Formatting a hard drive in win 8, will be the work disk XP TSF

My XP computer crashed, damage the hard drive. I had to re format in WINDOWS 8. Tried to install XPsp3 on cd, but failed (error code 4).

Down loaded win xpsp2 file (3.5 "disks) and tried, but failed disk 3 (file setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 4.

Can someone help me please?

There is no need to format a disk before installing Windows.  Put in the form, if necessary, is done as part of the installation process.

When you've had the disk in the external case, have you tested using a chkdsk /R (a Windows tool) or the manufacturer of the utility test drive?  If this is not the case, do.

Setup error 4 and setupdd.sys failure suggest that your computer has had more damage than just the power connector: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330181?wa=wsignin1.0

  • Formatting your hard drive.

When you format your hard drive, come from programs that were originally on the computer?

    Hello:

When you format your hard drive, you erase all content including the operating system. Basically, you have a blank disc.

If you are referring to a system recovery, then Yes, the original operating system and programs are restored in your PC as the day you brought it home.

Be sure to back up all the files that you want to keep and have all discs/files installation progam for the programs that you have installed since that date, that you want to reinstall once you run the recovery process or use the recovery disks.

A recovery will scan all these things.

    Gaara_2k6,
Welcome to the responses of the Forums.  The short answer to your questions are Yes and no and no.

Depends on how you format the drive, it will delete everything on the drive.  Now, it may still be recoverable with a software specialist or moving to a data recovery company.

If you formatted your hard drive you would not be able to start to do anything, because there would be nothing on the startup disk.  With the Windows XP CD or with the recovery media provided by the manufacturer of the PC is the only way to reinstall Windows. • Install Windows 8 automatically formats the hard drive? If this isn't the case, I should format it FAT or NTFS drive before installing Win/8?

Install Windows 8 automatically formats the hard drive?  If this isn't the case, I should format it FAT or NTFS drive before installing Win/8?

No, this isn't format the hard drive, what's done is put your existing version of Windows in a folder called "windows.old", it indeed erases old files of version and folders, leaving free space on the existing partition "NTFS" (formerly ocupied by your previous version of windows) in which is installed Windows 8.

And "NTFS" is the only file system that supports Windows 8.

  • How to format a hard drive with a production system of crude fat ranking system 32

Try to format a hard drive in fat32.  Windows says it cannot format drive is gross, ranking system.

If the drive is larger than 32 GB, Windows XP does not let you format using FAT32 (there is a debate on the question of whether you can use the formatting command line tool, but given that it will take much time to format a large drive, you probably don't want to try it; Microsoft actually meant that you can't format a large FAT32 drive during the installation of Windows).

Keep in mind that a partition formatted in FAT32 has a maximum file size of 4 GB.

Microsoft recommends using a Win 98 boot disk (if your machine actually has a floppy drive).  Or you can download fat32format and use it.

Plan to just drag my photo library on (it is huge - over 400 GB). Maybe create a new library of pictures, too, but store them all on the EXT HD.

It must be partitioned and formatted for use on your Mac:

    1. Open utility disk from the Applications\utilitaires folder.
    2. After loading disk utility, select the external hard drive (entrance Out-bumpy with of the mfgr.) ID and size) in the list to one side. Click the utility tab Partition or delete in the toolbar of disc. Adjustable circular diagram to set the number of partitions if you want more than one.

  • Can I format HARD drive and reinstall Windows 7 on the Qosmio F60 without CD

I think my hard drive is faulty on my F60 Quosmio so I want to reformat the hard drive to see if that will fix it. But I don't have the original packaging and the information with me at the moment so I don't know if it came with a windows 7 CD or not. Whatever it is, I don't have the CD.

I found on the net that most manufacturer who deliver without CD include a "recovery partition" or "factory image partition" which you can access during startup. Anyone know if the F60 Quosmio comes with a CD or if she has this recovery partition or partition image factory? Or do you know if there is a way I can check if my computer is it?

If you have more information about the formatting of the hard drive and reinstall windows 7 without the CD please let me know.

    Thank you.

The laptop came with a Windows disc, because there is a Toshiba recovery disc Creator called tool which create the recovery disk.

The recovery partition was available and it allows you to recover the laptop without the use of the recovery disk, but it does not work if the HARD drive has failed.

