• Sidebar missing since the update to El Capitan ejection

  I understand this sounds like a minor problem, but it's actually quite boring.

  I've recently updated to El Capitan and since then the small button that appears on the right side of a hard drive external when you hove top of ejection is missing. I use four external hard drives every day, and it of a lot of your time to eject all of them to order, click on each of them...

  I tried to restart the Finder, reboot, etc., but the ejection will never be displayed!

  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Try the Finder preferences > sidebar and uncheck and then recheck "Drives" in the section "devices."

  I just bought a new laptop from Dell with Vista home premium 64-bit installed.  I am the only user of this laptop.  Since I bought it, I tried to run the weather gadget on the sidebar.  However, to get an error message "service not available". If I hover my mouse over the gadget, the error message - 'service not available for your language or region.  My notebook of woman with the 32 bit Vista weather gadget works fine...

  Thank you for visiting the Forums of Microsoft Vista.

  We have seen all sorts of questions surrounding the 3 ladies of part antivirus\spyware\malware.

  It is therefore very likely that Mcafee hinders the widget. We can think that it is malware any.

  My advice is to check the Mcafee Web site for more information on the weather gadget in the service.

  You can also try a clean boot and see what it allows to run.

  In my Sidebar Gadgets, my schedule is not a Virgin and never used to be.  I uninstalled an reinstalled and it is always empty.

• Win7 gadgets (sidebar) slow and intensive CPU lately, for no apparent reason

  In recent days, all my Win7 Gadgets react very slowly; The Process Explorer and Task Manager indicate that SIDEBAR. EXE is to eat about 10% of the 8 Virtual cores (4 physical) of my CPU i7, one of the nuclei between 0 and 100% just for this process. Among the consequences: fast battery drain and the unnecessary fan noise.

  So far I have tested the following workaround solutions, without success:

  • Out all the gadgets / reload one by one
  • kill the process from the sidebar / restart the Panel gadgets
  • Restart the PC
  • run with Avira AV disabled
  • run without internet access
  • run without connected devices (wireless, USB, etc...)
  • remove the settings.ini and cache in %localappdata%\microsoft\Windows Sidebar (suggested in other threads on such responses)

  I have a few third-party gadgets, each of them has worked perfectly so far (and none have been updated these last time).

  I can't think of any change in my system lately (software, drivers, etc.), which could have caused this.

  Murder sidebar.exe immediately pushes the CPU counters to zero. As soon as I open the Panel of gadgets or load any of the built-in gadgets one or a third party, the problem starts.

  Win7/64 SP1 and Avira Antivirus are completely up to date.

  BIOS and drivers are up-to-date (precision M4700)

  I received two of the same news feed lines for each item, so I uninstalled the gadget sidebar news feed and now I can't get any extra gadget to load in the sidebar selection box.  What I am doing wrong?  I need very specific instructions to follow.  Thank you.

  Logon as Admin - Start - type in the area of research-> COMMAND - find top - RIGHT CLIC on it-
  RUN AS ADMIN

  Replace C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar by copying and pasting this command->

  Press enter (this is assuming that your sidebar is on C:, otherwise use the letter of the drive is on)

  Then copy / paste each of them following their tour each come into

  Try to load this clock. Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - OPEN WITH
  Sidebar - then click on the + on the top in the middle of the sidebar to add it.

  You should get this clock because it has more features and consumes fewer resources than the default Sidebar clock.

• CANNOT ACCESS THE SIDEBAR GADGETS

  I just lost my gadget sidebar clock and calendar.  I am running windows 7 ultimate.  I right click on the sidebar and click gadgets, nothing opens.  I went into the Control Panel, try opening the desktop gadgets, nothing happens.  I tried to restore gadgets to which has been installed with windows, nothing happens.  the stock market weather gadget and gadget are always on display in the sidebar, but the gadget does not open.  I tried to enter the Gadgets on the start menu and typing of the gadgets in the search. Takes me for Panel configuration, but gadets only opens or restoration.

