Freeze statement signal tv Windows Media Center
I have a recurring problem.
I'm trying to update my channels of TV tuner in Windows Media Center.
I use a Philips SAA7130, Hybrid Capture Device and I use Windows 7 Ultimate.
Since I moved to Windows 7 since VISTA, whenever I go to Windows Media Center and try to update my TV channels, once it gets past enterting my Zip Code for the United Kingdom and download the guide ok, it then goes to "Examing of TV signal" and then the computer hangs.
Recovery only I have is in power turned off/turned on the PC to recover.
I tried various solutions on the web to work around this problem, but none of them work.
It's more frustrating that the program crashes.
I tried this device to update with a new driver found on the list of drivers Windows 7, as I can't find a reliable one on the Web.
I've updated 6.0.1.3 as dated: 05/08/2009 Philips Semiconductors, but it made no difference.
Judging by researching the web, it seems to be a lot of other users having the same problem and also with different TV tuner cards.
I use this TV tuner card, and it is connected to an external antenna. It's the only method I have on my PC for the reception of digital television in the United Kingdom
It worked ok when it was running on Windows VISTA.
Have you any suggestions please?
All,
Sorry for the delay in responding. I've never seen the above mediaCenterDataStore.db file so searched the Internet and found that the best way to solve the problem is to disable Windows Media to run. The PC should restart.
Then you re-enable Windows Media Center, and then open Windows Media Center and begin the process of setting TV and this time it works fine.
Either way, I also discovered that my TV tuner card not working, so I replaced it with a PCTV NanoStick T2.
I can now TV works as well on the PCTV s/w, as well as on Windows Media Center.
Now, everything works fine, and this issue may now be closed.
For those interested, this is how to disable Windows Media Center for WINDOWS 7 users:
BEGINNING
CONTROL PANEL
PROGRAMS and FEATURES
Select "turn on or off Windows features.
You will find on the left side of the Panel
It opens a new window
Search
MULTIMEDIA FEATURES
Extend the FUNCTIONALITY of MEDIA
Uncheck the box Windows MEDIA CENTER
Follow the instructions to continue.
It takes some time.
It is important to ensure that you have nothing else running like the PC restart after that
Restart the PC
Now, go back to the above process
Re-check WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER to be able to again
It does not suggest to reboot your PC, but I did anyway
I then opened MEDIA CENTER in the normal way
Then, I managed to complete the TV setting process which has taken time but do not hang at all.
Good luck!

limitation of number 1 to 158 channel - Windows Media Center
When I try to add a channel with a number in the 400s to my list of TV channels, I get a message error "Invalid Channel number - enter a channel between 1 and 158 number." What is a limitation of Windows Media Center or my HDTV card (which is a Combo NTSC/ATSC Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600)?
If a limitation of Windows Media Center, is there a version that accesses higher number channels? I could not find a version number for Windows Media Center when I checked the properties. I am running Vista Home Premium 32 - bit with Service Pack 2.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Windows Media Center TV tuner not detected
My current operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
(I installed SP2 from microsoft.com)
I have the Version of the Windows Media Center - Windows Vista 6.0.6002.18030 software (vistasp2_gdr.090429 - 2357). I'm trying to watch TV on my laptop. I have Windows Media Center and am confused about the version because I saw this - if the version number is 6.0.6001.18000, you are NOT running Windows Media Center TV Pack. You are running the version of Windows Media Center, which is included in Windows Vista or in Windows Vista SP1.
As you can see my version (numbers) are alittle different on the end, also the info in parentheses (vistasp2_gdr.090429 - 2357) I don't know what that means. When I tried to configure the tv signal in Windows Media Center, I was told: the TV signal cannot be configured because no tv tuner hardware was detected. So, how can I find out if there is an internal tv tuner installed and everything is not detected? My laptop is new - 3 weeks, and I think that all the drivers are current. While they inspected the help windows vista hardware compatibility list for 64-bit vista tv tuners, I was flooded for more information that I knew what to do with. I'm obviously not a computer genius and will never be. I'm open to suggestions. I just need to know what I have to do to be able to watch TV on my laptop. Any help will be appreciated! Thank you.Hello

With windows media center on the network.
I have my directv and computers connected to the internet and I try to use windows media center, but it says that it cannot find the tuner when I try to set up the tv. I have a Toshiba A215 with Windows Vista home premium (which apparently has no tuner). I need a tuner since I have everything connected to a network? My tv wil recognize the computer: I use directv VOD and can get pictures from my computer, but the library does not recognize the tv. I use media center as it seems it would be an easy way to organize media. I was also wondering if you can use media center or y at - it another way to other internet videos on TV (i.e. youtube...). I have some suggestions that I'm not a person savy very tech.
Thanks, BuckyTC

Problem: Windows media Center Configuration connection to the digital cable box.
I have HP Pavilion Elite with Windows Home Premium. How do I get the library to accept the signal from the digital decoder (without additional I.R.). The signal passes through fine using the S-video input, change channel with the cable, but 'Set up' box control requires I connect "I.R. Blaster (?) covering the cable box sensor which then beats command of other devices (television, etc.) using the cable box.
Hi M.G.Nichols1945,
What is the exact message that you receive?
You can follow the steps mentioned below to setup windows media Center without using hardware IR (infrared):
1. open Windows Media Center and go to tasks > settings > TV > Setup TV Signal
2. click on Yes to the question that appears.
3. click on the default settings in the wizard until you get to the option where it asks if you want to configure your signal automatically or manually.
4 choose think I will manually configure my TV Signal
5. Select antenna; Choose analog only antenna after you go through this return to TV settings and click Finish.
6. now, you should have your installation center media without the use of IR material. You must use the cable box to change channels
You can follow the instructions of the manufacturer of your computer to set up your Digital Cable Ready tuner. So that the Digital Cable Ready tuner receive cable content, your computer must be a specially identified Digital Cable Ready computer.

Windows media center analysis drops channels with the call sign not in the guide
I'm trying to find the right place to report this problem.
When library scanned for channels recently that he hasn't found a bunch of DTT hd (clearqam) who are present and unencrypted.
Scanning with the help of the application of the tv tuner has revealed that the channel was present and unencrypted.
He showed that the channels have call signs which were not present in the digital guide. that is a call sign was "KPHO HD" when the digital guide for the channel list KPHODT
I had checked in the list of all channels that find the Media Center and the numbers were not present in media center.
This seems to be a bug because the channel should be found even if no digital guide for the channel is found.
The solution is to locate the actual channels by another application.
Add channels with the guides Add missing channels
Change the channel to have the correct list and the channel number.
