Satellite A100-409 restarts a lot due to BSOD

I have a Toshiba A100-409, before I had the M70 - 163, the great laptop, incidentally, but 409 restarts a lot.

If the 409 go in mode sleep and whenever I start it again, I get a blue screen with the error.
Sometimes the 409 is the same and when it is completely turned off and when I start it up I get a blue screen, after a reboot it will start.

I have 2 GB of memory, but when I want to test with a program, 409 restarts.

Windows, after the sending of the report, said a driver error.
I installed the 409 with a clean Windows XP pro with al the latest drivers, I have the same problem.

What is memory? or is it something possibly

Wait did you check a new memory modules or have you simply removed a laptop memory module and checked the feature with the single module?

I would say also the memory could malfunctions and is responsible for the unrest.
Maybe you should plug completely new modules from memory what you think?
The A100 is not very old notebook and therefore the guarantee must be valid.
Try to contact the service point and technicians could check the modules easily.

But before you do this test for updating the graphics card driver.
I noticed a new update. Maybe it helps. If this isn't the case, follow the recommendations above.

Your laptop computer shut down automatically?
If you didn t notice any unexpected shut downs, then the computer laptop doesn't overheat!

My touchpad is too hot. This is not unusual due to the internal temperature for laptop!
The laptop as CPU and GPU parts produce a lot of heat and, therefore, the other parts may be hot too.

    > I try to keep my dust-free specifications, but it's not helping and my left leg Burns
I see you don t use the laptop on the table. This is the main reason why the laptop can not be properly cooled and raises the temperature of laptops!

Look, the vents are placed at the bottom of the unit and they must be free! It is very important to ensure a flow of ACI cooling properly and very fresh!
In addition it should be always enough free space around the laptop even if the laptop was sitting on the desk.

So, don t use in bed, sofa, sofa etc is undesirable and very risky because notebooks cooling module does not work as it should.

    Hello

I had a search but I couldn't find all the topics that have the same problem as mine, I maybe could have missed one:------.

  • System of Satellite A100 restart when I eject a CD CD-driver

    Hello

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite A100, when I eject a CD CD-driver, computer restart.
    Could someone help me, please?

    Best regards, Robert

Which is really strange, I know that the laptop could happen again if an error has been detected.
So in my opinion that the internal CD/DVD drive could cause this strange restarts automatically.

It would be very interesting to know if the same thing will happen with a new CD/DVD drive. I think you do not have the opportunity to test this and therefore, it would be advisable to contact the service provider authorized in your country for these audits.

But wait; have you tried to update the operating system and boot from the restore CD?
Try to reinstall the OS from the original Toshiba Recovery CD and check if the same will happen in fresh, new OS.

  • Satellite A100 restarts when HDD WD connected?

Hi, I searched this issue in this forum, but I don't find it so here you go.

I recently bought a WD portable hard drive and when I plugged, he enrolled in the icon section, then it would go to a blue screen and do a reboot even time I had connected hard drive. He wouldn't even give me the option/Assistant to install the program.

My laptop is S100 998. I took it to where I bought and received a refund. They have had problems with it on his computer to test as well. I tried another unit in the store and he did exactly the same thing. Finally, I tried another brand that worked well, but the whole point of getting this portable hard drive was because of his rep.

Do you think it's my phone who is at fault with the type of hard drive, or they are not as good as they say.

    See you soon

Boyfriend sorry but if people in the store say that hard drives are not so good, why do you now your laptop is not OK?
Either incidentally, S100 998 is unknown to me. Maybe you have Satellite A100 and not S100.

    Hi flottero,

It of always a little difficult to discuss these blue screens because many things could be the reason, but in most cases it s a hardware or driver problem.

If system restore doesn't work, can you try to restore Windows recovery disk settings, please? After that, you get back factory settings and so you can identify a hardware problem or software.

  • Satellite A100-683 with Win 7 - screen brightness adjustment does not work

    Hello

    I have a model of Satellite A100-683 PSAA9E with Win 7

My problem is that I don't have a brightness in my dashboard-> laptop Center

I tried to install the drivers from the site Web of Toshiba (additional package, return), but stops the installation always with errors such as: value added package: PVAT Setup error

I tried to install the drivers for Vista...

