get the message "unknown problem" going to Express update on Win Xp Sp3

Win XP SP3 on this computer. Have even on another computer that works to get updates.  Problem will express the update or custom and get the message 'the site has encountered an unknown problem then pours me. Reasons has looked up in the FAQ, but none apply here.

Rebooted computer and no change.
