Full restore of the database of RMAN cross-platform

All the

I have a database 10.2.0.3 on Solaris 10 OS.

I did a full upward (level 0) this database using rman with auto save on. I'm trying to worl on a scenario where I could restore that backup on another linux machine. so I copied all the elements on the target linux server backup. go to a local installation of RDBMS (10.2.0.3) on the linux machine I'm trying to restore the database... but does not yet...

When I deliver restore spfile or restore the control file a + < backup file name > +; the guest continues search in rear location that responded to the questionnaire didn't tell no piece found backup... Here are the encode stage, I'm...

1. set up env on the linux server

2 rman target /.

(instance not started but rman to connect)

3 set the DBID = + < ID DB data source running on Solaris > +.

It run set dbid =

4 startup nomount

as the pfile/spfile file is not available in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs on a linux machine picks it up pfile by default however, but the instance stars no Assembly...

5 restore spfile to ' / u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/rman_bkp/c-300009955'

Here, he is not able to restore any thing.same is the case with the control file.

Ideas please advice

Thanks for the referance. Now, I understand that I am not able to use the transportable database command to carry the entire db. However, there is a line in the 'Cross-Platform Database Transportable Restrictions' that says ++ 'main restricting cross-platform transportable database is that the platform of source and destination must share the same endian format. For example, while you can transport a database from Microsoft Windows to Linux for x 86 (the two little endian) or HP - UX, Aix (the two big endian), you may not carry a set of base HP_UX to Linux for x 86 using this feature. You can, however, create a new database on a destination manually, and necessary transport of tablespaces of the source database platform using cross-platform transportable tablespace as described in "Cross - Platform Tranportation Tablespace: CONVERT DATAFILE or TABLESPACE. » +

I understand that if we are willing to carry each tablespace from Source to target individually, may then be able to replicate a transportable database. Fact the transportable tablespace have not all restrictions has obtained from the database of transport compared to the platform and Endian? Please specify.

Also is there a matrix of support for thr transportable database and tablespaces which we could see?

Kind regards!

Sarat,

The same restriction that is there for the transport of the whole base is quite real for the transportable tablespace as well if you go to the cross-platform. Endian must match across platforms that only you can do otherwise, as the database feature, you must convert the source file to the target-endian.

If you look at the doc of reference order of unlocking Tablespace
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta063.htm#RCMRF1919

This restriction is documented here in addition to the other restrictions

Restrictions and antonyms

Limitations on the creation of tablespace portable games described in the Oracle database administrator's Guide apply to transport backup storage spaces, with the exception of accountability read-only storage.

TRANSPORT TABLESPACE does not format endian conversion. If the target platform has a different endian format, you must use the CONVERT RMAN command to perform the separate step of conversion of data files endian format portable overall.

    the recovery was successful, but achieved your goal.

    There are several options to reach your goal to recover your database to a particular State that is point in time.

    1 restore the file of control as noted above. you restore the control file must not be aware of the generated once archivelog that you update your table. IE backup controlfile prior you updatedyour table.

    2. do not apply archivelog all during recovery. You can use SNA, SEQUENCE, RESTORE POINT option of the recover command. This option requires that you open your database with resetlog.

    read: scene of Flashback and the database Point-in - time recovery

    After a restore successful your database (before the recover command), you can "alter database open read-only" to check and confirm the values in the table.

  • Refresh the production database to test the database with RMAN

    Hi experts,

    I want to refresh the production database to test the database with RMAN. You can help me please how to do this.

    I saw a lot of blog on the internet but not got a satisfactory answer.

    Reg,

    Thomas verrma

    Thomas

    Follow these steps

    1. on the server target

    a. Add entry in oratab

    b. create init.ora for target db copy of source

    c. If you use catalog

    connect to the RMAN catalog, you can use the double option to clone run below

    one.

    RMAN > Connect target sys /@trgt

    RMAN > Connect Catalog rman /@catalog

    b. check that the backup connects to the source and to collect information on the elements of backup that contains the backup controlfile

    c. restore the controlfile

    RMAN > set DBID = xxxxxxxx (DBID of the source db)

    RMAN > run

    {

    allocate channels ch1 type parms 'SBT_TAPE' = 'ENV = (NB_ORA_CLIENT =, NB_ORA_SERV =)';

    Restore controlfile from "/ c-DBID-xxxxxxxx-00';

    }

    Once the controlfile is restored, you can mount the db

    change the editing of the database;

    run

    {

    until ' TO_DATE (2014-SEPT-10 10:00 ', MY - DD - YYYY HH24 ') ";

    allocate channels ch1 type parms 'SBT_TAPE' = 'ENV = (NB_ORA_CLIENT =, NB_ORA_SERV =)';

    restore the database;

    recover the database;

    }

    ALTER database open resetlogs;

    stop immediately;

    bootable media;

    nest target = / = dbname

    change the system db_name set = scope = spfile;

    stop immediately;

    Startup mount

    ALTER database open resetlogs;

  • How to make a backup of the database with RMAN Oracle Single Instance

    People,

    Hello. I use the server of Oracle 11 GR 1 material with operating system Oracle Linux 5.10 database.

