Glossary Widget - Captivate 8

What is the best way to get the glossary widget to show/hide in Captivate.

I use 8 Captivate.

Thank you!

Arwen

Place it on the first slide, it time for the rest of the project and always on top.

Then create a button to toggle to show/hide form it. You will need a v_visib variable user with a default value of 0 and the conditional action (I would create a shared, action can be used for many purposes):

IF v_visib equals 0

See the i_Gloss where i_gloss is the interaction of the glossary

Toggle v_visib

ON THE OTHER

Hide i_Gloss

Toggle v_visib

This form can be set on the master slide, or also to the first slide and timed for the rest of the project.

I use a widget from Adobe for the first time (glossary) and find out that this pause the movie on the slide has been introduced (when I remove the widget that the film isn't a break). My goal is to introduce the widget (visibility hidden) and show/hide by Actions of the art associated with a smart shape button, which is the value to display for the "rest of project". • Tips on creating my own widget Captivate of a Flash component

I am a reasonably experienced Flash developer, now having to use Captivate.  In order to emulate certain features of the software to an exercise, I need to create a ComboBox (what Captivate appoints a 'widget' and Flash calls a "component").  The combo that comes with Captivate is very different in appearance than I have to borrow, and isn't sufficiently customizable - in particular, I can't find a way to make the wider real drop list and remove the gray outline around each selection.  I was able to customize the ComboBox Flash to my needs in maybe three minutes.

So, can someone point me towards a more customizable widget free combobox for Captivate, or article/tutorial on creating a Captivate widget, with emphasis on exposure of the user's selection as a Captivate variable for the Captivate movie script?

    Thank you.

    Hi Carl,

Captivate widgets are actually created and developed from flash itself, if you have a good understanding of actionscript so you should if all goes well able to change and bring your own.

You can access the source code for all of the Widgets provided in the directory program files of Captivate. You probably want to take a look at the Combobox widget, which you can find here:

    Files\Adobe\Adobe captivate 4\Gallery\Widgets\More\ComboBox_AS3.wdgt

There is a version for AS2 and AS3.

I haven't played with this widget, but I imagine you could hopefully just reskin clips or modify the code so that it uses the Flash components rather than customized to achieve your results.

In addition, if you are familiar with coding AS3 and want to create your own widgets from scratch on edit an existing, I suggest strongly that you discover the Widget factory API. This is a huge improvement on the examples of default Captivate widget and is much easier to use.

    You can find it here:

    I hope that helped!

  • Widget of glossary in 8 Captivate is not correctly displayed in HTML5

    Hello

I created a glossary using the glossary widget in Captivate 8. When I saw in HTML5, the widget automatically goes to the upper-left corner of the screen and is partially cut off, no matter where I placed it on the blade (right that now, it is supposed to be centered on the slide). See screenshot below.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem? I need to publish HTML5 for my client, then publish to SWF is not really an option. I use a Mac OS 10.10.2. Thanks for any help or suggestion!

  • Widget glossary

Where can I find the latest version of download available glossary widget?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rosemary

To my knowledge you can only get them through your installation of Captivate.

If you want to Captivate to update widgets in your installation, close Captivate, and then navigate to the current location of widgets interacting here (on PC):

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Interactions_9_0

Delete any widget you want to Captivate redownload.  DO NOT delete the widgets found under your Adobe Captivate installation directory in Program Files.  Delete only copies of them that Captivate records in the patch that I show above.  This will force Captivate to get new ones on the web (as long as you are not blocked by a firewall at your place of work).

  • What the widget glossary useful when the slide will not stop?

This is my first day trying to learn 8 Captivate. I created a glossary widget on a white page thought it could serve as a valuable resource. When I preview the it, the widget doesn't even show until most of the other path in life and then stops. I must be missing something obvious, because apparently C8 creates films, not free timed pages. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Rob............

LOL, the only one of the Adobe engineers can say why it fails to appear for the type 'Play this slide' Preview.

He does not appear for the next 5 slides or the project, or the preview of the browser?

