair out for centuries. It's the last step in my project and I failed the final step.

    Just to add.

My server and the test computer are on the same domain, the web server is a win2003 server and my tests and server coding is a XP machine running IE7. They are connected by a router ADSL, sharing the same external IP address, but rather through the DHCP addressing. Everything works fine for winsocket port port forwarding.

Just for emphasis, I think that this configuration is correct, because everything works fine when I run in the flash player.

    Thank you very much

    I fixed it later.

In version 9.0.124.0 flash they force now you have a server running on port 843 XML socket server somewhere if you want to use XMLSocket in a browser.

Nothing to do with the domain or crossdomain.xml files.

    You must also call

Security.loadPolicyFile ("xmlsocket://x.x.x.x:843") before opening the socket.

to load into the XML file that defines what is allowed.

Google search for AS3 and socket server port 843 and you will find examples and even a simple Java based server to use.