How to format my hard drive as my operating system running IM? I tried many ways must my computer tells me I have to stop all programs that I have running. play help as soon as possible!

Some PC contains a hidden hard disk restore partition. If yours is one of them, this is how you return your PC to its original state.

What is the brand and model of your PC?

Yet, this is a pretty drastic step. There is more easy and faster to improve performance. If you do not want to give it a shot, let us know. And also tell us the specifications of your PC, type of XP, SP, etc.

Also, you might find follows her beneficial:

Here are the usual causes of slow:

    1. malware (malware). You need to rule out first! This page has excellent information:

    http://Web.archive.org/Web/20080610163247/http :// www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    2. some programs aimed at combating malware (for example, Norton and McAfee). Ironically, they can slow things down because they use simply much too many resources. Sometimes they cause conflicts with other programs. And their default mode is to scan your entire hard drive whenever you start. Fortunately, there are other programs of anti-malware software available that use much less resources (p. ex., NOD32, Avast and Avira).

    3. too much of certain types of programs still running in background - with or without your consent. (Then again, a lot of programs running in the background of the consequences trivial.)

To determine each program and process, you are running, use the task (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) Manager and click the processes tab. You should be able to sort by CPU usage or memory usage for a good ideas that are resource/memory hogs. You must write the names of all the processes for future detective work (or take a snapshot and print it).

Use these sites to determine what these programs are, and learn how configure them to not always run when starting:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/
    http://www.AnswersThatWork.com/Tasklist_pages/Tasklist.htm

Sometimes, it is recommended to use msconfig to configure programs to run at startup. A better, more thorough program is Autoruns:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

But before that, you must use the settings preference of the program in question. Otherwise, for some programs, they will return to the list of startup anyway!

If you do not want to use msconfig, it can be accessed in this way:

Start | Run | Type "msconfig" (without the quotes). Enter (or OK)

    4. not enough RAM, causing the PC too rely on the pagefile. A quick way to determine if what is happening is to open (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) Task Manager, and then click the performance tab. Then the three values under Commit Charge (k) Note: in the lower left corner: Total, limit and peak.

The Total number represents the amount of memory you are using right now. The vertex figure represents the maximum amount of memory you made since the last boot. If these figures are lower than the value of the amount of physical memory (K), then you probably have lots of RAM. In case you want to study it more, you can run the Page queue Monitor for Windows XP:

How to format a hard drive when you're locked volume popups?

Looks like you are trying to format the disk that contains the system volume of in WinXP.  You can not.  It would be the computer equivalent of sawing off the branch of the tree, you sit and WinXP is "too smart" to enable this.

After saving all the data you want to transfer to the new installation of the OS, simply boot from the Windows XP installation CD.  You will be offered the possibility to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the installation process. (You may need to rearrange the order of the boot devices in the PC BIOS to boot from the CD.)

MY COMPUTER HAS INSTALLED VISTA AND I WANT TO FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE AND RETURN TO WINDOWS WP

BACK is not involved in any part of this situation. You don't want to format a drive to be used with XP with BACK; you would format the drive within the XP installation routine instead.

General information about replacing Vista with XP:

    A. on a computer OEM (HP, Sony, etc.):

    1. go to the OEM Web site and find the XP drivers for your specific model computer. If there is no XP drivers, you can not install XP. End of the story. If there are drivers, download them and store them on a CD - R or USB thumbdrive. you will need after installing XP.

    2. check with the OEM - either since their technical support site, either as - to see if you will cancel your warranty if you do this. If void you your warranty, you make the decision.

    3. If the OEM supports XP on the machine, call them and see if you can qualify to demotion and ask them to send you a XP restore disc. This is by far the easiest and best way to put XP on the machine.

    4. if XP is supported on the machine but OEM does not have a disk to restore XP for you, understand that you will need to buy a copy of XP to your favorite online or brick/mortar store retail.

    5. also understand that you will need to do a fresh install of XP, so if you have any data you want back first.

    6. If none of the above applies to you because you can't run XP which return (see point 1 above), the computer of the machine and buy a running XP instead.

    B. on a generic/home computer built (of the non - OEM company)-you will need the drivers for all your hardware. See the second link below for more details:

You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.