    Please help me!
    Sorry for my English mistakes.

    Hello

The installation may stop due to system problems or the PVAT erroneous version.
I recommend you to uninstall the installed VAP.
After the PVAT has been uninstalled, restart the laptop.
Now, download and install the tool small freeware called CCLeaner.
It helps to clean the system and deletes files temporal garbage from the HARD drive.
After the cleaning of the system registry, you must restart the system once more.

Now, go to the page of the Toshiba UE driver and download the Toshiba value added Package for Win 7. Note! Choose the right! There are differences between the 32-bit and 64-bit version.

Unzip the package, run the exe from installation or installation file and start the installation.
Installation should finish properly and after new reboot, you should be able to use the function keys.

    Hello

I have something new, something I've never seen and I do not much [as appropriate] of you.

Today, I installed Windows Vista Beta 2 on my laptop Satellite A100-192. As it is Vista compatible now [I added some memory] I think it's the right time to see the new operating system [that is great, he will rule the world for sure].

    But back to the topic.
After the installation of Windows Vista, which has detected almost all of the software in my pc and have fun on this topic / and there are a lot of things an old fart like me, can have fun with / I decided it's time to get back to work.
So I restarted my toshiba for win xp, started working and has decided that music will surely improve my / concentration i'm from Poland and as many of you know, my team lost the first game of the 2006 World Cup. so they will not pass the group stage of WC2K6--real cause my humor today. After turning on my foobar, I realized that I don't hear nothing/i do not drink, so he can't really be the cause. I've set all volume settings, all the settings of the sound and nothing! I tried headphone jack, but it does not work too. I tried reinstalling the drivers, reboot the system several times and... nothing.
I went back to Vista and... sound works like a charm.

  • Satellite A100-803 - Vista recovery problem

    Hello

I upgraded the RAM and HDD on a Satellite A100-803 and when I restore Windows Vista from the recovery disk process is going very well, but after restarting windows says that "Windows Setup could not set up Windows on this s material.

I think that the problem is listed here.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2466753/en-us.

But the problem is that I can't change the RAID setting in the BIOS, and during the installation of recovery, I'm not able to add the additional drivers needed.
The new drive is a WD 500 GB driver (WD5000BPVT)

How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Pau

    Hello

First I put t think its BIOS problem.
    The laptop doesn't support RAID.

I think the problem is the size of your new HARD drive. Upgrade of the disk HARD 500 GB and its larger than the original HARD drive equipped in A100.

The point is that a recovery disk automatically creates the partitions on the HARD disk, but due to the size of the disk HARD the size of the partitions would be different also.
I think that you won't have the same problems to install Vista or Win 7 using the Microsoft disk

  • Satellite A100-680: PnP BIOS Extension missing driver

I searched for about one hour now, other threads from reading and the search manually through the database of the driver, but I can't find any useful information.

As you can see from the following screenshot...
    ... I am missing a driver.

I'm sure that the driver is listed, but it can also be saved under another name. This isn't something I'm infamiliar of searched a lot on other sites (Acer, HP, etc.) for drivers of other computers in my work.

    Anyway.
The reason why this driver is missing on my * Satellite A100-680 * is that my antivirus detects it as a keylogger. This is not the first time that this happens, and I can easilly restore virus vault if I want to. However, this is something I really wish to do.

This problem also occurred with some of my audio drivers earlier, as well as the driver associated with TOSHIBA Hotkey functions. (Solved).

In order to check for me if my antivirus detects a false positive or not, I would like to find the driver and install it.
If after this my antivirus detects it as a keylogger, it was just all along.
If it detects it as a keylogger, I treat the result as a false positive and add it to the white list.

My Toshiba is a Satellite A100-680, running Win XP Home edition.
The version of the BIOS is "Phoenix Technologies LTD. 1.70, 11.05.2006" (from msinfo) (whether this info is helpful at all is beyond me...)
    SMBIOS version 2.31 (new msinfo.)

Have you tried to remove this device in the Device Manager list and restart the laptop?
Try this! After restarting again the operating system must search for the driver and must be reinstalled this device automatically.

