  • Oracle APEX Performance on Oracle Express Edition

    Hello

I was wondering if someone can help me, I'm looking to change my environment hosted on a virtual server. The server running VMWARE Windows 2012 R2 and Oracle Express Edition with the latest version of the APEX.

    The server would be:

    3Gig Ram

    25Gig storage

    1 virtual processor

Someone at - he no idea how it would perform? I currently have applications with up to 200 people using the system at a point in time. Performance is critical obviusly and I don't want this virtual solution if I'll take a drop in performance.

Just to clarify, the only reason why I'm looking to spend are all my clients are located in South Africa and I am currently hosted in the United Kingdom. The shift would be seriously reduced if I moved to accommodation in South Africa.

    Thanks in advance.

    Andrew

    Hi André,.

I did a few tests of performance and scalability with APEX on XE with JMeter (https://jmeter.apache.org/)

The limitation of the XE is mainly database size (I think only 11 GB for user data) and max 1 GB for the database altogether instance.

When you use the EPG of APEX I started to run into trouble after 20 + sessions at the same time.

When you use the earpiece of the APEX, I was able to push a tot of factor 2 3...

After that XE has usually crashed due to problems of memory.

Everything depends on the application and how active users are their session but more importantly could give you a good indication that XE isn't the way to go for 200 users working at the same time.

Maybe check jmeter (very easy) with your application and the config to see when it crashes. SE1 could also be a cheap alternative.

I want to use oracle express edition with filesystem encrypted Windows. I tried some options like encryption folder xe. But connection can not be established when efs is used. There is a compatibility problem between oracle xe and windows efs? On the page of the Oracle, it is stated that the oracle database is compatible with the Windows EFS.

  • Database Oracle Express Edition (XE) advice and recommended reading

    Hi all

Still relatively new to the forums and databases, but I stumbled on the Oracle Database Express Edition today, I didn't even know that Oracle has offered something like that. Great stuff, perfect for students aspiring DBA and analysts to draw lessons. These forums have been a mine of information, but it would be good to have a sticky thread at the top of the forum with all the Oracle documentation best and other reading materials to learn how to use Oracle XE! Any suggestions by veterans over here?

  • Forms 12 c and Oracle Express?

Anyone know if the RCU for 12 c forms must be included in a database of Oracle Express? I would like to set up a development PC with forms 12 c but I don't want to put the UCR in my production database.

I remember the good old days of forms 10g with a single installer which could both install forms and reports more SSO with database included. The complexity and overhead of the new versions of forms makes it difficult to justify the upgrade for my business.

The repository database is necessary if you want to have a runtime environment.  You said that you don't want to have the repository schemas in the prod db to test your dev.  Do you use data from production to test your 'dev '?  It may be a good idea to have a database of development both for rest and data.  That said, the patterns of Repo are particularly well appointed, in order to install them in an existing db should not create a problem.

Oracle XE is not certified.  A list of databases that have been certified in the certification of products.

  • Options for Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard

    Hello

Please give me suggestions on Oracle GoldenGate vs Oracle DataGuard? Based on the options, I choose for the implementation

    Thanks in advance

    Thank you
    Vincent

    Hello

    Oracle Dataguard:

1 primary and Standby Database must be the same. (But 11g, it supports Heteregenous Data Guard Configurations. Example: We can imeplement Oracle Data Guard between Oracle Linux 6.2 Server (x86_64) and Microsoft Windows 2008 Server R2 (x 64)

2 oracle Database version should be same in source and target

    3. no additional license required for Oracle Data Guard to install.

    Oracle GoldenGate:

1 operating system in the primary database and the Standby Database are not necessarily even.

    2. major databases and standby are not necessarily even. (Including database software).

3 oracle GoldenGate Software license required in the Source code and database is target.

    Hope it helps to...

  • Eclipse Helios and Oracle Enterprise edition

    Hello
I'm new to the oracle database, I have installed Oracle 10 g Enterprise Edition in windows XP sp3, I also installed the last JDK (jdk1.6.0_25). When I open (double click) on the eclipse I get a pop window JVM(Version 1.4.2_03 of thr JVM is not suitable for this product.) Incompatible Version 1.5 is required). I use the latest Eclipse Helios. I tried on the previous versions of the eclipse (Ganymede, gelileo), it's the same projection. When I uninstall oracle 10g Enterprise Edition eclipse works fine, after the installation of the oracle, I get this pop up window.
Please suggest me a solution for this.

