Full hard drive space

I have an alert on my PC the drive backup is saved on the States don't have enough space.  I have two hard drives on my lap top is local disc(C:) qui a l'espace et l'autre est reprise (d), which is one that is almost out of space.)  I never saved before.  When you troubleshoot the alert on the space, I'm done support for the first time.  I'm trying to free up space by deleting unnecessary data, but I don't know how.  Do I need to save the data on this hard drive, if I already have the hard disk (C :).  If I just erase all this out, will I lose all my programs and files on my computer.  Sorry if this is a stupid question, I don't know anything about that kind of thing.

Thank you

Judey

Hello

You do not have 2 hard drives, you have 2 partitions on the hard disk of 1.

And you do not save backups on the recovery D: Partition

Do not defragment the recovery partition, compress or save whatever it is him.

In other words, don't touch not except for applications below...

This recovery partition on your hard drive was photographed during the production for 2 reasons:

1. to reinstall the operating system in the case of a system failure.

2 to the recovery disc in the case of a hard disk failure, so that you can reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Ask the manufacturer, how to make them.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them how to solve the problem, because it is their recovery on D: software.

And your backups must be stored on DVDs or an external hard drive; External hard drive preferably.

See you soon.

  • Many disappear from the hard drive space

    Hello

Recently I factory reset my computer and proceeded to put some of my old files save them on the computer. Some of the files were games, but I realized that I couldn't play without resettlement of their records. I was unable to uninstall properly an any of them, so I just deleted files - but I noticed after I had deleted the files that I had lost more (about 30-40 GB worth) hard disk space

When I went to reinstall these games of their records, I found that they were taking about three times as much space as they said they would be (for example, it said it would take up to about 3.5 GB of space, but it ended up taking 11 concerts of my DD)

Since then, I've lost an another 30 concerts without doing anything.

Is there a reason for this? I scanned my computer for any sort of malware with two different anti virus systems, and they all come in white. I have two firewalls running as well, so I highly doubt that it is malware.

I managed to solve the problem.

System Restore has been fixed to raise as much as 50% of my hard drive space. I have since lowered to a more reasonable amount and have obtained a large part of the rear of space SD, and I at least know where the rest. Thank you very much for the help.

  • My (C) hard drive space becomes low. What can I do?

    Hello

My Windows Update is set to the recommended level. (C) hard drive space becomes low and other drives (E, F, G) have enough space. What happens if the C drive space comes to level down while Windows Update is taking place. The minimum amount of space have stand to drive C? How to manage the process?

    Your cooperation will be appreciated.

    Thanks & Rgds,
    Solvemachine

You really need to think about 15%, a minimum of free space on the disk.

Your 1st task is to try to identify the cause of the lack of space. Things like music, photos and especially video may gradually creep on you.

TreeSize here is quite useful to work where space is gone.

Libraries can be moved. Expand 1st level of etiquette in the left pane to display the top folder and right-click. The location of the tab, you can change the location of one of the empty discs and it will copy all files when you click on move. If you have more than one user, it is best to create a record of the user for each group and then do it for each of them. Don't forget to check the new location is included in all of the backups.

Also use disk cleanup too. Open the computer, right click on the C drive, and then click Properties. Click Disk Cleanup. For more options in the result, click on the option of system files and see what you can get rid of.

Check the system restore to see how much disk space it uses:

    Click Start

    Right click on computer

    Click on properties

    Click on advanced system settings

    Click on the System Protection

    Click on configure

Adjust the amount of disk space allocated to system restore.

In addition, the amount of RAM you have installed, it will take more disk space for paging, hibernation, and dump files.

  • Bridge takes a lot of hard drive space

    Hello world

IM new to this forum and new also for Photoshop CS6 and everything that surounds it.

I had a small question which may be simple to you guys but its been annoys me a bit

I work with bridge this morning and import pictures in it. Then I looked at my hard drive space and he was down about 5 GB. I do not change or do anything special, just imported photos so it would be easier when I start using PS CS6. Is it normal when I import images that it takes up little space on my hard drive. I thought that the bridge was used only to create a link between my photo file and Psalm I then tried to remove the images in Bridge to see if space would come back available, but it didn't. Anyone? Please help me to answer my questions?

    Thank you

PS: I have 164 GB of free space on my hard drive, if it helps. Thanks again

What you see is normal.  Once you import pictures Bridge generates a cache file, then you can disply a thumbnail.  Delete the picture will still retain the thumbnail, which is the function of compact cache.

The options you choose depend on the size of the cache.   Embedded thumbnails takes less space.  If you check generate and save previews of 100% that will really increase the size of the cache folder.

See this thread for more information on the cache.  http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/1094509?TSTART=0

    Hello mknj,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Support from Apple. I know how it is important to keep your Mac organized and your free storage space, and I want to help him. Just to be sure, after you remove the photos in question, did you also remove them from the "Recently deleted" album in the Photos app? This is like the trash on your mac but specific photos, giving you an extra chance to save your photos that you not wanted to delete. Until that they are excluded from this album space on your Mac will remain full.

To find this Album open the Photos app and click 'Albums' tab on top and click to open it. To empty this album 'Delete All' at the top click or select the photos you want to delete and click Delete.

If you have already done so, try restarting your computer and again controlled storage. Let us know if you have any other problem, and the whole community will be there to help.

