Is it possible to install oracle fail-safe-kind-of (active-passive) SAN replication for oracle?

Dear Experts,

Is it possible to configure replication of SAN (active-passive) integrated security for oracle for oracle?

To get the RTO < 60 seconds

  • If the primary host fails, the remote site should have the option to start the oracle database.
  • Sites are geographically remote.

SAN storage replication, can it be used in my scenario?

  • I have no option to implement oracle Data Guard as its very expensive.

Is that what someone achieved something similar with SAN storage replication?

  • I have oracle SE.
  • It is obvious that the all-flash backup can be quick.

What should be the strategy to have DR site get a few seconds, if the primary site failed for some reason any

  • Daily incremental backup with RMAN. And archive backup runs for every 1 minutes
  • To have the site of DR upward and running within 60 seconds, it still requires too much time to restore the database on remote site and have archive APPLIED setpoint
  • What could be the solution with san replication? RTO is 60 seconds

Thanks and greetings

SAN storage replication, can it be used in my scenario?

I have no option to implement oracle Data Guard as its very expensive.

--> If you want to use the data that it is free of CHARGE, additional license is not required for normal data guard

--> additional license is only for the ADG

Is that what someone achieved something similar with SAN storage replication?

I have oracle SE.

It is obvious that the all-flash backup can be quick.

--> Here, I understand that if oraclle EA is going to be expensive

--> Again, you can use manual standby

--> What you are looking for SAN replication, you will need to check with the storage vendor

--> If your intention is to check with oracle storage, then this may be the correct discussion room

If you mean if you can establish software R12 (to upgrade 11i) with an existing EBS database then the answer is Yes.

Are what "license keys" you referring?

The Oracle database does not license keys. The version you download from OTN is fully functional, simply make sure that your current license that your actual use.

  • How to install Oracle 10 g on another partition

    Hello
On my desktop on drive C:\ (Windows operating system) I've got customer Oracle to access the Oracle 8i database which is the version used in the company where I work and which is installed on the Unix server. As I would like to install the database to Oracle 10 g Release 2 (practice) on my PC and the database to Oracle 10 g Client Release 2 as well, I have two questions:
1 - the installation procedure will allow me to install Oracle Database 10 g Release 2 on another partition of my PC (I have on that drive D:\)?
    2. first of all it will be possible to install Oracle Database 10 g Release 2 Client disk D:\ or the installation procedure will make me install on C:\ where I have the directory "praying" to access the Oracle 8i database I have to work on that?
Sorry for the questions but I'm afraid of committing errors in the installation of 10 g already having a customer for 8i which I still have to work
    Thank you!

    I have two more questions:
    1. for a single PC stand where I want to install Oracle Database 10 g anb Oracle Database 10 g Client, what version should I use? Do I have to use the Express edition or what else? I looked at http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html

You can use express if you wish. I have successfully run Enterprise Edition on a laptop XP - Pro.

2 are you sure I won't have any problem concerning the ORACLE_HOME or PC register on the same PC, although on different partitions (drive C:\ and D:\).

Not if install you it correctly. Oracle is designed to support multiple installations of version on the same box.

two versions of Oracle 8i (customer only) and 10g (more customer db)?

You don't need to install 10g client. All Oracle database facilities include the client software.

  • Installing Oracle RAC: Unix, Windows ASM nodes

I have a question about the Oracle RAC configuration. I never did no prior installation RAC or ASM. Maybe a stupid question to some of you.

Is it possible to install Oracle RAC with following options?

2 node RAC with Sun Solaris
Shared storage using ASM in Windows server

Any additional information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

In very simple terms, when using ASM, database server process read the CRUDE device and process DBWR write devices ROUGH containing tablespace information. With ASM, these processes simply ask ASM 'where the disk read/write. Therefore, ASM provides simply a "table of contents". (It is much more than that, but this seems to be a good way to start the discussion.)

ASM MUST run on the same computer as the database instance that is to use it.

