funny sounds

I have a new HP Desktop Envy 700-215 X TD running Windows 7. When I first start the computer, I hear a noise of rotation for about 5 minutes and then the noise stops. I never had this problem on previous HP desktop computers. Is this normal or a manufacturing problem

When you start your PC or open applications, the PC is to use more power. More power, more heat. More heat means more rotation of the fan.  It's a good thing. Heat build-up can damage the components. The PCs are designed to get rid of the heat as soon as it starts.

It is more likely that you are a fan of hearing than the hard drive.  In addition, if you don't hear the hard drive, this does not mean that it is losing the balance. Some readers to make more noise than others, but this does not also mean that there is a problem. If the noise is constant (or grinding or knocking), then I'd be more interested.

The HD LED lights up and I'm stuck in the menu. I opened my laptop n watched the hardrive (tho not touched cos I didn't break!) n its not loose or anything... but now I can not get it started, I tried the recovery cd which I can sometimes get into tho it doesn't seem to work!

Please can soemone tell me how to solve this problem, preferabley without send it to Toshiba.

    Hi Paul,.

It seems that if your hard drive has failed. Check in your BIOS during the initial POST to see if the drive is correctly recognized.

You can try to restore the hard disk from the recovery CD (just boot from the recovery CD and follow the prompts on the screen) but this will erase all your personal data and programs that you can have installed and restore your laptop to its State.

If you still have problems then I think you need to replace the hard drive and reinstall your system.

  • Video Copilot Pro Scores sound library, etc. Pulse Motion or hearing

Looking for opinions and advice. Assuming that the price is not a factor (VC sounds stocks are a few hundred dollars) which recommends guys having like a library of sounds? Quality and real usability? Of course theres tons of sounds for free on the net, but I'd rather have a folder by hand on my local drive I want through sounds vs having to search through several sites. Thanks for all the recommendations or opinions.

I built my library over the years by using music, the sounds I recorded myself and sounds recorded on site for projects I have shot over the years bought. I use all of the music on the internet that does not come with the license agreement. So-called free sounds on the internet can bite you big time when it comes to distribution. You must have a clear title to all used in your project, if it's going to be distributed online or through distribution channels.

All my audio clips are all organized into folders by type. I bought only a summary. The compilation has been purchased for a series of videos I was producing requiring a bunch of funny sounds comic and the compilation was less expensive than buying the 50 or more popular that I needed for the project. I've only used one or two extra lanes in the 12 years since the initial purchase. That should tell you how I got really worth compiling. The other lot of the sfx, music and community I've saved over the years are used all the time. I have a door slam that I must have used a hundred times.

Here's another tip. I drag a USB adapter for my iPhone and a Blue Spark Digital usb microphone. It's in the car most of the time. If I hear something extraordinary, I catch the sound using RoDe Rec, a recording of IOS app. I want to take the stereo mic RoDe IXY because it is smaller. If a sound is really interesting and I do not have my spark with me, I get the sound even with just the phone. I used a bunch of these sound sequences in productions over the years.

    I hope this helps.

  • READ THIS | If your model 7200.11 Seagate Barracuda drive ST3500620AS has stopped working.

HP finally released a firmware update for Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drive (model affected ST3500620AS).

If your computer has been freezing, or if your hard drive is stopped suddenly appears in the BIOS (error BIOSHD-2), this update of the firmware could unbrick your drive and give you access to your data again.

    Find it here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en & cc = US & swItem = vc-681...

I'll try it tonight on my brick drive and will let you know how it goes.

    see you soon,

So, after a lot of grief, many hardships and moments of despair, I managed to do what any person HP support told me was impossible:

I have my drive unbricked AND recovered ALL my data!

How I did it, you might ask? First of all, let me tell you what happened before my happy time:

I did research on the problem of Seagate firmware since December and read a lot about the issues people were having as well as the causes of these problems. Looks like what this firmware bug is cause one of two problems: the drive appears in the BIOS but shows 0 capacity, or it does not appear in the BIOS at all. It seems that readers OEM, we have all in our TouchSmarts have been affeced by the emission of the latter (the hard drive is no longer appear).  This is because the disc stuck in a mode (BSY error google and you'll find the question) which does not allow him to respond to the rear. It is, indeed, forever busy.

As a result of this BSY error, I could not run the update of firmware HP newly posted for our Seagate drives. This is when the heartache began. After countless hours of research and digging, I came across the following forum, which became my Eldorado.

    http://www.MSFN.org/Board/index.php?showtopic=128807

If the link above is cleaned, simply search for the title of the publication: "The Solution for Seagate 7200.11 HDDs.

