  If you have the XP Freecell files anywhere (old computer with XP, XP disk), just the copy in a new folder on your hard drive (not in a system folder where they were originally, to avoid conflicts with the more recent version), create a shortcut to "freecell.exe" and play. If you do not need the help files, the only files to copy are 'freecell.exe' and "cards.dll" (located in the \Windows\System32 on your XP source folder).

  To install an any virtual system only to play this game of Li ' l, is a bit of overkill.

  OK, finally solved.
