Format paragraph import woes...

I may be a little rusty (nearly three years of strength of MS Wording, yuck) and a beginner with FM 9, so this can be quite my own stupidity, but:

I have implemented a model document with paragraph styles, templates, etc. When I import the styles in other documents, I noticed that my topic paragraphs lose their automatic dialing properties (the box is unchecked, deleted from building blocks) as well as predefined settings tab. Paragraph font properties and master pages in contrast to import correctly.

I tried to work around this problem, many shots, for example copying text into the document model, erasing all formats before import, removing any formatting of the text prior to import... Even when I paste the text in the model formats change suddenly no (obvious) reason. I need to focus on the translation and don't have time to track down the gremlins - someone out there with a clue formatting?

Is your version of 9 fully patched?

    Click on the button create poll on the surveys page, then select the option to create a survey from a text file. An example of the required format is displayed. It is not a CSV format.

  • Best format to import an image map

    Hi all

    I also create a module of branching.  The main menu image should be clickable, each subject on the image will take the user to another slide.  What is the best format to import this image into Captivate 8?  I tried a .jpg, .gif, .png and .pptx.  The words on the slide will look blurry when I tried these formats. Is there another way to put this image in Captivate, so that I can format each of the topics in the menu to direct the user to the different slides?

    Thank you

    Helena

    The idea is to create the image to be exact of the resolution, you will need it to be, unless you are able to create the image as an SVG reagent (Captivate only in 9, excluded since you're still on CP8). Avoid the scaling, don't use scalable output. I would even recommend having different clickable parts as separate images that can be used as fill in a form with exactly the same resolution (pixel size) button.

    If you need transparency in the image, the only choice is PNG. GIF supports full transparency as well but is limited to 256 colors. JPEG quality can be very different, you do not say what quality you used. PPTX is not an image format, I do not know why you include it at all.

    You talk about 'text', why not insert text in Captivate instead of turning it into an image?

  • 'Jump' in Format of import do not skip a few lines

    We currently use FDM 11.1.1.1.00 and we have a problem with jumping lines based on currency (which is our AccountDescription).

    We first retrieve 28392 lines of Oracle EBS (27921 CAD and USD 471). No mather what we put in the condition to jump, the generated .dat contains exactly the same data (file compared with UltraEdit).

    If we set our import format to skip lines USD, 11 of them are still imported. This is the same behavior, if we set the import format to skip lines CAD (1136 of them are always imported).

    For example, this line still load
    2021; 1115562; 50308; E; 0 06 806050 0000; 55365; 001; 0000; USD; P02-13; A ; ; 2013; 3.06; 22.08;-19.02
    While it doesn't
    2021; 4368; 50308; L; 101, 000000, 0000; 21350; 001, 0000. USD; P02-13; A ; ; 2013 2400000; 17100000 ;-14700000
    (Skip is on field 36 (USD))

    I saw some lines still loaded in hexadecimal to find any character invisble or differences in codes used to display characters, but they are the same as the lines that are ignored.

    Three people have been looking for the data model that could lead us to the problem without success.

    Any ideas on why these lines are always imported? Where should I see?

    It is perhaps easy to solve, but I am new to this sort of thing (I actually had to learn FDM by myself, like all technical directors knowing that he has left the company).

    Thank you.

  • What is the best audio format to import a CD?

    Dear people of the communities,

    What is the best format in terms of better sound quality for an import CD, regardless of the size of the file, just a pure sound quality?

    The goal is to save my music library CD and vinyl in a computer/drive and listening using a computer connected to a sound system 'Stereo' (not ' Surround', regular stereo) with speakers high quality stereo (L + R).

    So far, I've downloaded using a 320 kbps MP3 format. Listening to a CD quality is very poor.

    I use iTunes 10.7.x (as well as iTunes 12.x on a newer platform, but imports of CD I use version 10.7)

    All parameters are the following:

    Import using MP3 encoder =

    Parameters = custom

    Use the Error Correction = No.

    ---------------------------------------------

    Stereo BitRate = 320 Kbps

    VBR = No

    = 44,100 kHz sampling rate

    Channels = stereo

    Stereo mode = Normal

    Smart encoding = No

    Filter Freq below 10 Hz = No

    I think he wouldn't be WAV course, AIFF and Apple Lossless I know are both better quality, but using an Apple encoder can restrict what will be the player who is also important.

    Thank you

    Alon

    .

    Any lossless format will offer the best audio quality.  The available choices:

    • WAV is probably the most widely supported but it lacks the ability to incorporate metadata or illustrations, so while you can move the audio between different systems files as soon as you go outside iTunes you will lose all the artist / album / song information.
    • Apple Lossless (ALAC) is definitely the best choice in iTunes - he has the same metadata / support work such as MP3 or AAC and supports full 16/44.1 audio with file sizes about 65% of the equivalent WAV file
    • AIFF is very similar to the ALAC, except that (in the Variant used by iTunes), there is no lossless compression, so the file size will be larger

    The determining factor here will be where you intend to use the files - many other readers take in charge of the three options mentioned above, either natively or (for the ALAC and AIFF) using the appropriate plugins.  Unfortunately the lossless codec which has the broad support of all (FLAC) is not supported by iTunes.  There are, however, many utilities out there that can convert between ALAC and FLAC (and vice versa) if that proves necessary.

  • What is the best format to import to an indesign book files

    I am reproducing a family cookbook and will place small blows to head to their family members or their children next to the recipe.  I intend to scan and import about 150 pages of the ancient book of recipes and use the pages but will place photos, adjacent to the recipe.