As there is an interaction, may Captivate must make before it can present it correctly.

  • Problem with creating a new line in widget glossary

I use 6 Captivate and have a problem with trying to display text on a new line in the description field of the widget glossary. In playback mode, a carriage return displays form \n

I read in another discussion (from early last year), that this problem had been resolved and that the fix would be communicated soon on the blog of captivate for users without a subscription. Anyone know if the fix has been shared yet - I can't find it anywhere?

    Hi Tenneil,

    Greetings from Adobe.

Please click on the link below and download the Interaction of Glosarry updated.

    2. Copy "08_Glossary.wdgt" into the extracted zip file.
    3. Go to: C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 (32 bit) \Gallery\Interactions (for 32-bit Captivate) or C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 (64-bit) \Gallery\Interactions (for 64-bit Captivate).
    4. Replace the glossary widget in the record of the interaction. Restart the Captivate 6. (Make sure you take the backup of the original Glosarry Widget)
    5. Ask the widget again and check the issue.

Let me know if it works for you.

  • Glossary of terms as tool tips/roll over the legends

Is it possible to have my legend text defined online via tooltips or roll on legends?  These definitions of terms / can be autopopulated by the glossary widget, I created?  I think I've seen do Captivate but have never done it myself.  Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Indeed, a pop-up window is not possible with the interaction of the glossary. What might serve your purpose is to have a button (form) on each slide in which appears the glossary? Or even use the hyperlink feature to run a fast action which makes the visible glossary? Of course, you also offer the possibility to close. You can time the Glossary for the rest of the project, you can have buttons to form on the master slide or also synchronized to the rest of the project. Just an idea...

Hmmm, this example XML file is in the properties of himself? I thought you wanted all of the XML file for all of the words that are in the example? Those that are embedded in the interaction.

  • Switch between the buttons when a widget is open

Hello to all I am struggling with the release of the glossary widget and HTML5... I had posted this problem last week here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5298569. Shekhar from Adobe has helped solve the problem (thanks) but not 100% optimal. So I will ask a question that can bring me satisfaction and closing

I want to open a glossary widget with a button 'open '. When the widget is open, the Open button will change to a close"" button. Basically, the controls will be in the same place, but open widget made toggle buttons. Is it possible to do this without too much savvy programming...? Yet once, I need HTML5 output because half of my students are running courses on ipad or other handheld computers...

    Thank you

    Daniel

    Hi Lilybiri,

Thank you. Your idea of scenario 4 worked perfectly. A small problem that I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing something which is apparently not related... I still don't see my glossary pop up in HTML5... However, the toggle function works perfectly when using the F4/F12. Button is a large spacesaver and thanks for the idea. Do you have ideas on the exit of HTML5...? Once again, thanks a lot!

  • Custom image button resets

    Hello

I have a project with about 50 slides and use a custom image button to allow to the learner access the glossary slide at the end.

Unfortunately sometimes the action of all the buttons gets reset to 'continue' instead of 'jump to slide _.

    What could be the reason?

I did not remove the slide with the glossary. I have download the XML definitions for the glossary widget. I also started quiz slides by adding at the end.
Is there anyone knows casue/effect that resets the actions of the buttons?

Thanks for any clues as the refiguring takes every 10 minutes each...

I can't explain why the action evolves when you copy/paste but do have a tip for you.

Why complicate this by having the individual buttons on each slide instead of the button a single form that you can put on the master slide or on the first slide and the time for the rest of the project? You can convert each image to a form button:

  • JAWS and Cp 7.01.237 - not best friends?

