• VMnet bridge cannot not labeled past 1500 byte frames (1504 bytes with tag) - is there a solution?

  I set up a Windows 7 with VMware Workstation 10 host.  I am running 3 guests: 2 Linux and Windows XP 1.  These individuals are bound by local network segments.  A Linux host (let's call it 'A') brudges network interface 1 to an Ethernet USB adapter attached to the host.

  The other invited Linux (let's call it 'B') bridges 4 network interfaces on the host of Win 7.  I do this Setup VLAN b (eth2.30, eth2.60, eth2.29, eth2.220) and bypass eth2 interface integrated on the host of Win 7.  I had to create a registry entry "MonitorMode" (http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-005897.htm) on the Windows 7 host in order to move the frames marked between the guest and the outside world (Win 7 strips incoming tags by default).  NIC integrated on the Win 7 host is connected to a Cisco switch as a 802. 1 q trunk.  Other hosts are connected to the switch via these VLANs on the trunk.  Applications on these hosts communicate with guests on the host of Win 7 on the VLAN, it is necessary.

  It works fine until I have try to get through the VMnet bridge frames that have an MTU greater than 1496.  These frameworks are interrupted whehter they are incoming or outgoing.  I suspect that the reason is an acceptable framework normally 1500 bytes is, when the tag, 1504 bytes and is therefore stripped on the VMNet bridge.  I tried to adjust the MTU on the NIC host and eth2 comments to 1496 and 1504.  No effect, as I expected.  Packet Capture one side of the bridge as these large frames MTU vmnet show are ignored at the bridge.

  I have control over some of the external systems (and of course all the guests) and I adjusted the MTU on these systems at 1496 bytes.  This works very well for these systems.  But for traffic from external guests that I can't change it, 1500 (1504 with tag) frames is ignored at the vmnet bridge.

  I have read that I need jumbo frames support so that it works.  I found documentation indicating extended frames are not supported in workstation 7.  I guess that has not changed in 10 WS.

  I tried an alternative approach: Create VLANs on the host of Win 7 using Intel PROset, remove the VLAN eth2 the Linux prompt and instead create multiple virtual NICs (eth2, 3, 4, 5) and fill each virtual NETWORK adapter to a host of Win 7 VLAN.  Although VMWare network Editor allows me to create these bridges, I can't pass any traffic through them regardless of the MTU.

  So, my questions:

  (1) are extended frames supported in 10 Workstation?  If so, how can I activate them?

  (2) I would be able to bridge a guest virtual NETWORK adapter to a VIRTUAL host LAN interface?

  (3) is there another way to do this?

  The other approach, I described in the previous post (creation of VLANs on the host of Win 7 using Intel PROset, remove the VLAN eth2 the Linux prompt and instead create multiple virtual NICs (eth2, 3, 4, 5) and fill each virtual NETWORK adapter to a host of Win 7 VLAN) works if I REMOVE the setting of registry MonitorMode I also described in the previous post.

  Wireshark showed that with the Win 7 host VLAN enabled and the value of MonitorMode tags VLAN were being stripped.  Eliminating MonitorMode allows the NIC to tag/UNTAG as needed by the configuration of VLAN PROset.  Since the frames are not marked as they are bridge to/from the comments, all the interfaces of my spend management full size in both feel.

  (1) DC are objects of entity, not unalterable view objects...
  (2) you did drag Input text within the shape of the ADF
  (3) try drag DC as an ADF with an Insert-create form and delete button

  Argh, you can still see that the single line in my script that I did not test, the Export-CSV cmdlet, gives you bad. The following script, I tried from the beginning to the end and gives even better output:

  Not likely to have, you're doing a "happy dance" but a scanned image is "the ear of the sow" and (Yes, I'll say).

  You can't have a scholarship of silk in one ear of the sow.

  Make you a picture of the text content. You get a result of OCR of all that is recognized. The character by character recognition accuracy is generally quite good. But - No image/photo file actually holds information on format, layout, fonts, etc. - it's just a picture. Acrobat OCR makes some assumptions about all this.

  -You have a bunch of each of the characters being exported to Word. Individual characters, not paragraphs, sentences no, no words, no values "white space", etc.

  So you get an export that is a "best estimate" of the less desirable source. Sometimes, it isn't so bad. Sometimes it's just awful. In all cases, you will need to do some cleanup of the exported content that landed in the Word file.

