Global frozen repetoire oracle rac database

I have 2 node oracle on solaris 10 x86_64 system cluster and I get the following error when starting instance asm on Node2.

Here is the error in the log file.

cluster interconnect IPC version: Oracle UDP/IP (generic)
CPI for the seller 1 proto 2
IPC send timeout detected. Sender: ospid 2388 [[email protected] (PING)]
cluster interconnect IPC version: Oracle UDP/IP (generic)

cluster interconnect IPC version: Oracle UDP/IP (generic)
CPI for the seller 1 proto 2

Global Resource Directory frozen
allocate domain 0, invalid = TRUE
Restored communication channels

I turn off the firewall on both nodes.

Can someone help me on this please.

Without information from four-digit version?
Not at all, Jose

  • Freezing of the Oracle RAC databases

    Hi all

We use oracle database 11g version 11.2.0.1.0 RAC database standard edition having two active instances.

Recently, we have been confronted with a database, freezing problem, the regular orders program has not run in DB.

Can anyone suggest me how to find the reason of this problem and what needs to be monitored side DB for a few days?

    Thanks in advance.

John, but this assumes that actually perform the jobs - would not quite the case.

My meat with the question (as Konda explained), is owner of problem. Developers who seem to refuse to have their process not running problem, he blames on the database and now awaits the DBA to own the problem simply because of their opinion without merit (and a little ignorant) as the database "frozen".

It is unfair to expect the DBA through all kinds of hoops to find the 'problem' in a bottom-up analysis of the problem.

A fundamental question for developers should be, prove it. Showed the code to run (work performed). And then a question why there is no instrumentation in their code just to say what's happened...

  • Need to size the Oracle RAC database settings and configurations as storage size % etc.

    Hi Experts,

We have a requirment that we need size parameters of database to an Oracle database RAC 11g as the sizing of disk space, memory, and CPU (SAN), Cluster size etc what would the size of the recommendation for major banks or large project? Can you describe in sizes (TB). I'm not sure of the growth of the DB files on a daily basis and no customers.

    Thanks in advance.

    Viji

It is a bit of an oxymoron.

You ask for one RAC server sizing. When RAC architecture allows you to evolve by adding more servers.

So if you have treatment volumeX to do, you have only 2 servers fabricant1 RAC to deal effectively with him. Or you can need 4 servers Fabricant2 CAR care effectively. There are many factors (unique to this client) which determines the choices made.

So 'sizing' the server is not a matter to be treated, until you've decided just what type of server, you will use for your RAC (dual core, quad core, 8 cores, base 16, etc.), how much he must take care of the memory, the amount of energy, it would consume, it takes up the amount of space (rack units) in a Cabinet how much local diskspace, it must support, how many PCI slots must be to HBA and HCA and other cards, etc.

Once this is decided (1 rack unit, dual core processors 4, 2 PCI slots, etc), can you evaluate vendors and server models available and decide how much of these servers must be purchased to meet the needs of data processing envisaged.

If for example, the decision is 3 servers and after deployment, it is determined that server capacity has been underestimated, then a 4th server can be purchased and added to the cluster of 3 Server - and the cluster set scale to actually do deal with the volumes of data processing.

One of the fundamental reasons for RAC is scalability. This means that only one server sizing is much less important than choosing the correct h/w architecture which allows to evolve this cluster by adding more h/w.

It would be very stupid to buy and build a server 2 CARS which was 'size' for volumeX, then find that the volume is X + Y, and 2 servers can only be resized at great expense to 3 servers (for example 4 unit rack servers, rack unit space only 2 left in the cabinet, required for quad powersupply by server power cannot be satisfied for 3rd server) (, no fiber port more SAN, etc.).

  • listener down randomly on the oracle Rac database

    Hello

Given that we have done a database migration BECAUSE we have a listener who crashes, on a single node.

Operating system is oracle linux 5

    version Oracle 10.2.0.4

First I thought it was because of the conflict on the system. That I thought it was the rman backup that uses 3 channels. I changed it to 1 channel. But this does not resolve the issue.

I hope you can give me a hint or two on how to solve this problem.

    Regards and thanks in advance.

The problem was the backup script that was executed on the server.

He used a linux 'cp' command to copy the tar.gz (compressed backup file) file to a share that has been configured as automount. Don't ask me why.

For some reason, this caused the CPU up to 250% which of course killed any response from the server.

I replaced the command copy with rsync and everything seems to work fine now.

    Kind regards

We are responsible for "make a copy" of Oracle RAC database a customer and our plan is to finish with the FCAC and allows you to host a new unique Oracle database. Very few of us familiar with CARS and looking for suggestions on how to do it (without affecting the source JAR).

Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

    Comments/suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Can take a full expdb of the source database and simply use impdp to import into the standalone database server?

It is an option. Data pump does not care if the source and/or destination is CARS or a mix. If the database is too large, it can take a lot of time to complete.

Another option is to use the DOUBLE of RMAN feature. And another option is to restore the database from a backup.

