GoldenGate... possible database level replication?

Hi all

I have a test case. Is it possible to reproduce all of the base to use Golden Gate? I don't want to reproduce a particular schema. Suppose I have 3 db server. and one of these schemas will be created randomly and want to be replicated in the databases of each node, is - it possible? Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Hello

The level of database using Oracle GoldenGate replication is not possible.

Oracle GoldenGate is a best-of-breed, easy to deploy, product used to replicate and integrate the transactional data with speed of subsecond among a variety of business systems. Oracle GoldenGate provides the flexibility to move data between similar systems to and heterogeneous, including different versions of database Oracle, hardware platforms, and between Oracle and the non-Oracle databases including Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 for open systems and z/OS, Sybase and more.

Kind regards

Veera

  • The SYS user connects to the database level, is this correct?

My senior colleague gave me following information about the user sys. I want to know, - is this correct?

Since the SYS user connects to the database level, therefore, on the session active user SYS, to kill only the current statement is canceled. The database session does not disconnect. Instead, he continues to run the remaining in the script file instructions where we run a script file that contains a large number of SQL statements.

If the Oracle session was killed and the customer continued to successfully submit the following commands to the database, a new session was automatically created to replace the killed session. A feature called Of Application Transparent failover which allows the customer to switch to a session of a RAC server to another RAC server, the initial session fails (for example, RAC Server breaks down).

TAF is part of the response to the so-called "+ the Evil Twins +"-errors and crashes. The rest of the answer are FAN (Fast Application Notification) and CLF (resumption of fast connection). This set of features about the errors and crashes - and allows an application 'seamless' continue even when his Oracle Server session fails.

  • Is it possible to level/add a graphic of a laptop Pavilion dv7-7000 card?

I did a lot of research lately, for the most part unsuccessfully, on whether or not my HP Pavilion dv7-7025dx laptop computer can have a GPU dedicated, added to this, as it has currently only the graphics card Intel integrated HD 4000 Mobile.

Especially since I met the unfortunate agreement that most laptops can have their updated graphics cards / toggled because the graphics card is soldered on the motherboard. However, after speaking to a representative HP 'support', they said they thought it was possible to add a graphics card, as long as it is compatible with the motherboard HM77 45W UMA was my computer.

In addition, after finding the maitenence and repair online for my computer ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03221579.pdf ) it is said that he could have come with switchable graphics, specifically the Nvidia Geforce 630 M or 650 M.

So I was wondering, is it really possible to add a dedicated graphics, either by the presence of switchable graphics or something else? Or am I stuck with Intel HD integrated graphics card?

If I can put to level/add a new card, where would I be able to find/buy a compatible, and that I would be able to install it myself or do I have to go to a local computer repair?

My laptop is HP Pavilion dv7-7025dx Entertainment Notebook.

It has a processor Intel Core i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30 GHz, 8 GB memory, 750 GB hard drive (5400 RPM).

I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (64-bit).

    Hello

You cannot add a dedicated system like that graphics card. The vga is soldered to the card so no way you can just plug it in as on a desktop computer. However, you can buy a new motherboard with the graphics card dedicated to this topic. It also requires a new sink.

    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03221579.pdf

You need a Board of 682040-001 more 682061-001 heatsink for a dedicated laptop graphics card. Take a look on ebay for the part numbers.

  • Views - set at the database level or RPD?  Advantages/disadvantages/best practices

General question about the use of points of view and OBIEE. I have a handful of views that I had to set for one reason or another within our mini - DW. Initially, I set all these level database and imported in my physical layer as I would a table.

I know that OBIEE has the ability of views defined within the Phyiscal layer by specifying the SQL syntax with the VIEW type.

I'm curious to know if anyone has any ideas on the manipulation of views one way or another? :

-Do you prefer to define the points of view within the RPD to keep your logic in one place?
-Are there performance benefits with the definition of the view in the database itself?
-Are there any best practices known surrounding views with OBIEE management?

    Thanks in advance.

    K

Yes, this select statement is called view opaque. Opaque views can lead to performance problems. If your view is huge pulling data then do not create this view in the RPD.

  • Which way is the best instantiate the Table level replication tables

    Hello

I just got a doubt. Which way is the best to instantiate the tables of replication at the Table level.

    source_database_name = > ' DB1. WORLD ',.

    This way:

    DECLARE

    BEGIN
    ISCN: = DBMS_FLASHBACK. GET_SYSTEM_CHANGE_NUMBER();
    DBMS_APPLY_ADM. () SET_TABLE_INSTANTIATION_SCN

How can I apply ISCN even or the of the ISCN individual.

    Thank you

    Hello

Find the RCS of the source, and set if for all tables by using the dbms_apply_adm.set_table_instantiation_scn API.

  • Rename two-way level replication Tables/columns / schema

I have a bidirectional 10.2 - level schema replicated configured environment. Enforcement staff feels the need to rename tables or columns. We are DDL replication.

It is: after we modify rename table, it is necessary/best practices/best practice to run DBMS_CAPTURE_ADM. PREPARE_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION? We we cast no re-instantiation. In our lab tests, I did not saw that it had to be done, but curious if it must be done.

    Mike,

You don't need to run DBMS_CAPTURE_ADM. PREPARE_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION again after the table has been renamed or some DOF has been issued on this subject. If you rename a table, the object_id does not change. This object that spread in the target with the same object_id already has information flow existing dictionary on the site to apply it and so you do not need to rerun PREPARE_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION on the source.

    SQL > set off head
    SQL > create table xx22 (x number);

    Table created.

    SQL > select object_id from user_objects where object_name = 'XX22;

    84717

    SQL > alter table rename xx22 XX33.

    Modified table.

