GeForce GT 640

I have a HPE 510 t, #ABA P/NXX093AV and would like to upgrade from the original GT 405 EGVA GeForce 640 GT or a HD 7750.  I have improved the PS to 600W.   Or of these Board models have a compatibility problem or both are acceptable?  I just want to spend $90 - $110 for the upgrade and will be done mainly photoediting and slideshow editing, nothing but heavy in games.  Appreciate your support.

Hello

I don't see a problem using the NVIDIA 6xx series video cards that are spec'd to work with a 600 Watt power supply.

Check out this Guide to selection of a discrete video card.

The NVIDIA 650 will work better than the AMD 7750.

I have a Phoenix office (i7-4770 CPU @ 3.4 GHZ, 16 GB RAM) with video card GeForce GT 640 installed at the factory.  My main monitor is an HP 2310 m connected via DVI - D.

I would like to reuse an old monitor VGA (HP 2009 m) as the second screen.  The card doesn't have any VGA connector.

When I replace the monitors (using a DVI - D VGA adapter) everything works.

When I use the m 2009 as the second monitor (using a HDMI VGA adapter), not of works.  Turns off the 2310 m on conector of DVI - D and the m in 2009 on the HDMI connector (via a VGA-HDMI adapter) signals a resolution problem and a video cable problem.  Disconnect the 2009 m restores the functioning of the 2310 m.  I have a VGA monitor still more old that does the same thing.  I have, of course, that the problem is not with the VGA screens.

Solutions possible and adivce greatly appreciated.

    Rex Avery

    Hi Rex,

DVI - D is strictly digital and a VGA adapter right is not going to work. Review this information. Describe the HP OEM NVIDIA 640 video output ports, or post a photo of the video output ports.  The 640 GT should have following video output ports: DVI - I, VGA and HDMI.

You must use a native DVI cable to connect the HP 2009 m that supports the DVD-D.

HP 2310 m has video input HDMI, DVI - D and VGA ports.  Use a native HDMI cable.

If you notice, I've recommended using cables DVI and HDMI native, who will produce the best quality for your monitors.

Refer to the HP information below.

    MSI NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 4 GB 128 - Bit DDR3

A - diddy, welcome to the forum.

If it's the video card you want to buy, I do not think that it will work with the existing 300W PSU.  It has an additional power connector which means that it requires more than the 75W provided by PCIe slot to work properly.  The specs say that it consumes only 45W.  I don't know why they have an extra power connector.  Your current diet doesn't have the necessary cable to the connector.

I suggest you call the after-sales Service of the manufacturer to find out the requirements are correct.

  • Will be my CPU bottleneck a GeForce GT 640?

I plan on upgrading to a Geforce GT 640, as the main video card of my computer for gaming, but I still don't know if my processor is strong enough for the job. I have an Intel Pentium G630 @ 2.7 ghz, 6 GB of ram and a 1.5 TB hard drive.

Yes, a GT640 would certainly improve more Intel HD1000 and a great help to the gameplay.

Whether you use the GT640 (1 GB) or the GTX750, it is desirable that your power of 300W for a good quality

model with minimum 20Amps (about 240W), or more information on the + 12 rail.

As a very general comparison between these gpu.

    Scores of the pass mark:

    HD4000 = 465 (found no numbers for the HD1000).

    GT640 = 1287

750ti GTX = 3660 - (GTX = 750 would probably close the same score, if she had 2 GB of VRAM,

"but I don't see not listed).

-GTA4 is reputed to be a bad console on the PC port. It of an intense game of cpu and can use just

beyond 1 GB of VRAM, for example, if the settings are all on max.

Note that it is also possible for a game to add to the CPU load, if the gpu is not held.

The aliasing is pretty bad in GTA4, but allowing the FXAA in Nvidia Control Panel is a big help.

  • Help the update driver GeForce 640 M

    Hello

I use an iMac (21.5 inch, at the end of 2012) and I have a question for the graphics card, an NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M 512 MB.

For awhile now this iMac is has been rotating more slowly than anticipated, especially with some games. I regularly install software updates, but I was wondering what I need to also install the updates for the graphics card too? After reviewing the NVIDIA site it seems that drivers are available since June this year. However, it does not list any Mac OS among the available download types. There are different versions of windows, 32-bit Linux, 32-bit ARM and Linux 64-bit linux.

So I let him or should I download an NVIDIA driver? If so, which?

    Thank you!

Mike, welcome to the forum.  Great computer.  As you can see in my signature, I have a Phoenix 810-135qe.  I upgraded to an SSD of 840 to EVO from Samsung which has significantly increased performance.

Here is a video card that works in your computer.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.

The 760 GTX is 9.5 "in length.  I am not sure that it would install in the space provided.