The European driver Toshiba page provides up-to-date BIOS 6, 00 - WIN for this device

  • Satellite A100 - sound turns off randomly

OK, it was my fault. I lent my laptop to one of my students who tried to load a software to read a FLV file.
Since then, I had a lot of problems with my sound.

The sound would work, but when the volume is too high or often at random - the sound would cut out them and stop them.
The sound level meter shows that sound is working.
Mixer indicates that the driver is working.
But I do not hear anything from the speakers.
Only when I stop and restart the sound coming back.

I downloaded the sound driver Toshiba Real Tek recommended, but this has not solved the problem.
I completely rebooted Vista and all my software, but this has not solved the problem.

    Hello

It s really strange that your problem persists after that you got the laptop.

What you could do is visit the site Web of Realtek and could attempt to reinstall the audio driver directly from Realtek page.

    Hello

You reinstall Windows or only the sound suddenly stopped working?
And the sound card is in the Device Manager? There are some yellow exclamation points?

Before installing the new drivers, you must remove the old drivers first. This means remove the older version of the driver and the software, and then restart the laptop. Use CCleaner to clean the registry and restart. After this installation, the latest driver from Toshiba Europe page.

  • Last updated by Satellite A100-289 with a new CPU and additional RAM

Hello. Sorry for my English in advance :) I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite A100-289. Despite I am satisfied with the laptop, it is possible for me to update, so I have a few questions on this topic.

Fact laptop support Modules-SO-DIMM 2 GB of RAM? Also, what mobile CPU is supported for upgrade? Is it possible to replace the Core 2 Duo T5500 (default), with a few other Core 2 Duo processor, such as T7400, T7600, T7700? And if I install a new processor, it will influence the energy consume and warming temperatures drastically?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

with regard to your question: Yes you can.
Usually your chipset is capable of a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, but due to the limitation of the slots (Slot 1 cannot handle a 1 GB module), you can move only to 2 GB maximum, because your machine has only 2 slots.

And what with your CPU? You can certainly try, but you won´t have a lot of luck. Excluding the small fact that each machine has it s own system of cooling for the processor which is equipped with this machine.
the won´t CPU run at full speed.

Why not? The problem is and now speak from experience;) that when you replace the processor in a processor intel pentium M or Core(2 Duo) system, something in the bios change, then the new processor
will not properly recognized. And then the old? Nope. After you swap the CPU, you will have to bring your machine to an ASP.

They have software that reactive something in the BIOS and the CPU runs at full speed. Since then they to the ASP will notice that you tried to Exchange something in the Board of Directors,
you will face a cancellation of the guarantee and you will have to pay for everything that happens to be broken after the revocation.

So I propose: update your RAM, but don t touch your CPU.

    Have a nice weekend

  • Occasional hang up IE and hibernation on Satellite A100

    Hello
I have a Satellite A100 with Windows Vista. It works fine, but I have two problems:

-Sometimes Internet Explorer crashes upward, often the whole system "freeze".

-The system does not properly recover after hibernation. It seems to revive activity, but then the splash screen, showing the Toshiba logo appears, like when to turn on the computer.
Then a blue screen displays a quick message, report an error or a problem (sorry, the text flows and disappears too fast for me to read) and I get a message asking if I want to solve the problem that led to an abnormal termination upward by booting in safe mode or start Windows normally.

Can anyone help? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

    PS apologies for my English...)

    Hello

just a few suggestions, maybe not all the resolution but useful:

    Regarding your problem of IE
    1. perform all updates, you can get (windows, 3rd party software, etc...)
    2. install an anti-virus program if it isn't already (a good is Avira anti-virus and it s * tadaaaa * Freee!)
    3. use Mozilla Firefox instead of M$-IE, it s faster, not so buggy and there are a LOT of free plugins for him :)

What about your sleep problem extended:

    1. update your bios to the latest version available.
    2. to read the blue screen, do the following:

Make a right click on 'My Computer', then left click the "Advanced" tab, and then click settings in the 'Startup and recovery' section, then uncheck the "Automatically restart" under "System failure" and now able to read you´re today described the BSOD (Blue screen of Dea *)

That s all I can tell you
