Function key stuck on - Satellite L25

Hello

I have a Satellite L25-S1215. I can't get the key to unlock. Tried to use the utilities, but no option to turn off the FN keys (I will never use them). Initially, laptop starts and I can't connect to windows, but after that, the function key will automatically turn on and will not be cut.

I had a wireless Microsoft keyboard and mouse, but have uninstalled the keyboard for troubleshooting, does not set it. I searched the forums and found nothing.
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance :)

Hello
On my M20, you can lock/unlock the fn with FN + F10 or FN + F11 for the numeric keypad only, try it

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite L50-C-20W with Windows 10. The default behavior of the function keys is functions like volume, toggle WiFi, etc.. \
To use F1, F2 etc we need to press the FN key. Very annoying when not used. Display dimming always when I want to change the field (F2).

    How to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Theo,.
beginning of > applications > TOSHIBA > system settings.
Select [function keys], here you will find the options [SPECIAL KEY MODE] and [KEY NORMAL MODE].
With NORMAL MODE KEY (F1 - F12), normal F1... F12 features are turned on without pressing the [FN] key first.

Pls don't mind if the appellation of the options is a little different, I translated, because I have an installation of the German system.

I hope I could help, Dieter

  • Brightness, function keys, WinXP and Satellite Pro A200

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite Pro A200 (serial PSAE7E) with WIndows Vista and try to install Windows XP next.
After hours of hunting for drivers (with moderate success) and try to install a XP in a privileged way (3rd partition main, 2nd is for Vista), I stopped.

I am not able to get to work a function keys (keys, light, monitor, CPU frequency and wireless) XP. Under Vista, these keys only works when Toshiba Flash Cards application is running - when I turn this app, these keys are also unavailable (why?).

I browsed a forum and found a few threads also wrote about this topics, update BIOS to version XP
But I do not found answers to my questions:

(* 1) * is a software (like FlashCards, but for XP) _Activer under XP system function keys? configuration: (Vista + XP + BIOS for Vista)

(* 2) * if I install a BIOS XP version, what happens to my Vista system installed on my laptop? It stops stating, or function keys stop responding or even a different Components would be inaccessible?
Someone has tested the configuration like this (Vista + XP + BIOS for XP)

(* 3) * it is possible to Flash the BIOS to the version of Vista the XP version and still the version of Vista? (maybye I should Flash the BIOS before you start the system?)

Currently I use the BIOS version 1.70 of Vista, Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD and XP SP2.

    Hi mate,

    long discussion, short answer:

    1. no it not there no software (no software officially released and taken in charge) that is available for XP on a Sat A200.

    2. your system will operate normally, only the behavior of the function keys on bios level will change. If you Flash the bios with the XP version that the function keys should be available under XP without any software.

3 Yes, it s definitely possible to reflash the BIOS since many clients have machines with XP and want to use Vista (I never understand but hey..)

I hope that every question has been answered.

  • Function keys the P775 Satellite Program - 11 p don't work

I recently Reinstalled Windows on my laptop due to Virus. As I did with mounting pilots saw that the Fn key and the keys don't work anymore. I was looking for the reason and discovered that some drivers would not install properly. Is it because I now have 32-bit instead of 64-bit?

Is there a version for 32 bit? And the pilot who is the Fn key and Softkeys?

    Ch S

    > And the pilot who is the Fn key and Softkeys?
You need to install additional package from Toshiba. This package contains several tools and utilities, and some of them are utility of Flash cards and Toshiba button support.

It can be problematic if you will not be able to find the 32-bit version.

  • Satellite L850 - special function key not working not properly

    Hello world

I had Satellite L850 bite of windows 8 64 (pskg8a-07f001) running for only 2 months.
Only within this week, the special function key does not work do not, whenever I start the pc, I have to go into toshiba assist office then the function key, and then click ok, it will work.

But the touchpad has been defined as licence also under keyboard setting was defined as special function mode. But don't know why every time you start the pc must go in the function key box, and then click ok.

When I bought everything is ok, I can use the special function key to turn, up and down the volume and disable wireless... etc.

    Please notify. Thks a lot!