    I understand how to back up the database instance in SQL Server with Windows. But do not really understand how to back up the database instance in Oracle on Linux.
    I did it cold and hot backup for the database HRCS90 instance, but both receive the same error message.

    Can any folk tell me specific steps (order by order) to back up a single instance of the database in Oracle with RMAN?

    Thank you.

    Yes, you can restore and recover the backup, but not at the moment. You will only be able to restore and recover at the time of your backup.

    For example.

    If you take backup (mount point with no mode of journal archive) at 06:00 and your grave database crashes at 21:00, you will be able to restore and recover until 06:00. You will find all the changes made to the database between 06:00 and 21:00.

    If you want your database to recover until 9 PM or until a point in time, then you must put your database in log mode archive, and then save the archives.

    Is it possible to duplicate/clone of Soalris in Linux? :-)))))

    You can not use the command DUPLICATE between platforms (see duplicate restrictions in the documentation). It is possible to perform a cross-platform via RMAN transport. This process is also explained in the documentation.

    Werner

    You have an additional complication, patch levels are different. Perhaps datapump here is a better solution - depending on the size of the database.

    And I hope that Solaris on x 86-64 (no SPARC), otherwise the next complication.

  • How to recover the database with RMAN avoiding blur

    Hi gurus,

    I'm stuck in a situation and need your help.

    We check if our backups are valid or not. So it gave me a new server and backups/archives to a 2 TB database I need to restore/recovery. I followed steps below.

    (1) copied the prod parameter file to test.

    (2) make the necessary changes in the init file.

    db_file_name_convert, etc..

    (3) start db in nomount mode.

    (4) restore the backup control file

    Restore controlfile to ' / oraback/ARCH/prod/backup_controlfiles/c-250795000-20141030-01';

    (5) mount the database.

    (6) created under the rman script and executed.

    Questions-

    -Restore completed successfully, but I found that few archives are missing.

    -I pulled from database to recover until cancel using backup controlfile; There is a below error

    You can not ignore the archivelogs.

    If the archivelogs are not available, you need a database backup that was created after missing the last archivelog point.

  • How to copy the database using rman file from another location.

    You can clone data base using the files of rman backup from somewhere else (on the server to clone).

    I have two server db source and clone db server.
    I normally copy the files of RMAN backup to clone server (under the same folder structure, as it was on the source server).

    The purpose of the test, IE I don't have same partition and free space on the source server and the clone.

    I usually use under notes to the clone.

    I would try to explain for example again.
    In source server, my rman backup are stored in / U01 and clone server, I copied the files of rman /u04. What step I should take to clone to work anywhere else?

  • is validate the restore of the databases fairly

    Hi guys

    Is it enough to perform this restore validate sufficient data to prove that the databases can be restored?

    Please tell me whether or not.

    Thank you

    Hi haggy_fleisch,

    Oracle documentation.

    RESTORATION... VALIDATE causes RMAN select existing backups that she would use to perform a RESTORE operation and scan them all to make sure that they are present and free of corruption.

    If this seems sufficient.

    There is an argument for actually performing a restore (or duplicate) so not only a scan is performed, but also a write to the disk in a way a little more tests.

  • With regard to the restoration of the database and recovery (DBPITR)

    Hello

    Today I have a level 0 backup (23/01/2015) and I want to restore and to recover the database up to yesterday (22/01/2015-21:00) by using the backup of level 0 of today.

    Is this possible? If so, please tell me how?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    It is not possible to restore and to recover the database until yesterday with the backup of level 0 of today.

    Your flashback database is active? If it is active, then you can use flashback database.

    to check it out;

    Select flashback_on in the database of v$.

  • Is there a way to do a full restore of the PC to windows vista Home premium?

    I have a dv6871us pavilion with windows vista 32 bit with vista home premium.  I lost my wireless card and nothing I tried works to get it back. I tried to restore my system to a different date and which will not work. I was about to do a full restore pc but read that vista family premium is not included. Is there a way I can restore my laptop to factory settings?

    Finally! I disabled my security software and I was able to get online. I put it to activate when I rebooted. So I rebooted and now I am able to get online. I don't know what happened, but at least if it happens again, I'll know where to look. Thank you all for your help.

  • Recover the database by rman bkup

    Hello

    It's a question...

    We have one day old hot rman backup on dvd... now that we have lost everything... all the data files, controlfiles... etc...
    but we have the file to archive paper yesterday... on another server...
    We do not know ramn used the catalog database or not...