    SQL > select object_id from user_objects where object_name = 'XX33. "

    84717

If you add additional columns and you feel these columns must be connected supplementally then you can manually enable additional logging for these columns.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.

    Thank you
    Florent

  • Copy a possible database

    Hey people,

I have a requirement of my manager to basically replicate an environment running on one Linux machine on the other. Lets say there are two machines A and B

I have all my applications (these applications have a database running, and some of them also require weblogic) on a machine.

Now I want to reproduce these applications a on computer B. So my question is, if I copy files from database from A to B, I can start the database on computer B.

In addition, in case this method does not work, can create a dump of the database has and import the same work of B?

  • TimesTen database and replication

    Hello gurus,

I want to know how robust is the transactional replication in real time of TimeTen.

We currently have RDBMS Oracle and using streams and we are planing to use TimesTen in memory DB.

In the current configuration we have challenges with replication using streams and knowing that Oracle is more interested in the development of Golden Gate as replication solution, I wonder how good or robust TimesTen real-time transactional replication is and Oracle is committed to provide the upgrades and updates to the solution of replication of the ot.

You will appreciate your opinion on this.

    Thank you
    Solene

    Hi Eric,.

I'm not biased, because I do not work for Oracle :).

First of all, what type of replication that we are talking about? Oracle DB-> TimesTen to TimesTen-> Timesten?

For TimesTen-> Timesten replication, there is only one way - to use the predefined settings. This replication is working very well, unfortunately I did not performance testing, but I trust Chris in this issue. I tested the replication of Active-Standby pair (works with Oracle Clusterware) and it works fine as well.

For Oracle DB-> TimesTen replication, you have a few options. Will what type of cache group you use? How many operations per second of your DB Oracle is the treatment?
You can use the predefined TimesTen mechanism or Golden Gate (recommended for high load).

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards
    Gena

  • Change the date format on a database level

    Hello

I know how to change the date format on a per connection layer.
Can I change something in the format once and for all on a level username / the oracle instance level?

    Thank you
    Maxim.

The table below lists priorities of NLS parameter: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch3globenv.htm#g1012681

This is why many people say that the safest way to avoid the problem of date format is format of date, hardcode in every SQL statement. A logon trigger should also be an option if you are sure that the application doesn't runs another
    ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT = «...» ».

  • Is not Table-level logging a sine qua non for replication?

    GG version 11.2.1.0.3
RDBMS Version: 11.2.0.3 (Source and target are the 11.2.0.3 version)
    OS: RHEL 5.4

After the first load using expdp, experimental using GoldenGate we are replicating the LMD of 5 tables (Uni-directonal) from the source to the target.

DB level additional logging is enabled in the source.
    SQL> select SUPPLEMENTAL_LOG_DATA_MIN from v_$database;

    SUPPLEME
    --------
    YES
We have not activated level table for these tables using the ADD TRANDATA command as
    GGSCI > add trandata SCOTT.EMP
    He checked by running
GGSCI (cbrdf2) 2> info trandata SCOTT.*

Logging of supplemental redo log data is disabled for table SCOTT.EMP.

Logging of supplemental redo log data is disabled for table SCOTT.XXX.

    .
    .
But replication works without any problem. Then, is not table-level logging a sine qua non for replication?

Only one of the logging method above is sufficient?

Database-level logging is minimal logging necessary to capture updates to PK columns. For your INSERTIONS and deletions will get replicated, even if at the level of the array logging is not enabled.
However, updates of non-PK columns will not be get replicated if the level table record is not enabled.

  • ACS 4.2 to 5.4 ACS replication of databases

    Hi all

I would like to know if its possible to install replication of databases of the Cisco ACS server ACS 5.4 4.2 Server?

    Thanks in advance

    Mohsin sarr

Unfortunately, database replication (update of the trigger) cannot be performed because it requires the two ACS boxes to run the same code.

If you meant migration then yes it is possible.

  • Is it possible to install oracle fail-safe-kind-of (active-passive) SAN replication for oracle?

    Dear Experts,

Is it possible to configure replication of SAN (active-passive) integrated security for oracle for oracle?

To get the RTO < 60 seconds

    • If the primary host fails, the remote site should have the option to start the oracle database.
    • Sites are geographically remote.

SAN storage replication, can it be used in my scenario?

    • I have no option to implement oracle Data Guard as its very expensive.

Is that what someone achieved something similar with SAN storage replication?

    • I have oracle SE.
    • It is obvious that the all-flash backup can be quick.

What should be the strategy to have DR site get a few seconds, if the primary site failed for some reason any

    • Daily incremental backup with RMAN. And archive backup runs for every 1 minutes
    • To have the site of DR upward and running within 60 seconds, it still requires too much time to restore the database on remote site and have archive APPLIED setpoint
    • What could be the solution with san replication? RTO is 60 seconds

    Thanks and greetings

SAN storage replication, can it be used in my scenario?

I have no option to implement oracle Data Guard as its very expensive.

--> If you want to use the data that it is free of CHARGE, additional license is not required for normal data guard

--> additional license is only for the ADG

Is that what someone achieved something similar with SAN storage replication?

    I have oracle SE.

It is obvious that the all-flash backup can be quick.

--> Here, I understand that if oraclle EA is going to be expensive

--> Again, you can use manual standby

--> What you are looking for SAN replication, you will need to check with the storage vendor

--> If your intention is to check with oracle storage, then this may be the correct discussion room

We have a production migration soon in the coming months. We are looking for optional GoldenGate for no interruption of service.

But except for an oracle Lab, I attended, I really did not have any goldengate in real databases.

Can someone me links of steps how to implement? Is it possible to install this goldengate Prod database performance?

All advice will be highly appreciated.

Good tutorial on Goldengate, a quick glance, you can also be implemented with the help of this.