All this works this fine gentleman of the Chile, South America. I bought the pieces, he suggested, read the post to see if changes have been made and decided to try what he proposed in a final effort to save my data to ditch. The revised post is here:

Basically the tutorial you guide through the steps necessary to "hack" your hard drive management board and 'talk to her directly' via Hyper Terminal (I ended up using a data cable USB for my old mobile phone Siemens, however). It took me two goes into this area and a lot of patience and careful reading, but my drive came back to life!

Again, here's my details and questions for you in summary:

    Material:

    -HP TouchSmart IQ506

-Seagate Barracuda drive: 500 GB, ST3500620AS, model series 7200.11, HP version firmware HP24

    Description of the problem:

    -The drive just stopped working

-Started my PC and the player has is no longer appear in the BIOS

-Hard drive light was always on

-Hard drive made some funny sounds clicking

-The reader was not admissible for the new fix for the firmware (HP13 Rev A on February 6, 2009)

I hope this helps someone out there. If you need assistance, please contact me and I'll do my best to help!

    Best regards

EDIT: of course, after that I got access to the drive, I ran the new version of the firmware. You can get that here:

  • Satellite pro 6100 overheating

My 6100 is overheating I think cos it keeps freezing and restarting leaving me with my bios reset itself and RTC Check sum error. The laptop was sitting in a closet for a few months, so I think that the battery is low, but I can't leave the laptop on pretty long so that it recharges because it overheats and freezes. The laptop is running hot to the touch (below). He fan seems slow and stop for a while before you start and accelerate again (doesn't relate to the workload of the processor) I think the fan got dirty and is getting caught (makes a funny sound). I looked into the ventilation grille, but I do not see the fan and the grid is too thin for me to enter and clean... I can to the fan in the background? What would be the best course of action to take? (Am untangle extra external fan to blow under laptop, but this is only a temporary solution to the problem)...

    any ideas?

    Hi Frank,.

I suggest that you try sucking all dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner hose home on air intake grilles. This will remove any buildup in the heat sink.

Once you have done this power on the laptop and make sure the cooling fans running correctly and without making too much noise.

It is obviously difficult to diagnose problems with fans without being able to hear, but scraping, or clicking noises indicate a problem with the fans who should be studied. A high-pitched squeal noise indicates the shaft bearings dry and you may be able to spray a small amount of lubricant electric in fans to remedy.

If Notepad then stays on, leave it on for 15 to 24 hours (running of course) and let your CMOS battery recharge before to check/adjust your BIOS settings.

  • Satellite A30 was the subject of a cutting and does not start again

    Hello

In the past two months my Satellite phone has been 'cut' operating environment. It seemed to me that the cooling fans were constantly running at high speed and the air coming out of the (output) rear was warmer then normal.

I visually inspected the ports of entry at the bottom of the envelope and they do not appear to be blocked by dust or whatever it is. Yesterday, during 'Disc clean-up', he cuts and just wouldn't start again.

When I try to start the system, the following events happen: first, the "Toshiba" appears as always and then after a few seconds it replaces the logo 'loads Windows' as usual. Then after a few seconds it makes a funny 'click' sound, a blue screen appears for a split second and the system stops again.

My initial problem could have a overheating? If something has been permanently damaged now?

    I would appreciate any input!

    Hello

First of all, please give us more details about your model of laptop. It is always important.

    > After a few seconds, he made a funny sound "click", a blue screen appears for a split second
Looks like a malfunction of the drive HARD and do not overheating what do you think?

Have you tried to format the whole HARD drive and reinstall the OS from the restore CD? In my eyes, you should first check this possibility.

But as you probably know nothing is impossible in the word computer laptop and wide. ;) then maybe it s overheating in such a case, the laptop must be professionally checked by a qualified technician.

This happens on the plant as well as those burned discs.

What happens if you try to play outside of the WMC?

You are the very welcome, Jonathan.

dv5 is still not enough information to provide me with the service manual (in which case there is differerent for different dv5 models).

But here is the link to the service manual I've pulled at random.

Guess it's safe to say that all dv5 models come with the laptop SATA drives.

So, if you want to spring for $15, you can get this place that apparently has very good reviews.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817182138

From what you describe (noise and other things), I would say that you don't have much chance of recovering the data, but it's up to you if you want to try the speaker or not.

    Here's what I recommend:

Pull the hard drive and turn on the laptop.

If the weird noise you heard has disappeared, then you can pretty much assume that the disc was the cause and replacing the disk and reinstalling the operating system will solve the problem.

If the noise is still there, while there could be another problem, and it might be risky to throw good money after bad.

  • Photoshop using Non scratch discs?

I've noticed this for some time now. I have PS set to use my smaller SSD (Drive F) as my main and secondary scratch disk is the SSD is based on (C Drive/start). These are the two only "scratch disks" took me and other readers have empty compartments. Its pretty easy, fraid not.

