Go to El Capitan Yosemite?

I downloaded El Capitan for iMac and Macbook Air (two operating systems 10.10.5) yesterday, but neither went through.  What I did not?

Save the Mac before installing OS X.

Launch the Finder in the Dock.

Finder > Applications > install OS X El Capitan.app

Double-click it to start the installation.

  • I want to go back to El Capitan Yosemite, but I don't have a return upwards on Time Machine. Can you please explain what I can do to get back to Yosemite. Thank you

I would like to return to Yosemite to El Capitan as my v5 Adobe Photoshop crashes constantly, as now seems to be unstable since upgrading to El Capitan.

Unfortunately I do not have a back up of my laptop on Time Machine (stupid, I know), so how can I do for the reversal, please?

Make a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different disks.

Go to the App Store purchases tab and download Yosemite. You will be probably get says can't you install it, but download it anyway. The program below to create a bootable USB key. Boot from the Flash drive, run the check/repair disk utility and repair permissions until you get no errors.  Reformat the hard disk using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS extended (journaled), then click on the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the operating system. Use the installation wizard to restore your Time Machine data.

You could try to make a copy of these two files:

    / Home/Library/Preferences/com. Apple.mediaaccessibility.plist

And transfer them to the same folder on the other computer.

  • No reason to go to El Capitan Yosemite?

I am running OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.5 on MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2.53 GHz, mid 2009). Works very well. Is there a reason to upgrade to El Capitan?

It is perhaps a matter of personal preference or opinion. As it seems to work

Well, I would not upgrade the computer right now; When Yosemite no longer sees any

the system update (update of security, etc.) then maybe it's time to review it. Or if you were

to choose to buy another computer, it would be the last OS X and you would have

wait for the new model to manage the last OS X without problem. The current model

should be enough for several years; It can be repaired and see the replacement of material.

    Good luck!

  • Vs El Capitan Yosemite

    Hello world

I understand that mainly El Capitan is reported as for most of Yosemite, with performance improvements. However, I just bought a new MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5) with 256 GB & 4 GB RAM and I don't know if would be a good idea to upgrade!

Should I create a new partition with El Capitan to consider what options should be adapted with respect to the slow and performance wise? or should I just do the upgrade?

    Suggestions pls...

    Did you buy this machine?

Then the former owner may not have given it to the factory settings.

It's normal. You not download operating system. You download an installer that puts the operating system on your Mac. After the operating system is installed, you can download this version and other setup you had previously installed.

Somewhere in the process of Photos disappear from the list of the App Store bought even if it appears as a current application. iPhoto is listed as "Paused".

Looks like it's trying to install the compatible version of Yosemite/El Capitan, 9.6.1. If you click on the button in standby, you can resume?

The App store says I have 1 available, but does not say which application. When I select 'update all', the answer is ' updates not available with this user ID "!

Which would indicate that you have something installed that was bought with a different AppleID. It may well have been another of your AppleID, but this isn't the one you are currently connected to the app store with. If you had a different AppleID, sign of the App Store, then again with the different AppleID. That should allow you to update the software. AppleID cannot be merged or transferred, and cannot the software bought with it.

  • At El Capitan Yosemite

Hello, my question is about the upgrade to Yosemite to El Capitan. I converted to Windows, and I would like to know if theres a way to clean install El Capitan without having to download the installer from the App Store. He just write about Yosemite El Capitan?

    Hey, Hatsune, M.

Thanks for the question.  Looks like you want to upgrade to El Capitan, but you have a problem with the side of your system being modified Windows.  You will need to make a purchase through the Mac App Store until you can go through all the steps that I will recommend it because I see that you do not want to use the installer.  Through one of these steps should not change on side Windows of your system, so you should with the help of the OS X Installer.

Update of OS X El Capitan

If you are wanting to completely erase your Mac OS X installation, then you have not the ability to erase and install.  However, it is not necessary given that the OS X Installer is designed to be installed on the earlier version of Mac OS X.  For more information on this process, please see the link below.

How to reinstall OS X on your Mac

Before you go through one of these options, it is a good idea to create a backup of your information by as a precaution.

First of all, remember that's where people go when they are in trouble.  Problems so is all you will see here, even though the update was 99.99% bulletproof, you would see only people with problems here.

That said - anecdotal - it seems that there are a few key questions that keep popping up.  Upgrade/validation of the library of e-mail seems to be one of them for a number of people, for example.  John Gruber has even mentioned problems with the last update of El Cap for example (associated with mail again), and is not a common thing.

    http://DARINGFIREBALL.NET/linked/2015/12/07/low-hanging-fruit

So, if I were to update today, I would like to, as you say, make absolutely sure that I backed up EVERYTHING, including all your .mbox mailboxes mailbox and your e-mail account configuration/login information.  This way everything that happens that you have options.

    Good luck!

  • 10 comments VM Windows will need to be recreated when moving to El Capitan Yosemite in the host operating system?

I have 8 Fusion installed on Yosemite. I have a guest VM Windows 10 and works well. When I install El Capitan, do I have to recreate the Windows 10 VM guest or it should run with El Capitan as the host operating system? Thank you!

    Hello

Upgrade to El Capitan shouldn't matter to your guest operating system, it must continue to operate as is.