    Have a look here:
Function key change to Satellite and Qosmio 800 series
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2903E00000R01.htm

You can use the traditional keys FN + F mode or just a F key mode.
This can be enabled and disabled in the BIOS or the HWSetup

In BIOS go to Advanced-> system-> the function mode button configuration
    This mode can be changed
Also remember that the function button is activated too

  • Function keys do not work on my Satellite C855 1GN

I have a Toshiba Satellite C855-1GN, I received as a gift for Christmas.

I just have it for all my college work, but I noticed my function keys changed round.
Usually when I hold the FN, is for the f1 to f12 keys but suddenly it's the other way around and that's what the key is for example (brightness, etc.).

Now it seems simple, but I found that not the case...

I was in the BIOS and I checked the settings and changed them several times, but still the value of special function parameters, it does not work.

I've been on the HWsetup and checked, but even once, even the special function value, it fails to work.
I tried various keyboard shortcuts suggested by people because the key fn is 'locked' or however they described, but still I can't understand what has happened and how to restore it.

I can't stand my laptop being that I just got used to it and use the other keys MUCH more than the F-keys.
    Please can someone help me?

  • Satellite A200 with enter key stuck

    Hi all.

I own a Satellite A200 laptop and I have a very strange problem. The Enter key is stuck. I tested it with no keyboard at all, but the key remains blocked. I also tested to disconnect the touch screen and the function keys but always enter key is stuck!

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

Do you also have it tested with new keyboard?

    I have a satellite Pro R50 - B preloaded with Win 7 Pro.
On the bottom row of the keyboard the second key to the left is a FN key.
Press and hold the FN button active the function keys on the top row.
I think that's how its supposed to work.
If you cannot use the function keys, it could be linked to the FN key.

  • Satellite A350-13 function keys a Windows 7 64 bit does not

    Hello
I upgraded my new laptop Vista Win7 64 bit, however the function keys do not work and the function keys that display at the top when you press FN doesn't show any more. I installed the utility and value added package but without success. Any help is apperciated.

    Note to the Toshiba team:
Why don't you pack all the necessary drivers and software in one package after their test, based on the model of the computer in my case Satellite A350-13, for example you could make a package for another Win7x64 to Win7x32, etc., instead of letting spend US days to understand what to install and where to find them and if it will work or not. Waiting for your comments.

    Concerning
    SAHM

    Hello

You must install the Flash Cards in addition to the VAP support utility!
The utility Flash card support are in the area of Satellite L500 driver for example.
After installation if Flash card support the utility unit is restarted once more and then check the functionality.

  • S50-B-15N issues satellite keyboard/Trackpad / function key - win 10 improvement

I bought a Satellite S50-B-15N a few months ago, who came with Windows 8.1 and decided to do the upgrade of Windows 10 about two months ago. Initially, the laptop worked well but in recent weeks, he had various issues with the keyboard, trackpad, and function keys.

Keyboard: Sometimes the laptop starts up and the keyboard detects no input. A few reboots solves the problem. If I hold the BACKSPACE key to delete several characters as a single character is deleted on one-click Rollback, I can't keep him down quickly delete several words.

Trackpad: The same for the keyboard sometimes at startup it works everything simply. I have to use the keyboard to access devices Manager where I must get back the driver trackpad for her to start working again at the next reboot.

Function keys: All the keys of the row from the top on the laptop (brightness, volume, stock selection, etc.) do not work. I am able to hold the "FN" key and select an F key, like F5, but other keys are completely insensitive.

I tried reading the forums for solutions and I went to the page of the driver of Toshiba and installed all the drivers for Windows 10 for my laptop, so far, nothing has worked. Is that what I can do to make the laptop works properly with Windows 10?

I have a similar problem. I had the same Toshiba model and bought in August. Not sure when the new driver will be released. If anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?

  • Satellite U920T - function keys does not work after update to Win 10

    Hello, good morning / evening...

I use (U920T satellite) and recently updated my Windows 10 Tablet
but after that, the function keys, volume, brightness, key FN and even the backlight does not work anymore!

I tried to restore the system and update the driver software but nothing has worked...

I use these keyboard shortcuts all the time and now it's really hard without them!

What is the problem? What should I do?

The problem is that U920T satellite is not listed as Win 10 support unit and, therefore, drivers earn 10 Toshiba and software that controls the FN keys is not released.
But as far as I know using the FN keys, system of Toshiba and the Support of Flash Card Utility driver must be installed.

