Good alternative to SuperDrive?

Probably will soon replace my iMac with an iMac and don't like to waste the optical drive.   SuperDrive critics who took my list.   Alternatives?   It must be simple to use.

If I go with a MacBook instead, the answer will be the same?

Thank you.

  • VMware View may be a good alternative for the Terminal Services?

    Hello people,

We run the Terminal Services on Windows Server 2003 Ent. in a cluster environment. We have 4 TS who handle the load. Now, we are faced with a high volume of users within the company. We have a main office (Headquarters) and 10 more ease, all linking to the seat through the DRC. We are trying to find a better solution to deal with the high volume in a better way and we have VMware View.

Do you think that is a good alternative?

Any input, advice is really enjoying it.

    Thank you.

I think that Desktop Virtualization (side Datacenter) and Terminal Server virtualization (Citrix or TS/RDP) pro and cons.

You must deliver multiple environments or move the entire desktop to datacenter? Desktop virtualization could be better.

You must provide a single application (or a few)? TS or some sort of virtualization to applications (such as ThinApp) solution could be better.

Check out what you really need and how to access these services.

Also consider licensing and where you can save costs.

  • What is a good alternative software to Adobe Reader DC?

I have a terrible problem with printing pdf files using Adobe Acrobat Reader - they seem to get "hung up" and just never print.  The system must be completely set.  Printing from a mined or a Word is fine, but it would be more convenient to have a program alternative pdf.  Googled but don't really know how to make sure I chose a safe software and one that will work with my Mac on OS El Capitan 10.11.5

I would recommend looking at PDFpen, I was very happy with this software for 2010 (I have no affiliation).

  • Is Capture One a good alternative to LR?

First of all I would like to say hello, as this is my first post here.

Hi, I use LR for a few years now. Recently, I downloaded trail of Capture one, and I found that it is very well done. Now, I am bit confused with my preferences, I stay with LR or move to Capture One? Big advantage for me, it's that in C1, there is no need to import pictures to the catalog (is there a catalog at all). Can you describe your experience working with the two applications over time please?

First: SereneMajestic seems to have zero knowledge on Capture One - you can ignore his position...

I have both LR and CO

CO is about 10,000 times faster than LR in each task. It's like a family car against a Ferrari.

This is one of my big questions I have with LR. 1:1 rendering for example is agonizing slow in LR. 1000 pictures to take several hours. In CO 15 minutes...

CO has not built in digital management engine. These functions are more basic.

However, you do not really miss catalog stuff, because it manages files RAW/JPG 100,000 without flinching.

Integration of CO in PhotoShop is quite poor. PS plugins cannot be used in CO at all, which makes me sick - I like the NIK plugins.

CO or better Phase One recently acquired Microsoft Expression Media - old iView - it is one of the best (affordable) media management systems out there. It is now well integrated on CO. This tandem will give Adobe some serious headaches, particularly in the European market. LR and bridge cannot compete with that

Image quality is as good as with LR IMHO. CO support team is very good and they respond very quickly also. However, the community around the world is much smaller. They also have a very unique allocation policy.

I'd download the trial for the CO and the new Media Pro and give it a whirl.

I'll stick with LR, hoping for version 4. If Adobe can improve performance, I could use CO more often again...

    Hope that helps.

  • alternatives to LogMeIn Pro for remote access?

Greetings.  Currently, we have systems in the United States, Switzerland and the Mexico that I supported via remote access using LogMeIn Pro.  We paid for a subscription before free LMI Pro has been abandoned even to appreciate the characteristics of LMI Pro.  But as LMI has eliminated this free service, it seems their subscription rate more than doubled each year.  We currently need remote access to 3 Macs and 2 units of Windows (ew).

Last year, we paid $174. for the annual subscription in support of these 5 systems.  I just checked on the price of renewal and it shows $349.00 for renewal.  This is getting too expensive!

Last year, I invested in ARD to support my mother MacBook and the MacBook from an old friend, rather than pay LMI for a subscription in support of these systems.  ARD was a good alternative for these systems, but it is not a realistic alternative to remote systems for charity I help support.  Partly because of the PC, also because what it requires port forwarding in the router and finally because I have to be at my computer to use ARD to access those other systems.  LMI offers the possibility to access systems through an iOS app and can be used by other members of the team of charity, anywhere in the world everyone is physically located.  That's why we have maintained the LMI Pro subscriptions for a number of years.

But with the perennial increase rate of LMI ridiculous (I think they can take their pricing of Obamacare), I'm on my eternal quest for an alternative to remote access.

    Can anyone offer advice?

Thank you very much for your review,

    Dee Dee in Florida

  • Free alternative IDE for development Playbook?

    Hello

does anyone know any good alternative IDEs for development of Blackberry Playbook?

I guess the requirements I'm looking for is the following:

    + Support ActionScript 3

+ Easy run to the device (via IP address)

    + Blackberry Playbook SDK support?

Eclipse will not work because it lacks proper support for ActionScript - unless someone knows a good plugin - and Netbeans, well, does anyone know any good plugins that I kept on downloading plugins AS2?

