Going from CS3 to CS5

I've just updated from CS3 to CS5 and feel

growing pains. I have several questions, but I'll make them one at a time.

first in CS3 I edited a jpg file, and then click Save as and change the name of the file in order to have the original file

and saved the edited one. CS5 - when I do and hit "save under" nothing happens. I do something

wrong or is this an "improvement" in CS5

You have a small screen?  Who does not respect the minimum of 1024 x 768 pixels in Photoshop maybe?

Unfortunately, it will not put a record on a too small screen dialog box.  Yes, that sounds pretty fake.

  • Going from CS3 to CS5 - hardware old

I think I know the answer to this question but wanted to ask anyway. I've been running CS3 on the following system

    Windows XP

    Pentium D 830

    NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400

    Raptor 80 GB

    500GB Raid 0

    2 GB RAM DDR2

I would like to upgrade to CS5/Windows 7. Can I use my old equipment or do I need a new system? If the answer is the new system, can I save old components or is it just not worth the effort? Thanks for your help. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

New system. What can save you?

    Windows XP: no

    Pentium D 830: no

NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400: maybe but not recommended

  • Upgrade from CS3 to CS5

I am currently moving from CS3 to CS5 on my iMac. I've updated the main part of the suite, but when trying to update Acrobat received a warning him scared me. He said something to lose eventually my current PDF. It seems that you have to uninstall your old version of Acrobat before you install the new version. If I do that, I'll lose all my PDF files currently on my system or they will still be there after you uninstall the program and put it back?

Straceylou16 no you will not lose your PDF documents.  It's only going to remove the old version of Acrobat.  Will not suffer your PDF documents, you have saved.

  • Can I switch from CS3 to CS5?

Yes, Adobe supports an update of Design Standard CS3 suite CS5.

  • upgrade from CS3 to CS5 Web edition academic edition

Is there any problem with the upgrade CS3 Education edition to the new CS5 Web edition? I would just buy CS3 to CS5 update?

There are no academic CS3 edition.

You have a following ordinary CS3 (standard, premium, master, web, etc.) which can be upgraded to a new suite CS5... you just pay the price of education for CS3.

CS5 pages produced on adobe.com, see the upgrade price for whatever the suite CS3 you have.

  • Moving from CS3 to CS5 Production Premium, where the Ultra sets?

    Hi all

Many of the predefined sets used in Ultra CS3

I see Ultra keying is now integrated in first Pro CS5, are all went together?

I can load the old stand alone Ultra CS3 and CS5 applications?

    Thank you

    Chuck

Ultra games are not part of the CS5 Production Premium. Only the key effect is.

You can always use Ultra CS3 on the same computer as CS5 Production Premium.

  • Can I skip from CS3 to CS5 or 5.5?

Or I have to buy CS4?

If you have Photoshop CS3, you can directly upgrade to Photoshop CS5.

If you have Creative Suite CS3, you can go directly to the Creative Suite CS5.

You don't need to buy a copy of CS4 in both cases.

  • Have updated from cs3 to cs5 photoshop WWhen economy I can't choose a folder

Have upgraded to cs3 to photoshop cs5 when I "save under" an image, I get a box of selection very reduced files that I can record on my Mac. Before I took off of photoshop cs3, it worked fine on cs5. I can't go through my hard drive to choose a folder, or add a new folder.screen-capture.jpg

This is the Macintosh standard Save dialog box, and you have not developed to display the list of files.

Click the arrow to the right of the file name.

  • Went from CS3 to CS5... New UI augh...

Why it looks like they downgraded...? I'm having trouble with power work quickly just after loading an image now.

    1. the images do not match the screen during the loading of an image if they are larger than the screen resolution. Now, I need to zoom or hold on the screen every time.

    2. why all loaded images now by default in a tab? I have to manually go out if I work at the same time.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do what it was like in CS3?

Go to the interface edition/preferences/and uncheck open as tabs documents

  • Once again: too dark prints after the CS3 to CS5 upgrade

Hi, I know this has been discussed before, but I have not found a solution to my problem in the existing threads. Probably missing me something obvious, and perhaps someone here can point out he me.

I recently updated from CS3 to CS5. In the two editions of photoshop I followed the recipe of Eric Chan to set up the print workflow: http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/printworkflow.html. In CS3, everything works as expected, i.e. Printing corresponds to the test. Print the image even from the same computer/monitor in CS5 product which is much darker than the softproof printing or printing from CS3.

