  • Format hard disk and it set up to be a backup for C hard drive

I use 2 hard drives on my computer. The main C drive is in use, but I partially install Vista on drive D. I would like to format the D drive (I'm the system administrator) so that I can use this as my backup copy. At the present time I cannot format the D drive and impossible to configure drive D so that it is on the list of drive C backup options.

    Hello

Why you cannot format the D drive - what error message do you receive? Have you tried to start the re - install Vista again, but when you get to choose which drive you want to install vista, by selecting the options of the drive and format the drive from here and then cancel the installation? See this link from my Web site: http://www.winuser.co.uk/windows_vista_faq/32_install_windows_vista.html on the installation of Windows Vista. What I mean is to step 14. Click "Drive Options" to display the format option.

Otherwise, you are probably able to format the drive using third party disk/partition management software. Many users use Easeus (http://www.partition-tool.com/ ) because it is free. I can't personally guarantee the software because I've never used. • DVD cannot install on Mac to format hard disk [using a case-sensitive file system]

This morning I received my DVD with Lightroom 6 Win/Mac. I have inserted in my drive superdrive. But: Installation on my MacBookPro was denied, reason: my hard drive format is supported by the use of small and capital letters - which is the way normal for MacOs and necessary for backup with TimeMachine. What is the use of a Mac-DVD which can not be installed on a Mac? Something must be wrong here. Would be very grateful for help.

'Standard' OS X file system is not case sensitive. Although you can use upper and lowercase in a filename to the extent where the system is concerned 'Filename' and 'filename' are the same. So if you try to copy files with the same name regardless of the case so the copy will result in a dialog box asking if you want to replace a file of the same name.

I guess in your case, your disks have been formatted with case-sensitive file system, and you should generally refrain from using a file system case-insensitive with OS X.

  • Deleting files from the HARD disk without confirmation?

My catalog has thousands of duplicates.  I began to remove them by opening each folder & select 1 or more and do a right click to remove.  Whenever I do this I wonder if I want to remove the HARD drive as well and I always say Yes.  Is it possible to remove the step that requires the conformation?

    I don't think so.

But what you can do instead to delete each file individually: you can try to assign a keyword such as 'tobedeleted' to the selected files. You can assign the keyword for multiple files highlighted on your screen, browse another page and so on. When you're done, you select all files with that keyword and delete all at the same time with a single click to ' also delete disk.

    Option 1:

Download the. ISO file on a work computer such as who you are now and:

a: burn it to a blank DVD and install from it using your DVD player, if his work

b: or create a USB bootable with the installation files, see the instructions below.

Is it possible to download windows on a USB key and plug it into the other computer?

    Yes, you can.

Also, when I have the new windows can I use Microsoft Word on the old broken hard drive? I still have the DVD and the code that came with it!

    Yes, you can.

Once you have the .iso file, they may want to use the Microsoft .iso to USB/DVD tool to create a DVD or bootable USB (requires a blank DVD or USB flash to at least 4 GB key).

    Thank you

  • Drive problem hard "smart hard disk error".

Hello, about 6 months ago, I bought my HP envy m6-1252so, and since then it has been slow til to get totally stuck showing the "blue screen" error message, a month later, I turned on and showed me the message "no device found", then I went where I bought it and they said it was a software problem. That's why the guarantee would not fix because it takes that hardware problems (I have 3 years warranty). A friend, who is a maintenance-pc professional told me that the hard drive has problems and he screwed up, he has absolutely everything deleted hard disk ensuring that it would be totally free from virus and he reinstalled windows saying that I'm having the same problem soon, I had since re - install windows all almost 2 weeks because that the problem won't let me run windows showing me the message "error of. smart disc"and it could not connect to windows. My question is how could get my replacement of hard disk without having the same answer "it's a software problem?

    Sincerely, Milton.

    Milton,

The "SMART Hard Disc Error' returned by your computer indicates that the hard disk has failed or is about to fail. Please see test of hardware failures (Windows 8) and/or test a hard drive in the BIOS for instructions on testing your computer for a hard disk failure. If the error codes are returned or a test does not complete, please contact the official HP support in your region / country, via the Portal to support HP worldwide, to file a warranty claim.