For all Toshiba units win 10 supported, the drivers can be downloaded from this page:
    http://win10upgrade.Toshiba.com/swup...SPX?region=TEG

Maybe you can try the drivers released for other models of portable Win 10 supported...
I'm not sure if the software will be compatible with your model of U920T, but its certainly worth a try...

  • Satellite A300D - function keys no longer work

    Hello guys!

    I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite A300D - 13 - PSAK4E.
Given that I uninstall some programs of Toshiba, my function keys (stop, play, pause, silence, etc.)
    not work more.

I hope you can help me.

    Greetings of the Germany
    Jeane Wendy

    I agree with Akuma.
The VAP Toshiba offers a lot of features, and they have other Toshiba Utilities.
I have my laptop installed Satellite PPV and FN keys work.

Try with the latest version you can find on the Toshiba site:

  • Satellite C55-A5310 - special function key does not

I'm presenting the same report that I sent in support but repost it here in case where I do not get a useful solution.

Yesterday, I reset my Toshiba Satellite C55 A5310 (Part #PSCF6U-0EF066 Serial #9D362065Q). It was the factory reset, then had 10 Windows reinstalled automatically. After the reboot, my special function keys were set back from the normal function of F1 - 12 and didn't find any way to change. Toshiba parameters have been removed after the reboot (not my fault), so I searched in my BIOS settings, but don't found no available keyboard option, then reinstalled the possible necessary drivers to change their back (Toshiba Service Station and HW Setup). HW installation provided the ability to use any special functions or default settings Fn, but after choosing special keys, apply and ok - nothing has changed. I ran the program as an administrator and still no change.

Being only 16 years with only a basic understanding of the functions of the computer I please ask no simple solution not requiring any sort of 'hacking' or adjust the permissions (that made me in the first place) or editing the registry. I'm too scared to do it again and ruin all my laptop operating!

There should be a special function key setting in the BIOS.

Installation of HW is for Win7. Replaces the Toshiba system parameters, you need Toshiba system driver installed for it to work. It looks like you may have installed Win7/8 drivers/utils in Win10.

  • Satellite C50D-- Changed mode of function keys - can't change it back

I have a Toshiba Satellite C50D-A, with Windows 8.1 who bought earlier this year.

Recently, my function keys mode changed somehow and I can't seem to restore. When I bought the computer that the Fn button should NOT be pressed to use the special function keys (brightness, volume, etc.), however, now I have to press the Fn button to use all the special functions and since I have yet to use the F1 - F12 keys on a regular basis, it is quite unrealistic and all simply boring.

I've already stepped into the Toshiba system settings set the keyboard special purpose and gone back and forth between the two functions several times still nothing helps.

I return all system settings by default (as special function keys were my fault) and that didn't work either.

I'm sorry is very long, but I'm at my home and I would like to solve this problem as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance for all replies :)

    > now, I have to press the Fn button to use all the special functions

This means that the special function mode is disabled.
You can enable it in the BIOS or in the Toshiba System (HWSetup) settings

To access the BIOS, you will need to press F2 when starting the unit.

  • S50 satellite - B - 14 M - button and function keys switch F

So, I posted this a few days ago on plateau "Tools & Utilities", but did not answers, then maybe I should be more patient. But, since this forum seems to be a little more active, I thought I would try it here as well. Who knows, maybe some people with a Satellite S have experienced the same thing!

I looked for an answer on google and this forum for days, but were not able to find something useful (especially in combination with 'windows 10', I have no idea if install had no effect in the present).

I installed Windows 10 last week, and I don't know if it's the 'problem' at the start, but since yesterday I've been aware of the fact that the 'modus special function"F - keys (i.e. the function in which you don'thave to store the function key to access the special functions under the (former) F keys) no longer works.

    I have already tried:
    -My system restarts
-Control Panel > keyboard > function key modus (but which has been defined correctly!).
-Tried any combination of Fn with any other possible key.

So I don't know what the problem is. It might have something to do with the $ 10 Windows?

    Details:
    Toshiba Satellite S50 - B - 14 M
Pre-installed with Windows 8.1, upgraded to Windows 10 Home last Tuesday

Thanks to anyone who can help me!

I solved it myself! Turns out I just needed another obvious solution: reinstall the utility function of key driver.

    Well done!

Thanks for sharing the solution with us!