    I tried this with indesign cs3 import pages as PDF and ran into memory important problems and have now upgraded to cs6 but would make good sense for the first time.

    So bottom line: if import a large number of scanned documents is it better to analyze as JPEG or PDF files or is there a better way.

    You have Acrobat Pro? If so, I'd run all these pages however scanned OCR and conversion of text before placing them.

    But I wonder what you are doing that you are out of memory because placed images (as opposed to glued or placed and nested) must use only enough space for the pointer on the image and a preview of the screen. What resolution did you use to scan pages? What color mode? Which was exactly the memory problem you experience?

    Regarding the image format, you should see the same size of file that you use tif, jpeg, PDF or psd to your images if all other factors are the same.

  • Find the text and apply the format paragraph tag in Framemaker 11

    Help!

    I am trying to automate the search text in a file FM11 and CE marking with a specific paragraph tag. Once it is, I want to be able to search for the same string again and delete it. The research will include wildcard characters. I'm moving Word files on and bring with manual numbering of paragraphs. Thus, when they arrive, they "2.3.4.5" before paragraphs for example. I want to search all of the numbers at the beginning of paragraphs, tag all those with the appropriate para format (starting a catalog) and then remove the manual numbering.

    At this time do us it manually, using find/replace and by using wildcard search strings to find (such as '\P[1-9]*.*.*.*[0-9]', which will find all the para numbering at the beginning of a paragraph 4-digit), then using the change option to paste to paste in a paragraph of the catalog tag. Then we repeat the same search and delete the text, leaving only the tag para to the number format. It works very well, but errors can occur if the search string in set incorrectly or if the numbers are not deleted (in this case, it is found on the next search and re-labeled incorrectly). For example

    I work for the Air Force collection of entries from the field and creating publications out of them, so there is no mobile profit here, just trying to be efficient. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Brian,.

    I guess right here because I've never done this before, but... In my view, there is definitely something wrong with your mission to find the property values. The way you wrote, you are trying to assign two properties to a single table space. That's why you need to remove these two lines to make him find work, because they are replacing the FindText property apparently. Here is my proposal for how it should be:

    findParams = AllocatePropVals (2);

    findParams [0].propIdent.num = Constants.FS_FindText;

    findParams [0].propVal.valType = Constants.FT_String;

    findParams [0].propVal.sval = searchString.

    findParams [1].propIdent.num = Constants.FS_FindCustomizationFlags;

    findParams [1].propVal.valType = Constants.FT_Integer;

    findParams [1].propVal.ival = Constants.FF_FIND_USE_WILDCARDS;

    In any case, let me point out again once it is a hypothesis and I did not test this. I am sure, however, that the solution is somewhere along this path.

  • Formatting paragraphs

    6.3.4 in Adobe CS2, is there an easy way to

    the text of paragraph format so that it looks like this?

    6.3.5 currently I use just some carriage returns and tabs

    to get the alignment I want but, along

    passages in the text which is obviously quite

    tedious. There must be a better way.

    6.3.6 any help appreciated.

    Eeek! Hard back, tabs...

    1 insert one tab after the number, and then insert a code for withdrawal up to this point (default key is Ctrl/Cmd + \--C'est also in your context menu to click right friendly district, under "Insert special character"). The following texts will be indented on this position until the end of the paragraph.

    2. better: since (apparently) the distance of withdrawal is the same from one paragraph to another, in your Style Options of paragraph under "Dashes and a space", the value of the withdrawal left the amount you need. Then set "Withdrawal of first line" to the negative value. It does exactly what is expected: the text indented an amount, negative, so again flush against the left margin indented the first line.

    3. that is not using paragraph Styles? (Well, you should). Select the paragraphs, and then set the amount of withdrawal in the paragraph Panel. Be sure to set the "Withdrawal left" value first, then negative "withdrawal of first line." (Just try the other way if you're wondering why.)

    Hi, Paul:

    Paragraph, character and table format definitions are stored in each file.

    To remove the paragraph or character format catalog formats, open the catalog with the Format > paragraphs > catalogue or Format > characters > catalog, click Delete * to open the Delete dialog box, select a format by clicking on a name visible format, by navigating through the list with the arrow keys, or by typing the first letter of the name of the shape. Repeatedly typing the same initials moves in formats that start with that letter. Click on delete to 'name' the format selected for deletion. You cannot select multiple formats in the list shift + click or Ctrl + click. Click Finish to perform the actual deletion, or Cancel if you change your mind.

    Another way to open the delete format dialog box is by clicking on the delete option that appears by clicking the commands button in the paragraph, character and Table designers.

    To make sure that you do not lose the formats that you can use at another time, save a copy of the file with a descriptive name, such as "AllFormatsInTheKnownUniverse.fm." You can remove all content to do the cleaning in the file, without losing the formats. You can import a file formats to another, or a file to multiple files in a book. Google search for "framemaker import formats" without quotation marks for more information on the Adobe, using FrameMaker forums and other sources.

    * Please note that by pressing DEL to open the dialog box delete does not delete the format selected in the catalog.

    A way to eliminate all formats not used of a catalog is to use the file > utilities > create and apply Formats. WARNING: it is dangerous; Read up on it in help, and then save a copy of your file before using. You will find names of unknown format in the catalog that it creates, such as mapping Table Title and a few others; they have points of master and reference Pages.

    Better and safer that create and apply Formats are great inexpensive tools for the maintenance of the catalogues of paragraph and character of siliconprairiesoftware.com format.

    The table format catalog is visible in the table designer (Table > table designer.)