You will need to use the HP recovery media, you created when you first set up your computer to restore the computer to a factory state after the hard drive has been replaced. If you create your personal HP recovery media, also contact HP support in your region / country, to see if the HP recovery support is available for your computer.

  • Run a virtual hard disk file in Virtual PC

    Hello

I recently got a Windows 7 PC to replace a Windows XP machine. However, while I still have access to anything whatsoever on the old PC that I maybe need even once, I did a .vhd on the old hard drive file.

I can't open this vhd file, because I can't find a way to create a new virtual PC with which use this virtual hard disk.

    Is anyway to do this?

    Thank you
    Richard

Windows 7 can read files in VHD(Virtual Hard Disk) without VPC (Virtual PC).  You can make the VHD file be seen as a hard drive on the new PC. Here's how to do it.

    Attach the VHD file:
    1. right click on 'My Computer' and click on 'manage '.
    2. go in "Disk management" under "Storage" on the left side.
    3. click on the 'Action' menu on the top and click on "attach VHD.
4 locate the hard drive file virtual you want to open, you can also make the drive read only just in case you accidentally change something.  Then click on 'OK '.
    5. you should see your virtual hard drive in "My Computer"
    Detach the VHD file:
    1. go in disk management as described in steps 1 and 2 as I explained earlier.
    2. on the bottom half of the window, find the hard drive virtual you want to detach.
3 click on the "disk #" and click on "remove VHD.
Good luck. God bless you. :)

  • The user of the 21 Tap hard disk is replaceable?

Anyone know if the hard drive in the Tap 21 replaceable by the user?

I see 21 Tap has been released and he is seriously considering.  But I can't tell by images or any document, if the hard drive is replaceable by the user or not. Actually in the pictures I see even any way that a user would open a part any Tap 21 at all.

I would be VERY hesitant to buy a PC with a hard disk without the possibility to replace that hard drive myself if it is crushed or upgrading to a bigger in the future. To send a PC into a service center for several days for an easily manipulated hard drive failure or upgrade would be extremely boring, to say the least.

I know that it was possible within 20 Tap, and it's obvious from the pictures of 20 as part of the back can be removed.  But the tap of 21 is a completely smooth piece, so there is no obvious way to get hard disk that I see.

    Thank you.

    Thanks NickT.

I was hoping that wasn't the case, as the Tap 21 fits my needs very well.  I now just have to decide if it's a deal breaker for me, or outweighs the fact that it fits my needs so well that negative.

I'll take some time to meditate... while I'm waiting for some clients out.  Then I hope one or several exams will help me make my decision.

  • Satellite Pro A40: Is it possible to format the HARD drive without disk

I am passing on a Satellite Pro A40 to a brother. It is in very good condition, but has slowed down over the years. I want to get rid of my data (I have on a new machine) and speed up the system by formatting the hard drive.

The machine didn't come with a disc for Windows XP, or a recovery CD (just a CD "tools and utilities"). I'm sure the drive HARD will be partitioned, and I can format the drive without such a disc.

If this is true, how should I do?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I can't believe that you do not have recovery media.
The laptop must be supplied with recovery CD, Tools & Utilities CD, and WinDVD.

    But back to your question;
If you insert a new HARD disk, you will need to use the Toshiba Recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows to install the operating system.
The new drive is not partitioned HARD and doesn't have any OS pre-installed!

If you n t have the original CD of Microsoft OS you can contact the service provider allowed in your country and you can order it.

    I hope I could help

    Good bye

  • Reinstall Win XP without reformatting the hard disk

    Hello

Is it possible to reinstall Win XP on my Equium A60 without having to reformat the HD? The HD currently has only one partition.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hello Mike

Unfortunately, it is not possible. If you use the whole HARD disk recovery disk will be formatted until the installation begins. If you want to preinstall unit with recovery disk to save all your data on external media such as external HARD drive or burn them on CD or DVD.

If you wish, you can create two partitions using the installation in expert mode.