    How can recover us our database... wht will...

    no idea...

    Hi again!

    Sorry initially I didn't understand exactly what is your problem. The problem with the recovery catalog is a very bad. You cannot know whether or not a catalog of recovery has been used for the backup. But if there's a DB catalog then you can find if you look in your tnsnames.ora or ldap. Somewhere there's a service network for a DB catalog name when it exists. I hope that you got a copy of your tnsnames.ora. If this isn't the case, then I don't know how to find your catalog.

    But besides that recover you DB on a new host, follow these steps:
    1.) install the Oracle software on the new server. It is easier if you use the same structure of directory on the server crashed.
    2.) create a passwordfile on the new server with orapwd

    orapwd -entries x -password pwd -file orapwSID.ora

    Please replace x with the maximum number of entries in your new passwordfile and replace SID with the SID of your new DB.
    3.) start RMAN

    rman target /

    4.) start your new instance in NOMOUNT.

    startup force nomount;

    5.) set your DBID. If you do not know your DBID you can easily get the name of an automatic backup.

    SET DBID 669002767;

    6.) create a PFILE/SPFILE for your new DB file or reuse your old if you have a backup

    RUN {
      SET CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK
      TO 'C:\Backup\%F';
      RESTORE SPFILE FROM AUTOBACKUP;
    }

    7.) restore your controlfile.

    shutdown;
    startup force nomount;
    RUN {
      SET CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK
      TO 'C:\Backup\%F';
      RESTORE CONTROLFILE FROM AUTOBACKUP;
    }

    8.) mount your database

    shutdown;
    startup mount;

    9.) restore and recover data files

    RESTORE database;
    RECOVER database until cancel;

    10.) open your database with resetlogs.

    SQL 'ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS';

    I don't know if it will work because it's too can made on your database and servers that I don't know, but maybe I'll be useful to you.

    Yours sincerely

  • restoration of the database

    Hi all

    As part of the requirement of the application, we have to restore a database to a stand-alone server from node 4 CARS.

    Source database: node 4 CARS with 11.1.0.7 version

    Target database must be: the standalone (11.1.0.7) with ASM database

    For RDBMS House, we can install binary 11.1.0.6 and 11.1.0.7 patch, but how can we setup DSO for this version?

    Thank you.

    Hello

    You should worry tha database version bacause the requirements of your applications, but, the DSO compatibility does too. I mean, to use ASM with Oracle 11 g 1 material you work, or install DSO the same or later version and that you can work very well.

    Read the following Oracle Documentation

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b31107/asminst.htm#CHDBIGIE

    Kind regards

  • SYS, SYSTEM and SYSAUX when full update of the database.

    I took a full export of database using below command
    expdp "'/ as sysdba'" full=Y directory=DPUMP_DIR dumpfile=expdp_11032011.dmp logfile=expdp_11032011.log
    Now, I need to import this file in a different database.

    When schema refresh usually let us down all the object in this scheme and start to cool, but when you do the back upward, we have to drop all the user?
    what the user sys, system and sysaux?

    In general, you need not do anything with the SYS and SYSTEM schemas. Just let it export and import of run and ignore the schemas SYS or SYSTEM errors during import.

    I've never seen a database where SYS MMR SYSTEM does not use default tablespace: I think it is impossible because it is part of the process of creation of database that you cannot change.

  • Windows Small Business Server 2008 starts after the full restoration of the PC

    I need help URGENT here. My company has a HP Vantage 2 hard drives with Windows 2008 Server. C and D, both have important data on them. D drive has become corrupted over the last weekend, and as a result, the server was very slow and data on the d drive was inaccessible. Unfortunately, D drive was somehow part of the boot sequence, and when I took it out, the computer would not start at all.

    Well made to purchase two new drives of 1 TB and replace the old records with them (we need the extra space anyway) and I did a complete system restore by booting from the windows installation CD and choose the external USB hard drive, we had that we were using for daily backups. Restore seemed to be going great, it took almost 3 hours and when he was done he had some problems.

    1 when the external USB drive was plugged and the system tried to start, it would give an error message and would not continue even if the BIOS was said to NOT boot from the USB key.

    2. when the drive has been disconnected, windows seems to start normally, I would still get up to a point where I had a mouse cursor that I could move on a black screen, but then the computer would suddenly reboot! Like someone hitting the reset button. I can hear the drives stop when it happens. The same thing happens with no failure or last known good configuration mode.

    It is a major problem because we do not have Internet or files. I wish there was a phone number that I can call for assistance. I would be happy to pay for it! even if it is a third party.

    I saw that Microsoft had "pay per incident" support but it just says: it is $ 260, what for? An hour? A case? A month?

    Any help would be appreciated
