Get error "closing Windows to prevent... ", it is related to the addons

Original title: Windows shut down.

Very frequently, a dialog box appears saying that Windows stops to prevent - associated with addons. How to reduce the frequency and/or identify the and remove the addon.

Gus Robillard

Thanks for the help, but the problem seems to have been resolved when I noticed I had pinned the 32 bit IE to the taskbar instead of the 64-bit version. Once I have this marking the 32 and used the 64, problem disappeared. Hope this helps others.

  • Error message "Windows can't open add printer." The local print spooler service is not running. Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "while trying to add printers in Windows 7

Original title: my laptop has lost all printers and windows & no longer recognizes them. Help! I can't print anything

I use my laptop computer in a docking station.  I took it out to take for a trip and when I got home I plugged it back (as I always do).  Just before the trip, I have upgraded to Windows 7 and all my printers were working very well.  When I got home and pluged again, Windows does not recognize one of my printers.  When I try to add printers a say8ing error message "Windows can't open add printer."  The local print spooler service is not running.  Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "I tried to restart and turn off the printer, etc.  Can someone help me?

    Hi RobynGP,

This may occur if the print spooler requires other services, and these services are not running. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. in Services, right-click on print spooler and then click Properties.

    2. click the Dependencies tab. The first box list all system services that must work for the print spooler start. These are dependencies.

3 make a note of each service, click OK, and restart each service on which the print spooler is dependent, if the service is not already started. If a service is not started, right-click, click Properties, and then make sure that the startup type is automatic.

Since the update of security Windows KB2536276 has been loaded on Windows XP SP3 PC on our network of customers, they

could not map network drives to unix SCO SMB servers 'Samba' software file sharing.  When they run the DOS command

The problem cannot be resolved by deleting the KB2536276 update, restart the PC and then the command net view runs correctly.

We need either this patch to be fixed and re-issued or have a method of prevention the patch re-loading

    See

It is a bug in Samba. You can find a patch under

Please be aware that this only occurs if you use plain text passwords which are strongly not recommended for ages in Samba.

    Hey David C86

following link shows that it is a nvidia file

    http://www.pcpitstop.com/libraries/process/i/nvvsvc.exe.html

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer'shardware be listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista .
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If that does not read this information

the link below has the way to download with a vista disk startup repair that you can boot from if you do not have a microsoft dvd vista

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Here's how to use startup repair system restore command prompt, etc. to bleepingcomputers link below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

  • Unable to set up account, get error in Windows Fax and Scan

I have Windows 7 Home Premium installed, update of Vista home Premium. I've never used the Windows Fax and Scan until today. When I went to set up a Fax account this error in popup:

An error has occurred. Try the operation again later or contact your administrator.

I am the only user & administrator of this PC.

I saw a post on the forum Vista, I tried but still have not been able to solve this problem. Help, please.

    Hello

I tried the suggested method of deletion of registry keys, but it doesn't work on my laptop Win 7 Prof 32 bit with the built-in fax modem.

The fax service works only when I connect the the domain administrator account, even if I put my user account in domain with administrator rights. Before my network has been migrated to Win 2003 Server Win 2008 Server, the fax service worked very well for my domain user account, then the problem could be due to a setting in group policy by default under Win 2008 Server?

Looking forward to responses. Thank you.

Managed to solve today after I do a right-click on WFS, go into properties, Security tab, button "Advanced", then "Change permissions" for my special user for total control account. Open WFS again and click new fax to set up a new Fax account and all went well.