  • the NVIDIA geforce driver update

I just tried to update the drivers for my card through the Device Manager.  He told me that my drivers are up to date.  I checked the manufacturer's website and immediately located the drivers updated for my card.  I installed the Nvidia driver detection software to make sure it never happens again.

My concern is that I don't know if it's a problem of Nvidia or if it's a matter of Windows.  Does anyone else have this problem?

    Dell XPS 8500
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640

    Hello

When you go into devices and right click on Device Manager and update driver there, what he's doing runs directly through Windows Update (which is NOT the latest version of the driver for this device).

If you are looking to update your device drivers, always go the manufacturer's website, like you did.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P850 - 31L - can't play game Hitman Absolution

I tried to get Hitman Absolution working on my p850 - 31L with the 640 m from nVidia.
I read a lot of topics about how updates to laptop not supported due to "problems of heating" which seems ridiculous, the game works very well until it crashes (can be within1min - 1 h).

I recently bought this laptop & had with a dedicated nVidia GeForce GT 640 m map precisely to avoid this manufacturer cross!

Tweaking not updated to point out the cards their overheating is very good, but I expect at least be updated to be compatible with the latest version of the software! The latest drivers are from last year?

Why have a nVidia card & a laptop able to play the latest games if out-of-date drivers make it impossible to play?

If this problem can be resolved or I'm looking for a suitable replacement where I bought my laptop?

Of my knowledge Toshiba display drivers are modified for mobile use.
Other manufacturers of graphics card drivers do not support protection against binge GPU.

This means that using this driver allows the GPU to operate with higher performance but the heat dissipation would be too high and this causes a high temperature, GPU, resulting in overheating.

As far as I know other manufacturers of portable don t care about this risk and allows the use of these drivers

  • Satellite P850 - 31L think driver Intel HD GPU is old after Win 8.1 upgrade

    Hello

I got my Satellite P850 - 31L since last year and recently updated to windows 8.1.

This laptop has a NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640 M graphics card and this allows to say that about my dxdiag.
Since the update to windows 8.1 my laptop seems to think that I have an Intel HD Graphics 4000 and apparently it's expired.

When I go to their website to test the update.
I thought that my graphics card is "up-to-date", but everything else - including my driver toshiba manager says it's expired.

I tried to update but I get a message saying my system setting are not good enough.

Anyne have any suggestions on what I can do.
Can I get my laptop to stop thinking that there a graphics card intel when it has the NVIDEA chip

    > defterniko

After upgrade Windows 8.1 you should visit the page of the Toshiba UE driver and should update drivers and utilities to version 8.1 of Windows.

Most people forget to do that they update the system of Windows 8 to 8.1 win but don't update the drivers.

As mentioned by user IronMan; the installation instructions located on the page of the Toshiba UE driver you shows the pilot and the tool that needs to be updated and you must also follow the order of installation referred to in this directive.

    JoBla, welcome to the forum.

It is becoming increasingly difficult to ensure that the latest components will work in an old computer.  Your computer is almost 3 years old.  My suggestion is to choose the SSD and the video card you want to buy and contact the Technical Support of the manufacturer to determine if it will work with your computer.  They are the experts on their products.  This will save you the possibility to pay for the return of one of them.  That's what I did and it works fine.

I can recommend a PSU 600W (PSU), however.  I love Corsair products.  Here is a very good power supply.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about it.  There is a modular version of it, too.  The modular power supply is good for medium-sized cases.  It allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.  Which makes for airflow and better cable management.

  • Video update for my P7 - 1380t

    Hello

I just purchased a P7 - 1380t and it was not an option for updating my video card.

I was wondering what video (DIRECTX.11) card will work in this testbed?

    2.0x16 PCIe

    EXPERTS?

    Thank you

    Joe

    Here are the specifications and configurable options for your desktop HP Pavilion p7 - 1380t CTO. According to specifications, graphic selections optionally include the following;

Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD graphics integrated (default)

    GeForce GT 530 (2 GB)

    GeForce GT 620 (1 GB)

    GeForce GT 630 (2 GB)

    GeForce GT 640 (3 GB)

    Radeon HD 7350 (512 MB)

    Radeon HD 7450 (1 GB)

    Radeon HD 7570 (2 GB)

The cards you get when ordered with your computer HP are manufactured units of reduced power. Commercial versions of these same cards can (very probably will be) require a power greater than the power of 300 watts supplied with your computer.

    To sum up;

    (1) If you buy one of these cards to HP, they will work without problem.

    (2) If you buy a commercial version of one of these cards, you may need to upgrade your power supply.

    (3) If you purchase any card retail more energy than the models above, you will need to upgrade your power supply.

    Please send Bravo
