I'm about to shake off the balcony of my Alienware 17 x R4. I have a computer game that won't play games and I can't find a way to make do. Whenever I start a game the screen turns black and the game is reduced in the taskbar and won't play no matter what I do. No error message not just an icon in the task bar and I can hear the audio of the game. I tried EVERYTHING I found in ALL the forums, I have visited and nothing works. Is not graphics cards is not the firewall is not the resolution settings, is not the compatibility settings, it is not game management applications, is not the games, is not material, so what causes this problem? I'm more frustrated by that. Please, someone tell me there is a PERMANENT solution to this problem. I'd hate to have to trade my beautiful machine for a Mac, but if it comes to that, I will. I need a computer, I can do everything on including playing games. This seems to be a Windows problem. I use Windows 7 Professional. I'm supposed to be relaxing between semesters at school and take advantage of my free time playing games but I lost 2 weeks trying to solve a seemingly irreparable problem and I have not yet played a single game! I have download games through Steam from Valve service and do since almost a year now. So far, games have managed very well, and even though I have your chart down parameters, but they are playable.

But now, every time I minimize or close a game, the computer runs for a few seconds and then shows me a white screen. The power light flashes and I can hear a high-pitched sound of the box on the charger cable. At the beginning I didn't see this as a problem because it only lasted about ten seconds each time and was taken to the 'locked user' screen where I could log in and continue.

Now the black screen can display up to five minutes in a period which can be really frustrating. The strange thing is that I can play for hours at a time without what is happening but as soon as I close or minimize the game it happens. This can happen even if the game has only run for a few seconds or so and I close it.

I don't know if it is overheating, but if I could get advice it certainly helps. Thank you!

Recently bought a game called the "Gundemonium Collection"(CD ROM). "» This came with three games, "Gundemonium Recollection, GundeadGne and Hitogata Happa". Out of these three games only GundeadGne works perfectly. The other two games lead receive me a black screen where I can still hear my cursor movement and confirm/exit command sounds, but no visuals are provided. The final result is based on the windows key, do a right click on the program and its closure.

Note: I tried to reinstall the game several times, screen resolution of setting, run the program in compatibility modes different, update drivers, install the latest version of DirectX and run the program in a minimized window. Pretty interesting when I reduce the program, the window is black, but I can move blue rectangle hollow (which I assume is a cursor) medium size when I do that I hear no noise at all, or if I can play the game.

More than likely if this started after you upgrade to Windows7 then you might have to update your hardware drivers. Go to the websites of the manufacturers of hardware for your PC and get all the latest drivers for Windows 7 (video, sound, chipset, etc...). If they don't have Windows 7 drivers you may have questions until they create them. You can also try to boot your PC and also right click on the game .exe file and change the compatibility mode to Vista or XP.

Jerky/black screen during games

All my games are going to a black screen and hangs during games, sometimes they just becomes extremely agitated, but always very unplayable. I've tried everything. Disabling/uninstalling my antivirus. Reinstall the games only for Windows 7 in compatibility mode. I also started by selecting only the Microsoft Drivers and still nothing.

Any help will be amazing. I like all the other parts of windows 7... I don't want to go back to Windows Vista...

Did update you your video driver from the manufacturer website PC or video chipset manufacturer website?