In case this is relevant, my psd files are all in Adobe RGB 1998, I use the print Epson provided (v5.51) for the Stylus 3800 diver. I use the icc profile for Epson exhibition fiber paper, which is what I print on. The conversion method is Relative calorimetric with verified Blackpoint Compensation. Photoshop runs on a Windows XP SP3 32-bit computer.

Any suggestions? Are there settings that are not mentioned in the description of Eric Chan I should look to find the source of the difference? Is there anything that could explain the different random draws?

    Thank you!

    Martin

    > I printed the wacked out of CS3 and CS5 image. In CS3, everything looks good, i.e. the test corresponds to printing. In CS5 the test seems identical to CS3, but printing is dark.

This is useful information, a kind of conversion took place or the footprints would be blue

immediately I notice you're using different printer profiles in photoshop CS3 and CS5 print dialog (the text in your screenshot is too blurred to read)

I have no way of knowing if you have used the same profile in Proofing

But if photoshop softproof does not match the impression that something is happening, the question is: what?

  • Reclassification of cs3 to cs5 commercial best student itinerary?

I would do in literally the cheapest way possible.  I know that nothing tends to be cheap with Adobe, but I was wondering what the best way would be to go to the Master Suite CS3 to CS5, and if change of licenses can student to commercial over upgrades (or what I have to buy the range Master many times?)  I do go through CS4 to CS5?  Is there any remotely cheap medium to do this?  Thank you.

    Hi Vito,

Yes, you can directly upgrade from student to commercial and get the upgrade prices - which is one of the benefits once you own student editions...

However, if you happen to be still in school so you can continue to get student price of a full copy of CS5.5 - so you would need to compare the price of upgrade compared to the cost of a new edition student above and if it was lower.

And you do not need to go through CS4 in both cases - just go directly from CS3 to CS5.5 Commercial in the first case, or buy the CS5.5 Student Edition pure and simple (if you are still eligible) in the second.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to restore good export PDF from InDesign CS3 or CS5 in Snow Leopard?

I had no problem to export to PDF from InDesign CS3 files (on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.4) until last weekend, when all the fonts appear bitmap or thin and rough, and the images lost color depth and contrast. When I copied the InDesign document to my MacBook Pro laptop, also running 10.6.4 the PDF has emerged with its original quality. Support calls Adobe referred me to the incompatibilities between Snow Leopard and InDesign documents. One of these documents was several pages long, but I could not print from the Adobe to my HP website all-in-one Officejet, because one-third of the document was hidden under a white board. This makes it impractical for the troubleshooting document, because I don't have enough screen real estate (even on a 23-inch screen) to let the open document and all the pages and dialogue boxes needed for reference. Back to the phone and chat support, I was told to upgrade my Creative Suite Premium CS3 to CS5 ($ 800!) and buy the updated Acrobat Pro ($200), with no guarantee that this cost of $1,000 would actually solve the problem. I downloaded the trial version of InDesign CS5, and it has NOT solved the problem. I am also afraid that the problem did not exist before last weekend. Before that, my CS3 and Snow Leopard combination worked very well. Then I checked the forums and was appalled by the variety of issues related to PDF files, for which there seems to be no general solution. Meanwhile, I have hundreds of ads, I'm supposed to be prepare and e-mailing as evidence PDF to businesses nationwide. I have two books of 120 with 256 pages to be submitted to printers in PDF format with all kinds of fonts and files image belonging to my clients. The last time I presented a paper on a printer by electronic mail, the work went perfectly. This time and the next, it is obvious, that I won't be able to send a PDF file to all! If this is the case, my activities related to the directories of 27 will be unable to absorb the expenditures necessary to start all over again with software and new computers, and I'll be out of business. Period. Yes - someone ' an at - it a way to solve this problem? Surely, I would be grateful.

  • Want to upgrade from CS3 [Design Premium] CS5

    Hello

You want to upgrade from CS3 Design Premium CS5 and I saw there is a difference in price of the update since CS4 and CS3. Stupid question: if I bought the CS5 upgrade, I would be able to install the suite or it asks for the previous version of CS4? If she asks only CS3 I would really put some $$$.

    Can you help me

    Ellen

Sorry, but the answer is no you can't pass a suite to a single product.  A lot of people miss this restriction if you choose to purchase the Suite.  Adobe locks for purchase of upgrades for all once more that you've crossed him not you.  So the short answer is that you must purchase the upgrade for the entire suite.

Check the recent thread on 'Adobe GREED' recent experience of another person with it.