  • How to apply the PSU on Oracle RAC?

    Hello guys,.

How about the Oracle RAC database without any stop PSU? (patch only database, not clusterware).

Lets say I have 2 CCR node on different hosts with separate houses oracle/grid (no shared resources). What are the steps to avoid blackouts? I simply apply the last OPatch on grid/oracle homes, and then generate the oracle user ocm.rsp file and simply run as root: opatch auto/patch/path /-oh oracle_home - ocmrf /path/ocm.rsp and he will do everything for me on this node? then move service on node patched and do the same on another node? Oh, and there will be no interruption of service? Thank you!

    Gytis

    Hello

Yes, the concept of a rolling patch is that the DB will always be upward, albeit on a node or another (or maybe 2 of 3, etc.)

Check out this doc, spec 14.2.4 reduce planned downtime Maintenance

Essentially an instance will come down in time. You can either manually a node patch or another, or well let Oracle patch bearing (but make sure you test it in the configuration of test first, if you have one, or else we put up with the same group of patches just in case).

The idea is that the VIP relocate Node2, or if you use SCAN apps will detect node1 down.

If possible, it is good to do this with a team Apps - ask them to move the connection with Betclic / application servers to the next node in the cluster, then the first patch (rolling patch), then exchange all node1 and make the node 2.

The same steps apply for clusterware.

  • Redo Log in Oracle RAC 11G

    Hello

I work with oracle RAC 11gr2.0.3.

We have an expectation to top event 'parallel log file reading', and other types of waiting as 'log sequential read', 'log file sync '...

When I check the size of redo log = 50 M, while in the old database oracle 10 g 2 (no CARS), the size of redo log = 150 M.

So, I want to know if I should increase our redo log in our Oracle RAC database, or not?

Should be again small use connect oracle RAC, oracle RAC without difference?

    Thank you for your help.

No matter the size, it is recommended to use at least 3 groups of newspapers by thread. This is particularly important if the archive log mode is activated.

    See you soon,.

  • Change password for an Oracle RAC installation account

    All,

I'm not an Oracle DBA, but currently I am asked to fill in until a certified Oracle DBA lights.  I work with MS SQL Server and have servers managed for some time.

That being said, my question is probably a simple.  In the Oracle 11 g RAC 2 installation guide, it tells you * must * use an account that exists on both servers to install.  So far, so good, we have a domain dedicated to this purpose and no other account.  However, due to a recent change in policy, we must also change the password on this account on a regular basis (annual).  My question is, which, if it is, a will this affect on our Oracle RAC database facilities?

If we simply change the password at the domain level, rather than to check the "must change password at next login", is this cause problems with our data?

My inclination is no, we have no problems, because current services 'running' Oracle use the local NETWORK SERVICE account that will not be changed, but confirmation of this would be appreciated.

    Environment:

    Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP2

    Oracle: 11.2.0.2 and 10.2.0.4

    GRID: 11.2.0.2

    Thank you

    Jason has.

Change password of OS isn't a problem for Oracle DB.

    Hello

    I don't know what I am wrong? The location is OK ("/ home/oracle/backup/vvsms /").

Please suggest me some things about it. What should I do?

    Thanks in advance!

P/s: sorry for my bad English.
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@vvsms log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log append

This line may be your problem.
As this database is a RAC and you are using a service with NLB 'vvsms' and ' / home/oracle/backup/vvsms ' is not a shared location. RMAN is starting a session on the other node where ' / home/oracle/backup/vvsms ' does not exist.

    Try changing:

    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@vvsms log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log append

This (using the easy connection method):

    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/rman target sys/viviet@localhost:1521/VVSMS log /home/oracle/log_rman/vvsms.log append

    Where:
    localhost: your local node
VVSMS: is at the service of database

Also check if ' / u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/network/admin/sqlnet.ora ' set up the line "NAMES. DIRECTORY_PATH = (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT).

PS: When RMAN start a session it shows where is recorded, control over the newspapers which RMAN instance has been registered.

  • Installation of IOM on Oracle RAC 9.1.0.2

    Hello friends,

I have a question about the installation of Oracle Identity Manager, Oracle Identity Manager need to install 9.1.0.2 depositary having a database of Oracle RAC, my question is: when you run the prepare_xl_db.sh script that I need to edit this file to prepare the Oracle RAC database? or can be executed without any parameter changes and prepare the Oracle RAC database

    Thank you

  • core for Oracle RAC and grid on Linux x 86-64 RHEL 5.5 Infrastructure

The manual "Oracle Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide 11 g Release 2 (11.2) for Linux.
Chapter 2.8.2 list software requirements for Linux x 86-64 platforms
Table 2-8, x 86-64 Linux operating system kernel requirements

    States, whether it is supported:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Update 2, kernel 2.6.18 or LATER version
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 update 5 with kernel unbreakable Enterprise for Linux, the kernel 2.6.32 or later version

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e17212/prelinux.htm#BABFDJJF

My doubts are (for linux x86_x64):
"Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux" is really mandatory for RHEL 5.5 and Oracle Grid Infrastructure or is it possible to use RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel.
Oracle RAC Database 11 g 2 is supported on RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel supported?

