Is there a way to do a full restore of the PC to windows vista Home premium?

I have a dv6871us pavilion with windows vista 32 bit with vista home premium.  I lost my wireless card and nothing I tried works to get it back. I tried to restore my system to a different date and which will not work. I was about to do a full restore pc but read that vista family premium is not included. Is there a way I can restore my laptop to factory settings?

Finally! I disabled my security software and I was able to get online. I put it to activate when I rebooted. So I rebooted and now I am able to get online. I don't know what happened, but at least if it happens again, I'll know where to look. Thank you all for your help.

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit SP2.

Is there a way to delete the records of 'detail' of only updates of failure or cancelled in the history of Windows Update?

I just installed hotfix for Windows (KB947821).

It looks like a lot of my earlier 'failed' and 'Cancelled' updates are automatically updated and installed, and successfully, I might add.

Some dates in some records do not seem much sense. I guess I'm looking for a way to select the records, I want to get rid of.

    Help?

    Hi Jeffrey,.

It's not really a taken way in charge to remove only the cancelled or failed updates. These are taken from windows logs and displayed in the history. Steps that Jose post is a way to remove all files in history and will remove all updates as well as a failed/cancelled updates successfully.

I have a HP Pavilion Windows Vista Home Premium, and the D: drive is full. I don't understand how he got that way... but... I've never used windows to the top, however I do back up with my Norton Security.  I'm not a COMPUTER guru AT ALL and am very confused as to what must be saved for me to do a system restore.  I just made a backup on a 16 GB usb flash drive, which included photos, documents, email, contacts and music.  But what of my registry or my drivers I've updated on the latest updates of 2 years and windows?

So in plain English for the layperson to the computer, lol, can someone tell me...

    1. where should I back up to? (windows, norton?)

    2. what should I back up? EXACTLY, please. lol (I have hundreds of games, I don't want to back to the top if possible)

3 and... HOW MUCH ALCOHOL SHOULD I HAVE AVAILABLE WHILE TRYING THIS. LOL just kidding. Laughing out loud

    Hello

Updates must be installed in a certain order and no Service Pack must be installed unless and until it is offered through Windows Update.

    However, try these options:

Step 1: You can not reuse what already automatically downloaded and installed. You can however save updates and install them manually if you wish.

Step 2: You can create a system image on the computer. A system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working.

  • What happens if there is multi-core or Dual-Core coupling processors to the top with Windows 7 Home Premium?

So if I have a Windows7 Home Premium 64 - bit operating system and I use a processor dual core (Intel Dual Core e5300 CPU) are fully compatible or how they work together, given the fact that Windows 7 recognizes that one of the two processors? Playback of the system is expressed in the fact that it has two current processors. Both processors work simultaneously to form a combined data stream is a dormant or they turn on and off opposing to another so that each works half the time? Many scenarios as possible, but I would like to know... the real answer as to what needs to be changed eventually to bring together a system more fluid? My main question is the operating system and the processor may be an incompatibility problem that has not yet been addressed? I can't find any answer in the Center Compatabiity of Windows 7 or anywhere else. Or is the limitation of windows 7 Home Premium and only be able to support an unfounded processor see the fact that there are many systems that are in work today with these components. ?

    Hey Randy,

If your system has two separate physical processors (not hearts) and you are running Windows 7 Home Premium, the second processor is completely ignored. It turns on and turn his fans, but it does not all rights for the computer. Windows 7 Home Premium will not take advantage of a single processor.

However, if you have a single physical processor with multiple cores, Windows 7 64-bit will benefit from up to 256 cores. It is very probably the type of machine that you have because it is quite rare to have multiple processors co-location in a workstation computer.

In this scenario, Windows will use two cores for separate tasks. Applications will be evenly distributed between the carrots, unless the application has been written to take advantage of multiple cores. The two hearts are turned on and both are used when the system is running.

You can check if Windows has recognized the two hearts looking Manager of the tasks of your system:

    1. Open the Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, and then click Start Task Manager.
    2. Click the performance tab.

The top two graphs show how much CPU is used, as well at the moment and for a few minutes. If the CPU usage history graph seems shared, your computer has multiple processors, a single dual-core CPU or both.

Windows 7 system requirements also go in a little more detail on how many windows cores/processors can take in charge:

  • Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit - cannot do group policy as disabled system restore, but have no way to activate Group Policy.

Hi, I have Windows Home Premium 64-bit. I want to create a restore point, but I get a message saying that the system restore has been disabled by the administrator of the political group contact domain administrator. I am connected with an administrator account. I have read forums that give instructions to access the system restore options: file or tabs just do not appear and there are some comments saying that the option does not exist in my version. So how the hell do I create a system restore point in Vista Home Premium?

    Using the Group Policy Editor
If your edition of Windows Vista includes the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) snap-in, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
    2. go to the following branch: Computer Configuration | Administrative templates | System | System Restore
    3. double click on disable the Configuration and set it to not configured.
Note: If the above setting is already set to not configured, set it to "Enabled" and click on apply. Return back the setting to not configured, then click on apply, OK.
    4. exit the Group Policy Editor.

If using the Group Policy Editor do not fix the problem, try the registry fix from the following.

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. • Is there a form ANY of PhotoShop software that I can buy/download on my computer Windows Vista Home Premium?

Usually I am well aware, adobe does not support Vista.  However, I need PhotoShop to continue my work off campus during an internship.  I honestly don't care if it's CC, or elements, but I need a program that allows me to edit the photos.  I don't want to jump the gun well and buy some CD or download software that ends upward is not compatible.  I apologize if this is a strange request.  If someone asks me why I still have Vista, the answer is essentially:

    (1) there is a computer for 5-6 years and this is the program it is came with, at the time (and that I'm used to)

    (2) as a student at the University, my biggest fear of switching to Windows 7 or 8, it's that they are not "user friendly" as some people have placed (even once, student here so the LAST thing I want is not being able to find all of my documents... my father is currently having this problem with Windows 8)

    (3) I'm not too keen on the upgrade to Windows 7 or 8, unless it is a last resort, AND I must not copy everything on my computer on a hard drive and then move it to after the upgrade (I'm not that tech savy so I fear, I will mess something up)

I apologize once again if it seems strange or anxious about me, but I really want to continue to help the teachers at my school buy work on this project (they already deal with issues of setting up the MAC it to work with the new website).  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Windows Vista home Premium 32 bit SP2: iTunes 10.1: there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run.

I worked on it for about 3 days now. It's driving me crazy. I tried everything I could find to try to solve this problem.

When installing iTunes it stops and a box will then appear to me said "there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support provider or package. "No error message or anything, that's all I get. When I hit the only button I can hit the OK button, it continues to install QuickTime. Sometimes, it will install the iTunes file and the shortcut, but the shortcut does never work and the iTunes file is always empty. I have download the installer directly from Apple.com and save to the desktop, a new copy after each test (just in case).

Here is a list of what I've tried:

Yes, I am the administrator of the computer with admin abilities, yes I checked run this program as an administrator. I also made sure to stop all this as possible could interfere with the instillation, including my anti virus and what not even before I tried a clean boot.

Is there anything else I can try?

Uninstall the installed updates and install them one at a time to find the culprit.

Also - is that what you did update all hardware drivers?  Use not anything BUILT IN Windows to do - actually figure on what hardware you have (motherboard chipset, video card, audio devce (s) of device and network for example) and withdraws the manufacturers of each driver.