  ·        What happens when you try to open the Google desktop gadgets?

  I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.

   

  Step 1:

  a. press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on the keyboard to access the Task Manager.

  b. click the processes tab and end sidebar.exe that runs on the system by clicking the sidebar.exe process and pressing the end task button.

  Now open the gadgets on the system and check if the problem is resolved.

   

  Step 2:

  I suggest scan SFC (System File Checker) on the system and check if the problem is resolved. Follow the steps mentioned below.

  a. Click Start, click principally made programs, accessories, right-click on command prompt and select run as administrator.

  b. click on continue or provide administrator credentials if prompted.

  c. in the type in the following command prompt window and press ENTER:

  sfc/scannow

  d. you should see the following message on the screen:

  § Begin the analysis of the system. This process will take time.

  § Beginning verification phase of system scan.

  e. audit % complete.

  f. once the scan is complete, a test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved or not.

• Why my gadgets in the sidebar suddenly disappeared and cannot be reinstalled

  Without warning, and having not installed, all my gadgets sidebar disappeared!  I can't add them either!  All I get when trying to give me a little i in a circle in the upper left corner of the area where the gadget should be and the x to close the it and the part of gadget drag icon!

  MrFixit fails to solve the problem; Scans of SFC report no errors and Microsoft support is useless and unwilling to help!

  How can I restore my gadgets, ensure the same function, as expected, the load every time that I boot?

  The question

  The problem is that the sidebar first SAVE / OPEN Windows is missing from the list of favorites. Some people also report they are absent in the side bar of the Finder itself, but in my case, it was not the question.

  In some cases reboot temporarily seems to "solve" the problem, only to have it come back a little later.

  Some people have suggested to delete the Finder preferences plist file (~ / Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist). But people say it does not, correct or is it fixed only temporarily. Delete this file also kills all the Favorites from the Finder, which means he must recreate the list.

  I can hardly believe that a serious UI bug has occurred since the 10.11.0, which was released more than a year ago.

  This question seems to be fairly widely reported. There are many cases reported here on the Apple Forums, although I saw no meaningful discussion on the problem and permanent solutions.

  It is also fairly widely reported on other sites (blogs, etc.). Various solutions are available, but many people say these don't fix, or only very temporarily fix.

  As far as I know, this question was held for people in all versions of El Capitan, of 10.11.0 thanks 10.11.6 (the most common, from this announcement).

  This issue is fairly widely reported online. I searched through the Rapporteur of bugs and no results were returned, which seems hard to believe.

  Missing Finder instance handles dialogues open/save favorites.

  Often the sidebar is hidden. It can be restore to see, and then the Favorites are missing. People have reported this problem on line since 10.11.0

  Sometimes in the Finder itself in this case also.

  Steps to reproduce:

  Use registration opening of in any application.

  Sidebar missing all the favourites. Only the items that have been seen are DEVICES.

  Expected results:

  It should be a list of FAVORITES in the sidebar of all Windows Open/Save.

  Actual results:

  Sidebar is missing from the list of FAVORITES.

• Sidebar background color

  When I turned on my computer today gadgets sidebar (clock, calendar, weather, news, my security icons) appeared (right), but instead of being at the top of the desktop image, the bottom under the gadgets are like a transparent smoke gray. I can still see my image under the desktop gadgets, but it's under a see through film of gray. Hope that I have described this right, I can quite easily confuse people. If there is a way to copy & show you I would, I'm sorry.

• Malfunction of the calendar and stocks of gadgets

  Oepn an elevated command prompt.  To do
  then, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right clickguestand then click run as administrator.

  Type the following command and press ENTER:

  Regsvr32.exe
  VBScript.dll

  You should see the following message after running the command:

  DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll
  has succeeded.

  Out of the Windows Sidebar and re - open
  Once again. To exit Windows Sidebar, right-click on the Windows Sidebar
  Notification icon and choose exit.
  If this does not help, restart Windows and see if the calendar Gadgets make properly.