    Thank you

    Pavang is right.

I opened a SR and Oracle Support they confirmed she RHEL 5.5 with RHEL kernel is supported (minimal support). but Oracle is highly recommend to deploy the nucleus of the unbreakable Company Oracle.

    Some reasons for their recommendations:
    http://public-yum.Oracle.com/
The core Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise for Linux is the standard kernel used with Oracle products. The build
and QA Oracle database systems and other Oracle products use the core of Oracle Unbreakable company
for Linux exclusively. The core Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise for Linux is also the kernel used in Oracle
Exadata and Oracle Exalogic systems. Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel for Linux is used in all benchmarks
tests on Linux in which Oracle participates, as well as in the setup of valid Oracle for x 86-64.

    Thank you.

  • How to change the Oracle initialization parameters in db Oracle RAC

I want to change the settings AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS and SQL92_SECURITY to TRUE. I have an Oracle RAC database two nodes.

Should I stop the clustering services, modify the settings on both nodes and restart? Or change the setting on a node (node 1), restart node 1, restart node 1 (no change)?

    ALTER SYSTEM SET AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS = TRUE scope = SPFILE;

    Thank you.

    The command

    ALTER SYSTEM SET AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS = TRUE scope=SPFILE SID='*' ;

    is the syntax. However, the CCR using a SPFILE the ' SID ='* ' "specification is the default value." IF you want to change a setting for the local (for example PROD1) instance to which you are connected to, specify SID = "PROD1";
The documentation states that if you specify a remote instance (for example PROD2) Oracle changes the value in the memory on the remote instance.

  • Database recovery after installation of all new nodes ORACLE RAC

    Hello!
    The scenario is like this:
RMAN database full backupset is present, including the control file (database RAC).
Absolutely new 2-node Oracle cluster software inslalled (without data) on other workstations.

Is it possible to restore the RMAN RAC database on new nodes?

    Thanks to all for replying

    Hello

    Yes it is possible

  • 10g R2 no RAC-database unique Instance to upgrade to 11g R2-2 node RAC database

    Hi all

I have a requirement for my client.

We have a three databases with replication between them activated by MV & MV connects to the 10 g R2 database.

This must be upgraded to Database 11g R2 with a 2 RAC node.

Please tell us how to get started and go.

Also please notify once upgraded to database 11g R2, how replication can be achieved.

    Thank you

    Vijayaraghavan.K

    > We have to first upgrade to 11 g R2 Instance unique and then move on RAC - node 2

You must install the grid Infrastructure for Cluster and RAC database software in the new cluster.

Then upgrade the database as a single instance database.

Then, convert it to the RAC

See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e17264/install_rac.htm#TDPRC185 for the conversion of the measures.

  • Oracle RAC and replacement of equipment

    Hello world

next year our Oracle RAC (hardware) servers will be is more supported. We have a 2 node RAC (SE) running on Linux 5. For you, what is the strategy easier (and safer) to replace the equipment:

    • Reinstall complete with database exports / imports.
    • Adding new nodes to the cluster with new servers and delete 'old' (but it seems that the same version of operating system is required in accordance with the documentation).
    • Clone of the cluster according to the Oracle documentation on news servers.

Thank you for all your ideas. I googled a bit, but I've not found much info.

    Carlos.

    • Adding new nodes to the cluster with new servers and delete 'old' (but it seems that the same version of operating system is required in accordance with the documentation).

It's what I strive for. If your time with new nodes in the cluster is short (less than 24 hours), and you stay on the same distribution (i.e. OL5 to OL7), then several times, this isn't a problem. If you still have concerns and do not feel comfortable with this recommendation, then I'll recommend another avenue. I often used it when I was doing something similar for the production system was too critical to take no risk.

    1. Up new servers in a cluster. You can even start with the version of grid Infrastructure more later/more big who can save a future update maybe you.

      1. It will take a new OCR and voting disk new configuration.
    2. Attach the storage shared on the new cluster. For a short period of time, you will have storage mounted to both old and new.
    3. Install the RDBMS software on the new cluster. Wear on all the config files you might need more... tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora, etc..
    4. When you are ready to drop the database on the old cluster, cutting on the new cluster.
    5. Use "srvctl database add" to add the database to the new cluster.
    6. Use 'srvctl add instance' to add the instances to the new cluster.
    7. (Optional but normally a good idea), use 'srvctl add service' to add services to the new cluster.
      1. Steps 5 and 6 above usually use the same name of db, same instance names, same service name.
    8. You now have the database running on the new hardware. Stop the old servers

The only other sticking point would be handling the SCAN and traditional VIP. When I made this drive, I usually my network guy change the SCAN VIP and traditional dignitaries to be alias in DNS that point to the new VIP.

If you do your homework and have everything ready to go, the downtime can be less than 15 minutes for this approach.

    See you soon,.
