Gif files in Captivate
I created a GIF file, in Photoshop I want to use my captivate file.
The file will not preview in the preview modes other than the preview release of HTML5. All surveys you just show the first frame of the GIF file.
If I chose to EXCHANGE the animation with an another GIF library preview shows the animation playing... See attachment
Is there something im doing wrong here.
I guess I could download it my final file of the LMS with HTML5 exit this overview shows the animation, but I also read that there are limits to this output as some transitions / effects do not work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Darren
Hi Darren,
Yes, you can check if your GIF would be fucntion properly on the HTML5 platform by window - HTML5 Tracker Pod.
I'm not an expert on Photoshop, but still would like to make a recommendation.
Set value the 'delay' for each of your frame to 0.01 or a value if it shows as 0, this can be done using the animation image window. Re-save the GIF format for Web devices and import into Captivate, see, if you're abale to preview at this time.
Thank you

Why can't I insert swf files in captivate 9
Hi guys
Appreciate any help - can someone give me
All the advice says that everything I do to insert swf animations is to go to insert - animation and then I can add swf files, but the only option I gave is GIF files. This changed in captivate 9 or I do something wrong?
Reactive projects may be published only in HTML format. No mobile device not playing Flash, which is also valid for the inserted sovereign funds.

Background BMP GIF file images makes more?
In an effort to reduce the size of my Captivate file
1. I copied eleven background images in a film Captivate 4 and convert the BMP to GIF using Adobe Photoshop Elements files.
2. I then updated the backgrounds of appropriate slides (fifteen of them), replacing the files with the new files GIF BMP.
3. I have seen in the library base BMP files had been replaced by the GIF files. (The file size of each BMP background image was about 1200 KB, replaced by a background GIF image that is about 35 KB.)
4. I tried to select unused items in the library; There are not.
5. I registered the Captivate file and published it as a SWF, compressed.
To my surprise, the file Captivate with background GIF images was a little bigger. Shouldn't it made a huge difference in the size of the Captivate movie file? It should have been MUCH smaller. I have jump a milestone?
Kirsten
Hello and welcome to the forum,
When published Captivate will be compress the background images, the size you see in the library is much larger than the image size after compression. Did you compress the size of the file yourself by editing and changing to GIF (would never do that myself because the GIF format is limited to 256 colors, there is never more than 8 bits). But probably there are not a lot of possibility to the left of compression, which means that your published SWF file would be larger in size. I try to explain that your compression is less effective than the automatic compression performed by CP himself. Leaving sets original you will also choose a slide for each individual slide quality: default value is low 8 bits which is OK if you don't have any images of high quality and lead to the smaller file size. To the slides that are in need of a better quality, you can choose one of the 3 best options. I do not use Photoshop Elements myself, but Photoshop and do not know how many colors you kept for the GIF? I suspect you could have maybe a bit more small size if you try to reduce the number of colors where possible.
Just a tip: PNG is a much better compression than GIF (and JPEG) graphic file format.

How can I get thunderbird to send incoming gif files in google chrome?
The default value for the treatment of incoming gif files is to send to Microsoft Internet Explorer. I don't use IE, but I use Google Chrome. However there is no option for sending incoming gif files to Google Chrome in the popup of the use of other, and I can't determine where Google Chrome is so I can not find in when I press Browse.
A gif file is an image file, so you can assign just opened using software such as Windows Photo Gallery, but it doesn't show a gif image. If the gif comes alive then it will show as busy. Then, Mrs. try to force you to use IE because I believe that if you have Win7 or 8, MS has not provided one of the oldest example: vista programs to see "animated gifs" (I don't have these BONES, so if I'm wrong... Sorry)
You can download and use this program:
http://www.IrfanView.com/If you really want to use a browser to do this instead:
Try browsing for it under:
C: / users > username > Appdata > Local > Google > Chrome > Application > chrome.exe -
An animated (gif) file can be inserted into an email, or must it be attached?
An animated gif file can be inserted into an e-mail? It's something that worked when I was using Outlook 2003, but does not work in Outlook 2010. Thunderbird allows a fully animated gif file in an email, or only as an attachment >
It is animated by the recipient; Save as draft or see envoys.

Having a problem correctly interpret characters file GIF of an instrument. Any ideas on correctly interpret a gif of an instrument. I'm stuck with the format of its supporting the instrument.
It seems that MS Windows platform, interpretation of GIF characters, such as \s, \0, \FF, text of labview control differs from the Agilent E4404B Spec one. I have no problem pick the file, but the characters are modified (interpreted) whenever I use a labview text box (i.e. a control ascii string, I really need a control character, or some work around).
Attached, it's a good GIF of the instrument and any bad GIF.
Someone created a vi called VISA read binary block of data to file to save the GIF file. Here's a modified version, I have use to save a screenshot of an E4440A Analyzer spaectrum.