The construction of a requirement of 508 who uses IE and JAWS 14 on a Windows 7 computer using the version of Captivate 7.01.237. I'm going to say before we made 508 accessible pdfs who received notes very high mobility and reduced groups of users, but are not considered other than "accessory" accessibility by the tester of Government (don't know why)

Running in this laundry list under test on the cloud of SCORM and by applying JAWS:

    1. JAWS reads the script variable in a text instead of the output box (example bed: "$$cpInfoCurrentSlide$ $ $$rdinfoSlideCount$ $ ' instead of '1 of 2' and reads" $$ cpInfoProjectName$ $cpInfoDescription$ $"rather than"Lesson1 - JAWS is bad")
    2. If a button with three States (selected, reversal and unselected) JAWS reads that three buttons and two have name, role and state information.
    3. JAWS will not read boxes of your comments on any of the question slide, period.
    4. If you define an action to disclose information once the user makes a choice by selecting a menu item or button, any change that results on the page is not necessarily read immediately after the selection.
    5. Opening a table of contents of the PlayBar is easy, closing it is almost impossible to JAWS
    6. A COT overlay creates an expand/collapse button as a tab on the corner of the table of contents who cannot receive an accessibility label.
    7. Immediate access to a table of contents decreases the effectiveness of JAWS. The development and the flow is lost and cannot be reset - all the slides to start at the of the table of contents and JAWS reads "end flash" - is the only way to start to until the beginning of the slide, press the up arrow key repeatedly.
    8. Opening a document or a linked swf is an act of barbed wire - if you close it and JAWS is not centered on the open project, it is difficult to return to the project, and still less to return where you stopped.
    9. With the help of a glossary widget works, but it is difficult at best to get out and close it without running through each active letter and the title and content bars, which is aging rapidly.
    10. Smart shape buttons is not accessible without the help of shortcut keys.

Yes, sent it in a bug report today. Looking for any workaround/ideas that I continue to be «silly old ant, trying to move that rubber tree plant...» »

    Justenuf

PLEASE NOTE: If you are lucky enough to have a 508 testing service that reads the law in a way that allows you to create JAWS (or other screen reader) the .pdf accessible to meet the requirements of the Act, no further information following should be a problem, since users with low vision will have access to your content in the document. However, my experience has been that there is no agreement on the question of whether the pdf document meets the requirements of Section 508 (e.g., a Department, I worked for did not PDF to use at all, another Department considered a 'nice supplement' - after initially being particularly enthusiastic about their use as the main alternative.)

FYI - heard of Adobe and I wanted to share with other designers of 508-disputes - '[sexy]' = Adobe

    1 JAWS reads the script variable in a text instead of the output box (example bed: "$$cpInfoCurrentSlide$ $ $$rdinfoSlideCount$ $ ' instead of '1 of 2' and reads" $$ cpInfoProjectName$ $cpInfoDescription$ $"rather than"Lesson1 - JAWS is bad")

[Sexy]: it is a bug. ()not 508 compliant - it must lose your slide counter, could be a deal breaker)

2 JAWS will not read boxes of your comments on any of the question slide, period.

[Sexy]: it is suggested to have audio attached to the legends of feedback, so when it appeared corresponding audio is read. (So it's a bug, unless you save the audio for each box of feedback on each slide of the issue - without option of TTS available)

    3. If you set action to disclose information once the user makes a choice by selecting a menu item or button, any change that results on the page is not necessarily read immediately after the selection.

[Sexy]: objects are read by JAWS based on the Z index in the timeline. Say for example, you want a legend of text shown at the click of a button of course you place text caption upward in the index-Z next to the button. ()So, set up your reading order from the bottom of the timeline to the top... or maybe not - I'm still working with it)

    4. a table of contents of the playback bar opening is easy, closing it is almost impossible to JAWS a TOC overlay creates an expand/collapse button in a tab on the corner of the table of contents who cannot receive an accessibility label.

[Sexy]: it's a bug. (As indicated by many people here, the table of contents are tricky - as indicated by Adobe - it is not compatible with 508)

    5. access immediately to OCD decreases the effectiveness of JAWS. The development and the flow is lost and cannot be reset - all the slides to start at the of the table of contents and JAWS reads "end flash" - is the only way to start to until the beginning of the slide, press the up arrow key repeatedly.

[Sexy]: I have seen in this case. (Since its already not in conformity of the #4, it's just another nail in the coffin of the TOC)