  • My computer is running out of hard drive space

So I got a message in the Photos saying that it optimize the photos stored on my computer and let the full resolution of those in the cloud.

But my computer is still only 3 GB of free hard drive so it runs slowly.  How to make Photos to optimize better so that I have more like 10 GB of free hard drive?

    Thank you

Optimal use of this computer could be a problem with only 3 GB left.3GB is there anything that will adjust upward for the swap disk cache. Even 10 GB on a hard drive to boot will really push it and it is not realistic to expect a computer to perform optimally with 10 GB of space. HD is used by the computer for permanent and temporary files and space can fill up very quickly.

Delete some files on your hard drive or put your images on an external drive.

Optimization of images with either change the format or quality. If you ok with losing than to convert them, otherwise you get a cheap external. A 1 TB USB 3 external drive can go less than 75 $us and could the investments needed at this stage.

  • my hard drive space is endangered

My hard drive is usually more often full, but I usually keep at least 1 GB free. Last night my father using the computer and a message popped up saying the space available on the drive C has been low. Once he was finished I checked it and it said that there are about 200 MB available. I went in and ran Norton Security Suite disk cleanup, which releases about 700 MB, and I went in my own files and deleted the old files that I is no longer necessary to release an another 200 + MB. Less than 24 hours later, I have the same problem, meanwhile, I downloaded a few files, but all handsets may be equal to 100 MB. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

With this little free, temporary files, virtual memory, hibernation, System Restore and updates all come to mind.

Free space - Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.  If you have a 60 GB hard drive, which is about 55 GB formatted.  If your applications/WIndows install base is big enough (games or something) - 15 GB may be taken over by who.  There's 40 GB for your data.  Check that you use often.  There really about 8 GB free on that system at all times.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.

-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • Hard drive space used/free info displayed is incorrect

My hard disk space used and the space free information apparently enormously out of proportion to the actual use. Can't understand why.

    Details:

My disk C (683 GB) indicated (including the Information and records management system) as having 140 GB of used space.

I find that about 42 GB, including hidden files, system files, swap file and hiberfil.sys.

My computer came with the SATA 750Go unique fully formatted and whose 683 GB C drive and a recovery disk 15 GB D.

I want to reduce C & create a new partition for documents before installing some new important software on C.

I am reluctant to shrink, or install new software, until I have find the mystery of this 100 GB of files to inventory.

I ran disk cleanup and Defragmenter. No change in the amount of space used / free display.

When I click the icon of the C in disk management and choose shrink, he says I can reduce C only to about 500 GB. I understand that shrink should be done several times to get full party, so presumably he would get smaller. I the have not used yet, but because of the concern/mystification about the reasons for this apparently incorrect space used for the drive.

I have Vista Home Premium (64-bit). I don't have a shadow copy volume.

I have not installed or changed anything significant since buying the computer, nor what I made a backup to C or D or large file transfer done.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Virginia2332,

You mentioned that the total size of the hard drive is 750 GB and also mentioned that the size is 683 after formatting and 15 GB recovery partition that add up to 698 GB. So where's the advantage remaining 52 GB.

You have another partition outside C and D.

However, I suggest you perform a check disk on your computer that will rectify the bad sectors, if any. Bad sectors will also be counted as used space.

CHKDSK (Chkdsk.exe) is a tool for command line that checks volumes of disk for problems and attempts to fix everything what it finds.

    1. click on Start.

    2. type cmd in the search box start and press to enter.

    3. type the following command at the command prompt: chkdsk driveletter: / f/r (chkdsk c:/f/r)

    4. check the size of the hard drive.

A few months (maybe a year), I used Bootcamp to create a partition on my Mac Windows. Today, I decided to use Bootcamp to delete said partition again. It worked well until it abruptly stopped Bootcamp, saying: the partition could not be deleted. I looked at my memory and saw that the partition has not been restored to my original HD. So now, Miss me about 50 + gigabytes of data.

    Hey Jeremiah-OOP.

It seems that you went to delete the Bootcamp partition, but the utility has failed during the process. Now in disk utility, the Bootcamp partition does not appear but your primary partition is always smaller and lack of space that used to be under the partition Bootcamp.

Let's take a look at this article: disk utility (El Capitan): partitioning a physical disk

    Expand a volume

If you have several volumes on a device, and one of them is running out of space, you will be able to expand without losing the files it contains.

To enlarge a volume, you must delete the volume that comes after him on the device, and then move the end point of the volume you want to enlarge in the freed space. You cannot expand the last volume on a device.

WARNING: When you delete a volume, all data thereon is erased. Don't forget to back up your data before you start.

You may need to use disk utility to expand your primary volume to take advantage of all the hard drive again.

    Take care!

  • Hard drive space

I have a Satellite 1730 CDT with Windows Millennium. When you use the notebook for the first time, I could choose between the version in Dutch, French or English. I use Dutch.
Total memory of the hard drive is 5.5 GB. But the hard disk shows a memory of only 0.5 GB. There's not a lot of programs on the hard drive, only MS Works.
Is it possible that the French and English versions are always hard disk? And I can remove them by using the systemrecovery disc?

    Hi rob.jager,

I found the information on the pages of Microsoft, Windows Me does not have need around 320 MB on your hard drive. So there must be some other stuff on it.

Using your recovery disc are not required of all data will be deleted (so Don t forget to back up important data). Maybe this will help.