Why my Windows Photo Gallery can't animate GIF files saved?
I have a lot of saved GIF images which have BEEN lively on the website, saved as gif, but when I opened them, they act like JPEG files. They do not move at all and just stay on the first frame of the animation. On my mums laptop, Windows Photo Gallery DO plays GIF files.
I use Windows Vista Home Basic, and laptop my mother is simply Windows Vista. I can only see my GIF files using Quicktime Movie Player and I have to Lop each time. Kind of pain when I would rather walk through the collection with the ease of the Windows Photo Gallery.
Any ideas?
They must be read in a browser.

Hellotoddnnelson,
Thank you for your response. You try to perform a restore of the system to a date when the issue occurred and then check the issue. To do this, please see the link below.
In addition, you can check the program used to open the file and also set a default program to open the file. To do this, right-click on the file, and then click Open with. Then click on the default program choose and then choose the program you want to use as the default program to open the file.
In addition, you can contact the source of the file to verify that the file can be considered to be a file is downloaded as well.
Thank you

Can not work with GIF files.
Hello.
I don't know how many people he has had this problem. I can't move, copy, extract, compress, delete the GIF files; It would take like time forever.A couple of days, I tried to compress some of my files including GIFs. And whenever the progress bar would be stuck on some GIF files; and even after 5 ~ 10 minutes would not go further. So I had to cancel the process.
Still a few applications using GIFs for UI load; and also Internet Explorer would freeze for more than 10 minutes on a single page.
I did disk cleaning, rebooted, but no use.
So I booted in Safe Mode; and guess what, I could do whatever I wanted with GIF files.
This means that there is something in normal mode, which is not in Mode without failure causing the problem. Obvious cause can be the anti-virus. In my case, I have 2, Microsoft Security Essentials & Quick Heal.
So I asked what I did in those days. UPDATE by using Windows Update.
Yes, there was more than 5 updates for Microsoft Security Essentials in these last days. And the problem is solved, I booted in normal mode, open Microsoft Security Essentials and on the settings tab, added *. GIF in file types excluded.
And all is well. All applications are run very well, as Internet Explorer. So I guess there is something wrong in the latest Microsoft Security Essentials definition updates.
Here are the details of my system if you need:
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Basic (Service Pack 2)

Two is counterproductive and may damage your settings and you at least will slow down considerably. No one should have 2 anti virus running programs.

How to get the gif file hosted by using the Http connection?
Hello
I have an application that downloads animation gif from a server by using the http connection. Here is the code I use to download the image.
try { httpConnection = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url, Connector.READ_WRITE); httpConnection.setRequestMethod(HttpConnection.GET); if (httpConnection.getResponseCode() == HttpConnection.HTTP_OK) { DataInputStream dS = httpConnection.openDataInputStream(); byte[] data = new byte[dS.available()]; dS.read(data); gifImage = (GIFEncodedImage) EncodedImage.createEncodedImage(data, 0,data.length); } else { throw new Exception("ResponseCode:" + httpConnection.getResponseCode()); } } catch (Exception e) { gifImage = null; e.printStackTrace(); }
the problem with this code is, when the gif file is 1175 bytes above, it does not load the gif.
example:-If the gif on the server is 1500 bytes, this code retrieves only 1175 bytes.
I think that the rest of the bytes are sent in a different package. But how to get them.
can someone please provide a code for buffering the inputstream?
any help is appreciated.
Dieye
Hmm, nobody seems to know how to do, it seems. Here's how I did it.
httpConnection = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url, Connector.READ_WRITE); httpConnection.setRequestMethod(HttpConnection.GET); int responseCode = httpConnection.getResponseCode(); if (responseCode == HttpConnection.HTTP_OK) { inputStream = httpConnection.openInputStream(); ByteArrayOutputStream byteArrayOutputStream = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); byte[] buffer = new byte[256]; int len = 0, imageSize = 0; while (-1 != (len = inputStream.read(buffer))) { byteArrayOutputStream.write(buffer); imageSize += len; } byteArrayOutputStream.flush(); byte[] imageData = byteArrayOutputStream.toByteArray(); byteArrayOutputStream.close(); gifImage = (GIFEncodedImage) EncodedImage.createEncodedImage(imageData, 0, imageSize);