    Thank you.

"- vm" option in eclipse.ini to specify a JVM for the eclipse to start with. The "-vm" and the path to the JVM must be in separate lines in your eclipse.ini as follows:

    -vm
c:/JRE/bin/javaw.exe (replace this line with your jvm path)

I do not think that the order of installation of the Oracle DB and JDK issues. It is more likely that install the DB Oracle adds that the machine virtual JAVA embedded inside the Oracle DB to the system path. But with the above option, you can specify JVM eclipse should use. For information about how to specify the options in eclipse.ini, refer to this wiki page http://wiki.eclipse.org/Eclipse.ini

    Hope that helps.

  • SQLDeveloper and Oracle Express

I have installed SQL Developer and work.
Then I installed the Express database; After that, I was unable to connect to a database as I used to. I usually use TNS connection, but now SQLDev reads the TNSNames from the XP database, instead of oracle home. I think that's the reason why I can't connect more...
    Any thoughts would be welcome.
    Thanks for any help.

I hate when that happens, so I travel my TNSNAMES. ORA and SQLNET. ORA files on any particular Oracle home. For example, if Oracle Home is C:/Oracle/product/db1, and then I move C:/Oracle/product/network/admin/*.ora to C:/Oracle/admin/network.

Can I use control panel/system/advanced/environment of Control Variables to add a new environment variable:
    TNS_ADMIN = C: / Oracle/admin/network

Therefore, any Oracle Home I use, the TNSNAMES. File ORA who gets used is C:/Oracle/admin/network. Installation of a new piece of software Oracle does not change this.

  • The Oracle Express Edition XE upgrade to 11g (11.2) using DBUA

    Hi all

I have a server Oracle xe on a platform of red hat linux 4, I need to upgrade to 11g (11.2) using DBUA.
This is the first time for me to use DBUA, I'm following the steps described in the Oracle database upgrade guide.
I'm a little confused, I have a very basic question:

in step pre using DBUA, when I install the 11g, can I install the oracle software only, or can I also create an 11g database?
in other words, I have the impression that the DBUA will upgrade the XE database itself, change the data files and tables of the tenth to 11g?

Thanks in advance for your time.

You did not mention the full version of your database in the tenth. If one 10.2.0.1, you cannot improve it 11.2 using DBUA directly. First, you must update at least to 10.2.0.2 before going to 11.2.

Please refer to Metalink Notes 980693.1 and 837570.1 for more details.

  • VCSA 5.1 with Oracle Express Edition?

    Hello

is it possible to use VCSA 5.1 with Oracle XE? Do you have experience with this?

    Thank you

    Pavel

Sorry, I'm not an expert on Oracle licenses

This Oracle licensing FAQ can help you out: http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/Oracle_licensing

I think you could take the Oracle Standard One maybe? Although it is limited to only 2 CPU sockets, so if you ever want more CPU, you will need to purchase another license.

  • Listener Oracle Express Edition issues

    Hi all

I'm having some trouble with my interlocutor. I'm trying to start my listening on a different port, then then I installed on (1521) and the receiver refuses to start.

    Was the work around that?

    Connecting to (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=svr-ex-01.dbsoft.local)(PORT=1531)))
    TNS-12541: TNS:no listener
     TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
      TNS-00511: No listener
       Linux Error: 111: Connection refused

I refused to believe that I needed to reinstall XE just to change the port!

    Thanks in advance.

You don't "install" the port to listen on a port.  You start a process of listening, and it determines what he finds in listener.ora which port it will try to listen to.  If there is no listener.ora, it will use the default value of 1521.

Take a look at the error stack.  Which suggests the line 5?  An error being returned by the operating system and the spokesperson through the lsnrctl utility.  Hmm...  Maybe a firewall issue?  Blocking port 1531?

  • Oracle 11 g R2 express Edition cannot be installed

    Hello

I tried to install oracle 11g R2 on my laptop when I downloaded OTN I unzipped both files in a folder and I clicked on Setup Installer, and when I click on the class Office disappears from the configuration screen and it starts from first.

I'm not what the problem was. Can someone please guide me what to do.

Oracle has said Oracle Express edition does not work with x 64. You can install linux on a vmware and install Oracle on it. This edition is for Linux x 64.