Whenever I load PS it lasts longer that it should as it starts to turn up my HARD drive (drive D) that I keep my backups and music on. Why is this happening? I said PS which pushes them to use and rather than use the fastest SSD as I said, it goes and uses the wrong and slower and therefore I have to wait for the player to wake up before loading of the PS (HARD drive power off after 20 minutes, or something). It has been amplified to me earlier because I was running a check disk on the HARD disk that uses incorrectly PS and as the player was using PS does not open and gave me a nice error message until the audit has finished. So I had to twiddle my thumbs for 30 minutes because the PS clings to his fingers where they do not belong.

If someone else has had this problem and is there a fix. Maybe I'm not understanding something and PS uses each hard drive on my computer?

    Anyone can enlighten us please?

    Thank you.

There is never the files or the folders but 100% of the time when I started the drive PS would begin to turn.

I got a new HARD drive a couple of days where the late reply. I don't know if the question was some file or something else on my old drive D that I was overlooking. My old drive D has started to make funny sounds the same day I posted my question so I backed up and got a new. I can still hear when my new drive starts but it doesn't seem to do when I start now well PS.

Thanks for the reply JJMack. My new drive seems to have solved the problem. Still not sure why PS would be access to my old man at startup and not my new property. Weird

  • His bug CS5.5 & AIR 2.7.1 with small testcase.

    Hallo,

There is a serious bug in the 2.7.1 AIR. As published in another threat (I opened a new because of the importance and the unit test) with AIR 2.7.1 suddenly sound processing of sounds embeded in clips nested within the timeline run amok.

    It's the old threat:

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/891766?TSTART=0

    I coded a small testcase.

Please download the FLA for our server:

    http://apps.oetingerverlag.de/Soundbug_AIR_2.7.1.Fla.zip

There is a scene with a cover of book and a button.

If you press the button, an event is dispatched and a movieclip (the pig) is started and the pig makes noises piggish.

In the background, there is a small animation running, Beaver dips his foot into the water.

    CASE 1, AIR 2.7:

If you compile it with Flash Pro CS5.5 and AIR 2.7 (superimposed on 2.6, as described by Adobe http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/908/cpsid_90810.html ) all right:

If you do not push the button pork do not move and will not make a sound.

If you press the button, the pig is lively and makes a noise, after that the pig becomes silent.

    CASE 2, AIR 2.7.1:

If you compile air superimposed 2.7.1, after only a few seconds started pig noises, even if you do not click the button!

And with each loop of the main animation, another instance of the pig noise is started, wait, sort of funny sounds (well, it would be funny if it would not be a big problem for us now - we could not deploy our three Android-apps in the Android Market, it has only AIR 2.7.1 as runtime).

So: There is a big problem, and I think that some developers more will be affected by it.

    Any suggestions?

We could of course delete all sounds on a schedule and to start the sounds via actionscript 3, but we have three project and a lot of sounds...

    Implemented workaround:

    Case:

    (a) there is a main MovieClip with the background.

    (b) in the main MovieClip an another MovieClip is placed, with a lively and some pig audio noise piggish

The bug manifests itself, if you are using a sound configuration normal chronology like this (this is part of the mc nested with the animated pig):

Under 2 starts the sound on the timeline. With AIR 2.7.1 this leads to strange sound bugs, the sounds on the timeline are everything has started, the stop () - comand in the upper layer is ignored (but only for sound, the animation does not run automatically. It's really strange!).

    Workaround solution:

    (a) load the dirty sound through actionscript in the main MovieClip:

    var scene2SoundPig:Scene2SoundPig = new Scene2SoundPig();

Call the sound directly from the timeline, on the same position:

The code for this (in the blue rectangle marked) is:

    MovieClip (parent).scene2SoundPig.play ();

Now everything works as usual (as it does in point 2.7).

One thing to look out for:

The sound in the timeline also plays there are frames, it could for example be 5 seconds.

Workaround plays your sound FULL, for example 10 seconds.

So if your sound is a little longer than the portion that you played through the timeline, you must shorten the sound with for example of SoundBooth.

  • my laptop makes a funny crackling sound no matter what I'm listening to or what IM listening through!

I am running windows vista on an acer aspire 5715z and since I have just more than a year. About six months ago a funny crackling sound began to appear when I was listening to music or watching movies, no matter if I used the headphones, internal or external speakers.

Since then, I tried several things to solve the problem, including following all the steps that I got from another forum online.
I also sent acer and asking questions about what they think it might be. They replied, saying: it is very probably the sound card, but it might be the drivers, so I reinstalled audio drivers but that didn't work.
My last attempt at the question of setting was to buy a new USB card external sound only that has not solved the problem either!