  The alternative is to transcribe the hardcopy to the Word file.
  In fact it can often be higher as a workflow rather than the scanning-ocr-export-cleanup shuffle

  For really nice export "spot - we ', you must start with a PDF file from an application of creation (not a scanned image) which is a well-formed tag PDF (for example ISO 14289-1, PDF/UA-1).

• How to get started with vmware in the SMB

  I read through this forum to help me understand more about vmware. I think that I have only a very basic understanding of vmware, so ask your recommendations for the project, I'm about to start.

  We are a company SMB with 3 offices in 3 places. We are about to implement a new software which runs on separate SQL 2005 servers in all 3 offices.

  I intend to provide all 3 offices with a similar configuration and have the servers SQL replicated during the night.

  The necessary servers are SQL server, file server and license server.

  The material I've been watching is DELL R710 or PE2950III PE. The number of people using the software would be about 5 to 6 for each office.

  Now, my goal is to move finally all our servers in a virtual machine, but to keep it simple for now, let me just start with what it takes for my project.

  My plan is to buy 1 server for each office and make them run 2 VMs each (SQL, Server license). With respect to the file server, I could use the local storage of the physical server.

  I am aware that this configuration will give me any redundancy in the case of a material error in the physical machine, but I'm hoping to expand my setup with the budget for the next fiscal year and buy the redundant servers.

  So I'm trying to get to the top and now works with spending too much on the material, but I still want to be able to move to a business solution from vmware that allows me to move VM is 1 physical machine to another, etc..

  I wonder now, what software to use for my project. I've been mainly reading on ESX and ESXi. I was looking at the license to the Foundation, but not sure that ESXi makes much sense at all if I have my VMs on 1 physical computer only.

  Then the VMware Server would be a better solution for me? If I decide to VMWare Server, can I still upgrade ESXi later?

  If I go with ESXi, I understand that I can have embedded it or installed. I guess that I can't use the local file storage when using the embedded version of ESXi?

  If I install ESXi, however, I have to start in Win Server 2003 or 2008 first that requires a separate license again and then install ESXi on its own partition on a Raid1 array. I would then use a Raid 5 for all virtual machines.

  Also with ESXi, would I be able to upgrade to a later version of ESXi with my setup? I guess that all the virtual machines must be stopped for an upgrade to ESXi?

  Yes, this seems a sensible approach. As you are new to do this of course, you understand the different options of ESX here because it can be a little confusing to start. Going with Vmware server path would be much more disruptive in the future that you will suffer more downtime to make the change. Just to be clear, VMware Server is one where we have an application that runs on Windows (or Linux) to provide the functionality of virtualization. ESX or otherwise runs directly on the hardware.

  ESXi free edition, this may be an option for you initially, but you can not manage it with vCenter. You must use the VI Client directly to each box, failed to get the enterprise as vmotion etc features. With a single server, initially, this could be a good starting point.

  With paid for ESX you will have many other options, note the ESX layer features are essentially the same although we allow them just allows you to add the other stuff by taking the commercial offer.

  At this point it is assumed that you have vCenter somehow, so you will need a Windows Server to the host which can be a virtual machine if you want. If you started with the edition free is simply a matter of connection of the device of vCenter for ESXi nodes and they get activated with the management features - no downtime is necessary.

  Then you have 2 choices for ESXi

  (1) install on HDD or USB

  (2) buy what it come pre-installed with your server.

  The question is then what edition you purchase. We have some packages SMB has been called Essentials or Essentials more, but they are limited to a maximum of three servers altogether, it would be ok for you in you're first scenario but if you then want to make each site two nodes, so you'd not nowhere to go, a nd currently is not a licensing mechanism to upgrade , that's why I suggest you seriously consider 'Standard '.

  I have a guess on why it has stopped working. Firefox 40 has some changes to how extensions can work with the user interface, so quite a few extensions that have been more than one year must be updated for Firefox 40. It has been updated on January 10, 2012.

  Anyway, the way of 'long' to display the passwords saved in Firefox is through the Options page, the Security Panel, the saved passwords button.

  You should take a look at the Knowledge Base How to set the home pagearticle.

  There are the steps in this article to reset your preferences on the default home page. I would try everything first to clear all strangeness. If it works, you can try to set your homepage again to your personal preferences.

  I found the fix for it.

  About: config, filter for 'Start '

  Ones you want to should appear at the bottom.

  Startup.homepage_override_url and startup.homepage_welcome_url

  Double-click on each one and delete the text string. Close and reopen the window to check that it worked.

  As I deleted them both at the same time, I'm not sure who was the culprit. So, I suggest starting by striking first and tests before deleting this one.