In your scenario, the Windows computer may be Server iSCSI providing raw devices to Solaris machines. These devices would then be managed by ASM and reading/praav1s directly by database processes.

Hello, I did a disk eraser and reinstalled everything (to clean computers), then when I had to reinstall firefox I had a problem. I play a game called Fallensword. He has a script called Fallenswordhelper. So I installed GreaseMonkey, then when I tried to install the scripts said "Script cannot be installed error: failed @require json2.js. I did it for my computer every year since I started to use computers. I've never had this before. Please help me to get a fix for this, because I google it and cannot find an answer.

I am the original author of FallenSwordHelper. It was due to some changes in GreaseMonkey 0.9.0, which made it impossible to have local scripts.

I did an update (temporary?) so that extra all scripts (such as json2.js) now use absolute URLS.

  • A node CCR vrs Oracle Fail Safe

What is the difference between a node CCR and infallible Oracle?

In my opinion, BECAUSE a node seems to be essentially the same model of cluster active / passive as FailSafe (some talk cold failover by a CCR node). Failsafe is specific to the Windows environment (as in integrates with Microsoft Cluster Services).

Made a CCR node, work the same way as CARS that he can sit on top of any cluster solution (Oracle Clusterware or any other party 3rd clustering solution)? If yes then I think that RAC one node on top of Microdoft Cluster Server actually gives the same as Fail Safe!

Of course, it is possible that sit in the canoe RAC one node on top of Microsoft Cluster Services?

    Any thoughts?

    Jimbo wrote:
Seems to make sense. To ask the obvious question that I think I know the answer to.

If you have for Instance A & B on server 1 (in a 3-node cluster), with a CCR node node could you if the Server Node 1 fails, move Instance A 2 node server and Instance B 3 node server (or both must evolve to the same node as they set out sharing a knot?)

With a single node of CCR, you MUST have only a single Instance Active once. (during the failover (emotive) you will see in short time two target/destination one instance in each node to perform live migration).

Where the instance will run: this depends on your ServerPool.
If you serverpool have set up (for example, node1, node2, node3) the instance can move on another node, or you can specify the node in this serverpool

With a node CCR bodies "floating around" inside the Serverpool. (that is to say that they are not exclusive of a node, but it is exclusive to serverpool)

Set the number of servers or instances that are preferred for the application. Oracle Clusterware allocates resources up to the specified number as long as they are physically available automatically and move a resource to another node if necessary.

No, you are allowed to use it if you have an oracle database.
Oracle Fail Safe is not an Oracle database option, but it is a plugin that feature included with every Oracle 11 g and 10g Oracle for Windows 2003 R2 and Windows 2008 license.

Is it possible to install several Oracle client (versions) on development sharepoint2010 servers?

If so - what are the conditions or precautions take?

    Please through your thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

You should be able to. They will have separate directories.

On the top of my head... the only thing I can think can be a problem, that is your tnsnames.ora file. You will need to make sure that your environment variables are configured to use the $OH/network/admin/tnsnames.ora you want to keep.

You could probably set TNS_ADMIN to point to the desired directory...

  • Virtual IP address for group in Oracle fail safe

    Hello
I can't understand this, and when I want to create a group in Oracle fail safe Manager that I do not know what address or host name may be given as virtual IP for group and host name.
On the Windows Cluster Administrator can I find the correct address to give? Where?

    Thank you very much.

    You're on Windows (linux/unix)

I think that what follows is just, but I'm open to correction...

You need get the ip address assigned by your network administrator.

You will have freedom of choice of the name associated with the address, but it is more likely to clustername.domain.vip, service - name.vip.

Your network administrator that will put in its local directory naming service, dns for example.

You should not attribute this to an interface yourself but let clusterware like that. You cannot understand this line, but indeed, it is important that your network administrator does not bind the ip address of an interface network itself but clusterware is used to. You must place this information in the clusterware.

(I haven't worked with failsafe but worked with the RAC and the process will be similarities. "I'm wlcome to another poster to replace me).
