G62t-350 CTO Notebook PC: broken G62t - 350 CTO Notebook PC cooling fan

I have a 6 yr old G62t - 350 CTO Notebook PC and I am a VERY OLD non-techie. It overheats and goes dormant. I know that the fan is shot because I get an error message saying so. I currently use a "chill mat" to keep this baby running, but I would like to know how to take out and its difficulty. Also, you may need to buy a new fan (?) and, of course, HP (and even Best Buy) say 'we have NO PARTS. " Would be really grateful for the help; older people don't throw away their 'stuff' keep us running forever... If possible. Thank YOU, TimothyT,

A computer is fundamentally different from a model "T". They get obsolete and unusable, so that you can always push a model "T" around town if you can make it work. On a laptop six year, to go on the market of third party to find the parts, but they are available. Best Buy has no idea and no room. They send all repairs laptop for a place in TX and earn money as an intermediary for such things.

First thing you need is the repair:

Manual

"How-to" for the replacement of the fan is on p. 4-41 to 4-46. This will be a virtual "gut" of the laptop he stripping up to the motherboard and remove the motherboard. It can be done by an amateur who is able to read and follow directions and has a logical mind and memory to keep track of screws and where they are released, so they can be released. The drop-down strip isn't easy, but the real test is winding.

This is the part you need:

GL40 UMA systems (for models 1.1 and 1.2 only) 606573-001

How will I know? Your CPU is a Pentium Dual, which means that it works on the motherboard chipset low-end and it has "integrated" or "UMA" video However, I am fallible, and the intelligent way to go about the repair is to open and remove first and then buy the spare part based on what you already have. Saving a lot of feedback.

Assuming I'm located on the part you need here is:

You want to use this opportunity to eliminate there all the dust and when you go back you need to use good thermal paste applied correctly. We can find you a video well, no doubt.

Post back if you need help most.

  • HP Notebook 2000 cooling fan problem

Good, everyone. I had my laptop HP 2000 for a few years and I discovered my first major problem a few days ago, when the cooling fan has stopped working. I don't really bother me too much because I have a USB powered cooling fan which depends on my laptop, and it does a good job. My laptop everything on the same average level.

The biggest problem that I have is a few hours, the laptop turns off automatically because of this.

So, when I boot it upwards (turn on), it is a reminder that the cooling fan is not working and I have to press 'enter' or the laptop goes off in 15 seconds.

How can I make the laptop does not take into account the fan broken cooling? I don't want to spend the money to fix it because I can count on the USB-powered device.

    Thank you!

    ~ Mark

No, you can't. It stops probably precisely because it is time cpu peak on the threshold of security sometimes so he stops down to avoid damage.

Cooling of hp systems are not the best when working so the thermal stress on the cpu, gpu & mainboard will be bad & failure happen very quickly.

Fan is very cheap and can be done YOURSELF, if you have some skills to the dismantling of these sorts of things & guides following order to hp service manual & other online.

I expect a new fan & new thermal paste & calibration and cleaning would do wonders for the execution of time & the laptop's long-term health.

  • On Notebook P20 cooling fans

During my recent problems of Bluescreening, I noticed that the Middle fan (smaller than the other two) never seems to turn on?

Two main fans are running on and outside much but every time I look at the middle is yet?

Is that what this cut a range of different heat?

I tested the fan on a battery and it works fine

Would be - that my CPU is overheating and the casue of the bluescreen errors?

    Hello

In my opinion the blue screen error can be caused by many different things such as a hardware or software malfunction. If there is a risk that the processor can be overheated and damaged the unit turns off before that happens.

If the blue screen appears that there must be an error message. On the basis of this message, it may be possible to explain why it happens.

    Hello:

Because your model is a CTO model it does not give material specifications.

You need one of the two fan-heatsink for Intel based motherboards, found in Chapter 3 on page 29 of the owner's manual.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03591281.PDF

However, it is very easy to understand than you need...

If your laptop computer is the AMD / switchable graphics of Intel you need of this fan/heater:

For use only on the computer models equipped with an Intel processor and a graphics subsystem with discrete memory

    HP Part # 682061-001

If your laptop has Intel HD graphics card, you need the fan/radiator:

To be used on the computer models equipped with an Intel processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory

    Hello

If your stopped cooling module work then a cleaning won't help you.
A defective cooling module must be replaced.

The point is that you'd need a cooling module that has been designed especially for this series of laptop and these Toshiba laptop parts can be ordered only from the authorized Toshiba maintainer.

Therefore, you should not lose any time and you should contact the ASP, as soon as possible.

Overheating is a serious problem and you should not use the laptop until the cooling modules works again.

    Good bye

  • Pavilion HPE h8-1330z CTO: video card dying fan, tried to replace the card, the computer does not start

This Pavilion comes preinstalled with a nVidia GeForce GT 630 graphics card. The fan on the card goes bad - the card smells "burny" when I run, the fan works really hard and the computer crashes while playing graphics-heavy games.

I tried replacing a PNY Verto GeForce GT 730 2048 MB DDR3 card. But now, with the Verto installed, my flag starts, it crashes just on the HP splash screen. I can not start safe mode nor can I access the BIOS settings.

Care of the Verto seemed to think it would work in my Pavilion - PCIe 2.0, at least 300W PSU. I searched online for help but can't find a solution for my problem.

    Any tips?

I checked the support page for my Pavlillion and I noticed a updated driver for my computer's BIOS. I installed and it seems to have solved the problem.

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and the fan works not properly.

Try later in this document on an overheat could be at the origin of the fan not working do not or no longer work. If the laptop has dust on the fans, it might be overheating and noises.
