For an anti-virus program, I recommend eSet NOD32, if you're ready
to pay for it. If you want a free anti-virus, I recommend one (are not
run several) of the following three:

    Avira AntiVir
    Avast
    Microsoft Security Essentials

You also need anti-spyware software. I recommend that you download and
    install MalwareBytes AntiMalware (freeware).

  • I can't connect to the internet via my host after uninstalled antivirus software and restart

I can't connect to the internet via my host after uninstalled antivirus software and restart it.

I use windows xp on my host computer and all computers in my client. After that I uninstalled the free trial NIS version and restart my host, I lost the internet connection. Tried to restore with the restoration of the system, but when I restarted it, it said the system restore could not be made. I changed it then with my laptop and I can connect to the internet as the host.

    Hello

This can happen if the uninstall process fails and leaves behind a Symantec registry value. See the following Symantec article.

Unable to connect to the Internet after uninstalling Norton AntiVirus.

    http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/NAV.nsf/8d071816eedd7cac88256c0e005a96e5/751c3298ab99cf7188256d34006702e2?OpenDocument

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. I recently uninstalled avast free antivirus, I installed avg free instead. Whenever I start my pc, I get a pop up window that says... This application has failed to start because ashbase.dll not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. And after I close this pop-up window I get a second pop up window that says Avast Anti-virus has stopped working properly. It has been deleted from my computer, but it still appears on the startup items and it will not let me delete them. I use windows vista family premium on a pc hp Pavilion slimline is only 2 years old. I did a system restore to its original factory setting because I had other problems, System Restore fixed the other problems and now this.

Personally, I think you're better off with Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials on AVG, but try to run this tool to get rid of all traces of Avast.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Not a big fan of McAfee or Kaspersky.

Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all the free Versions that are very effective).

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leaving Standard, Web, and
    Operation of the network.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 5.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 5.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • Windows did not find antivirus software on this computer

Installed WindowsDefender and Action Center said "windows did not find antivirus software on this computer.

It is to be expected.  Windows Defender is an anti-malware program that is designed to protect you against spy-ware, and ad-ware only.  However, there is no capacity for the anti-viral.  You should always install an antivirus application any.

There are several free antiviruss protection applications.  And here are two:

  • No longer connect to the internet after you uninstall antivirus software

    Hello

Please forgive me if there is a simple solution to this problem. I have already undertaken some research and various attempts to correct them accordingly in vain.

    System: Windows 7 64-bit

Problem - no more have the internet connection after you uninstall antivirus software

the story so far: yesterday I uninstalled VIPRE Internet Security 2014 as suggested on their guys to support online so I could upgrade to the latest version (2015).

After uninstalling and restarting, small notification of connection there was an error in this regard. When you look at the map, it linked the wireless modem, but there was a red cross between it and the symbol of the world of the internet.

I tried another public network and tried to use my phone as a hotspot and still the same result.

    System Restore does not work.

    I defragged and cleaned up.

I downloaded a program called Vipre rescue to find the virus.

I tried with windows on and outside firewall.

I installed a full copy of 2015 AVG (free) and still no luck.

I tried a flush.bat file (easily on another where I read that someone had the same problem).

Any help would be most welcome!

Thanks for getting back to me.

I dropped last week and held a store of the local computer. I just returned it today. Guys said they had 'fun' with her. Which means it took a lot of time for them to trouble. Apparently there had been some severe or ciritcal crashes who think could have been partly to blame.

  • Which free antivirus for vista 64-bit?

    Hello

I run my 32-bit vista & McAfee for more than 18 months.

I intend to do a clean install of vista 64-bit and would be very grateful for advice on viral protection.

First option: continue with the paid version of McAfee & I wonder if that supports 64-bit?

    OR

Option two: choose a free antivirus protection software that is available for VISTA 64-bit. If possible can direct me in the sense for me to download an installer on a cd, so that I can install that after my own install of the 64 bit OS before connect me with fully protected internet.

    Thanking you.

Try 8 AVG or Avast. I have both running on a different version of X 64. X 64 Visat avast and AVG 8 on win 7 X 64 are very well-known and respected.