However, DO NOT wipe your drive on the update as then it might erase your VM.

So best thing - as always - is to make a backup of your VM - with the virtual machine closed down and merge not running - before the upgrade to El Capitan.

  • A lot of problems after El Capitan then downgrade to Yosemite

Hello, I'm on a MacBook Pro (15 inch, early 2011), refurbished

    2.2 GHz Intel Core 17

    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    I have free out-f 859,48 GB 998,07 GB

    SATA drive

(Barely) running on OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.5

This is a refurbished MacBook Pro, I bought a little over a year he has absolutely no problem until I tried the update of El Capitan a week ago.

First of all, the update took several hours during the night to download. He then took more than 14 hours to install. After completing the installation and reboot, the machine was apparently very well, but I had just surfed the web normally on Google Chrome.

The next day, shortly after turning on the machine, through a much faster startup and logon process and begins again to surf the web via Chrome, everything went haywire. The MacBook froze, I had a gray screen, then he crashed and died.

At this point, he refused to start as long as upward and rather stalled on the Apple logo screen white front. After I held down the power button to force it to turn off, wait a minute and turned off and on again, it starts only insofar as the logo screen of Apple with the progress bar and then hang. I tried to see if it would finally finish starting, no dice.

    LONG VERSION:

I started to shoot trouble that all the typical El Capitan boot post fixed.

    1. it will not Mode safe mode by holding the shift button on the start menu to the top. I have no active FileVault. I don't remember if I have a password for the updated firmware.

    2. I was able to start it in recovery by using the command Mode + R while restarting - exactly ONCE. At that time, I used utilities and my external (passport for Mac) back to restore pre - El Capitan Yosemite. Still, things seemed good that night and I was able to use Chrome normally.

    3. the next day, the same problems started upward, however, now it is no longer will enter into Recovery Mode. Yet once again, I would be stuck on the logo screen white front, or stuck on logo screen, or sometimes it would start through and then hang on the white screen again.

    4. then, I tried to return the NVRAM on restart. This method sometimes works, sometimes not. Sometimes it again just hangs up on a part of the boot process.

    5. I booted into single user mode and went through a series of troubleshooting commands. Yet once, it worked - exactly ONCE. For a while, it will boot into single user mode, most of the time, but following the instructions of before no results will be given.

    6. I started in Restore Mode to Internet using the command + Option + r Repeat: it worked exactly ONCE. I was able to restore Yosemite 10.10.4, day 3, thought it was good, but no, crash, no initialization. None of the previous patches were working. Also, now command + R to start automatically in this mode and not in recovery mode. When the recovery of the Internet Mode ends, he hangs up on the white screen again and refuses to start.

I am more able to access Recovery Mode to use the utilities to erase the disc.

    7. after resetting the SMC (Ctrl + Shift + option + command while holding the power button) AND the NVRAM, I am able to boot the computer and enter the Finder utilities and run the disc utilities. I ran all the permissions of the drive, I fixed all the permissions, I fixed the drive. On several occasions. Same things, I do much more than surf the web and it crashes. No startup. No Recovery Mode. Recovery mode Internet hangs up. Single User Mode is not given result. Also, I can no longer erase MacIntosh HD.

    8. I use Time Machine to restore to my last backup. No dice. Same deal, as all of the above.

    9. Finally, it does not restart after resetting the SMC and NVRAM again. I then upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.4 to 10.10.5. Now, I continue to have the same problems as above, but I can run is no longer Google Chrome or Spotify. With two apps, I get an immediate error message indicating "Chrome/Spotify has unexpectedly" until something starts at all.

    10. I removed Chrome and tried to reinstall, same problem.

    SHORT VERSION:

    1. I've updated to El Capitan and the other day my MacBook Pro started to break and turn off, and then refuses to restart.

    2. I have followed all directions on Apple's Support forums including attempt to boot mode without failure (fail). I could enter in Recovery Mode and restore an earlier version back up only ONCE. Now, it will restart is no longer into Recovery Mode.

    3. I followed the instructions to start in single user Mode. It worked exactly ONCE.

    4. I ran first aid utility disk and check/repair permissions and repair the disk several times. The problems persist.

    5. I started in Internet Recovery Mode. It worked exactly ONCE, and now instead of normal Mode recover DΘmarrer to cmd + R, it goes right to the recovery of Internet Mode. Once that ends, it hangs indefinitely on the white screen, then sometimes it will go to a totally black screen indefinitely or close again.

    6. I used the reset of the MSC and the NVRAM and managed to start completely. Then I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.5 and lost my Chrome and Spotify. The MacBook continues to crash and stop randomly. Of the SMC + NVRAM reset seems to help with the start-up, but the crash then using that anything but Safari continues and reinstall still leads Chrome an instant "Chrome has unexpectedly" error message before it even begins.

The Mac came to me with Yosemite already installed and I have no disc to install it after a clean cloth. I am able to surf the web, and that's mostly it.

10.10 is saved on one archive, available from a backup Time Machine or in your App store purchases, there is no legal way to get more.

If you have disks that came with the computer as it is prior to recovery of the internet you can retrieve for that OS, but you are limited to the upgrade of the operating system in your App Store account. If you do not have this option is strictly 10.11.6
