Function of "-non-piste" involves cookies set by the web site?

The feature '-not-track ' Firefox 5 involves the use of cookies? In other words, websites that decide to honor the '-not-track ' will push a Firefox cookie that indicates my preference, for every time I visit this web site?

I ask this question because I use the management of cookies. For most websites, I put "Allow for session" cookies, but when I see a cookie named "Tracking" or "Metrics" I put these cookies 'decline '. Therefore, I wonder if my management of cookies is defeated at the intended function of the '-non-filiere ' imagined by Mozilla.

I mean, in simple terms how is '-non-piste ' supposed to work? How do I know if it works?

If this has already been explained elsewhere please direct me to this article/document.

Thank you.

Firefox sends a DNT = 1 response header to the server.

This is the server to decide what to do with this request.

  • How can I make sure that only the Web site that sets the cookie can read it?

I want some websites to be able to store cookies and use them, but I don't want other sites to use these same cookies.
I know how enable/allow per session/block and I have same cookie manage extensions.
What I can't find anywhere is information on who can read the cookies once they are defined.

Only website (server or domain) that sets a cookie can read this cookie, but it can be an iframe embedded with another domain that defines the so called third-party cookies.

    You can disable third-party cookies.

  • I've set up a Web site using the TNG software for genealogists. It seems fine in Chrome and Safari. It is different and not as good as in Firefox.

My new site Web search OK on Safari. On Firefox, the fonts look lighter and smaller. Underscore bars now appear thinner. How can I make Firefox display look more, as it should be and not on Safari?

    Thank you

The specified 12px font size seems not to be very large, so maybe this will increase a little in case a small font is used by Firefox.

What the police use Firefox on the page?

You just right-click and select "Inspect element" to open the Inspector (Firefox/tools > Web Developer) with the selected item.
You can check the font used for the text selected in the tab fonts in the right pane of the Inspector.

Just so you can check that you are not the page zoom.
Reset the zoom of page on pages that are causing problems.

    • View > Zoom > reset (Command + 0 (zero))

You're better off with almost nothing accept ZA and Kaspersky, both are absolutely the worst security editors to keep in touch with updates of Firefox this last year: everyone has had at least one add-on Firefox being several weeks or months of delay on the schedule of release of Firefox. It's almost as if they don't know week 18 of Firefox development process and they are waiting until their Firefox users complain of their shit doesn't work don't not with a version new version of Firefox, before even to think to do their updates. IMO, the smartest thing is to test the version of channel every night (first alpha stage 6 weeks) for compatibility issues once a week to see what problems may exist with their software, and once the new version hits the channel Aurora (2nd week alpha stage 6) begin to develop a plan calendar for what they should be fixed and begin to repair their stuff, while intensifying to test a little. Once the new version Beta 6 weeks channel hits they should be completed their corrections and expand their tests to include the combination of the Add - most popular add-ons used by Firefox users so that they can see all problem users could hit and fix what needs to be fixed before the release of the new version of Firefox.

Another thing these security vendors could do is some clients do their beta testing to find flaws and weak spots in their substance, as organizations open source like Mozilla done with Firefox. While I'm not a professional software, I have 3 different versions installed Nightly that I 'test' a little almost every day for simple things and the Aurora version, as well as the beta version. The last 6 or 7 years old, I found 3 or 4 pretty serious flaws that I have filed bug reports, of which one resulted in developers providing a warning much sterner on the risk of data loss and the other Bug reports helped developers by making them aware of a potential problem early enough in development that is was difficult to avoid the issue I pointed out to them with some minor coding changes.

Free or paid version, if these security companies will create and distribute a Firefox Add-on is the right thing to do to keep to date with Firefox, or they should just interrupt the add-on and we stop around jerks with their irresponsibility and their nonchalant attitude towards Firefox. Honestly, I miss the "good old days" when these security companies ignored Firefox and only support Internet Explorer.

I use Avira Personal Free - http://www.free-av.com/ - who does not feel the need to develop Add-ons for Firefox which really don't add anything to Firefox and only provide a 'bells and whistles' version of something that is already integrated into Firefox. Good solid anti-virus protection that is updated twice a day.

  • Cannot find or set up a web site

I use Firefox V 8.0. I can't do a search. When I type in a word or phrase and press search (or enter), nothing happens. No activity whatsoever. When I click on the home page, nothing happens. If a tab already has a site on it, then this site will go up, but nothing new can be put in place. Even by typing the exact name of the site, nothing happens. I use Explorer to send you this.
Note: I install AVG V 2012.0.1873 and Zone Alarm V 10.1.065.000 yesterday. Since I restarted, after installation of these problems, Firefox has not worked properly.
I'd appreciate any help. I don't really want to uninstall AVG or Zone Alarm because of the protection they offer. I used Norton, but my subscription has expired.

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.

    See:

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • Impossible to delete cookies for individual Web sites

    Turn Firefox 29 8.1 on windows 64-bit.

This arose because a particular Web site difficulties to set a cookie (I think) - FF gave the error that the site Web server was redirect the request in a way that could not be completed-, but with a warning that it could be caused by cookies are not allowed. So I tried to delete the cookie for this particular website, but FF seems not to comply. It is removed from the list of cookies in the dialog box and I can close the dialog box, but if I reopen it the cookie it shows always also present. Make a second time does not help.

I then found that this applies only to apply to a particular Web site, it is a Web site that stores a cookie. Cookies are set to be deleted when they expire that I find useful for some site store cookies (I can't find a white list that allows cookies deleted except those on the whitelist, this as opposed to the blacklist that prevent some websites from setting cookies at all).

    I tried the following:
    (1) open FF in safe mode, but I get the same result (cookie not deleted)
    (2) with closed FF rename cookies.sqlite to the road. Then begins with a 'clean' cookie file, I always get the same result (cookie is not deleted).
I can confirm that the cookie is not removed by quickly opening the cookies.sqlite and by searching for the string of the Web site.

I tried to adjust FF cookie 'political' to remove all at the end of the session and that works - but it eliminates also the most useful as well. Someone at - it ideas?

Note that your list of details of the system shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.

The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: open with) If you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

Delete a possible user.js file and files numbered prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all the prefs by default, including the prefs set via user.js and pref which is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:

    • Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