During my trial for Flash Builder Burrito is upward, I really want to pay the six hundred - correct me if I'm wrong - dollars.

    See this post studiochris ...

FlashDevelop and BlackBerry PlayBook development: the basics

for the discussion of the package FlashDevelop free & open source.

I installed it just now and it seems real interesting and seems to be well supported.

I will probably reconsider during my free trial of Flash Builder is in place.

In addition, it was mentioned on webcasts that RIM planned costs of mitigation on Adobe tools for developers PlayBook, but there is no detail given in time.  I think it is total logic for them to do and there are several ways they could help out.

For me that is not a question can I scratch a check for this or that piece of hardware, software or book - the question is where all this ends.  There's just an explosion of platforms and devices, and unless you already have a viable monetization strategy, it has the potential to be nothing more than an expensive hobby, and I already have expensive hobbies.

IMO the economic reality is that underdog platforms will need to continue to the community of developers of seeds in order to get their stores built on app.

RIM could probably do it in a way that is fair to all parties, for example:

    (1) work with Adobe to extend some trial licenses for active developers who submitted X number of apps in the last months of Y.

    2) don first corn cut from several hundred dollars to the RIM 30% from the sale to a developer for a license purchase.

    (3) just hard give a license to any developer showing a showcase app and/or a very popular app, be they free or paying.  Apps that show the platform and that users want it are probably well worth the wholesale price of a license.  Numbers of high download for a soft, free or paid, are the votes of users say they want more applications of this dev.

and I don't know that some creative thinking could give more options that are fair to all parties.

  • Alternating the problem of Capture DV Mono or stereo

I'm captures old video tapes digital (not analog bands although it happened there also) in v.2015.4 Premier Pro. From a single band that I captured several segments. The video is very good, in all but one of the only audio capture happens on a single 16-bit stereo channel as it should, but in the first capture of the Ribbon comes on 4 different channels 16-bit - Mono 4. Channels 1 and 2 are probably L & R tracks although I see no difference in the waveforms. Chanel 3 and 4 are empty. The original recording is in stereo. It is a bit of a pain because two audio tracks need to be adjusted independently and not as a single setting performing simultaneously the two L & R. I can miss some audio information too. Is there a way to set capture and audio settings always comes as a simple stereo channels, I can't find.  Or?

    Help appreciated.

    Greg

It is a good alternative.  Thank you.

But I think that I thought about it. I got to thinking a little deeper and more logically. It is only the beginning of a capture of Ribbon and remains so through the balance of this particular shot, no matter how long. In addition, I realized it only happens when I start the initially absolute capture of the band, on the head or the Virgin band HDDR. When I moved the band on a spot just a few images in the recorded video real audio capture although stereo. As I think about it, it makes perfect sense.  There is a signature on the tape for audio, or mono or stereo, as the capture begins. The default value must be mono that it holds in all of the capture.

    Problem solved.

  • Is there an alternative to session storage in the ADF?

    Hello..

Is there a good alternative to store values in the ADF session? What happens if the session is lost?

    Hello

the answer is simple, isn't it? What persists beyond information session?

    i. cookies
    II: tables of databases

There is no rule that says information must be stored in a session. The important use cases and usually the session contains only the data required for a session.

  • Alternatives to InDesign.  Suggestions?

As a professional, I decided, after careful consideration, Adobe Creative cloud would move a decidedly not professional for me to do - while being overpriced.  I already have my substitutes for all of my Adobe software - except one.  Who is always disconcerting is Adobe InDesign... What are the good alternatives (perhaps alternative is not perfect, but still acceptable)?  I think Quark but never used.  Some say that Mircrosoft Publisher, known as amateur as it is, has many more features than before and can actually work to professional publications.  What do you think?

It's a tough call. I'm just using Quark XPress again, after an absence of a few years and remembering how much I despise it!

Quark is also not a cheap date, of course.

Other options we of Corel Ventura and a thing called Ready Set Go, who was one of the early DTP pacakages and is still ongoing. Mac PC &. (Although it looks like it might need update for 10.7 or over Macs.)

There is also of Scribus, an open source Quark-a-like. I have not used, and I suspect that it's capacity will be limited, but it could be useful at a glance.

What kind of job do you have? What other applications have found?

Someone recommended an image editor that has good CMYK support here, but I can't find the thread.

My views on my first answer: a CAPTCHA is a acceptable but not-very -.
good alternative to solve a problem of crises. The writeup at
    Wikipedia is good:

    I heard about some alternatives:
-For the moment, the bots do not understand javascript or
    sessions/cookies. So, you can:
-Start a session. As long as your (probably human) visitor
cookies enabled (most seem to), you can set a session variable and
Check for that on the form processing page.
-Set a cookie. Comparable to the definition of a session. With both, you run the
low risk of losing messages due to visitors to the site with cookies to close
    offshore.
-Write a hidden using javascript (external) field. There is a risk
    visitors with js turned off.
-Add a drop-down list saying something like 'I'm not a bot:

Then in your form processing script, check that okayToSend has the value
    "it doesn't matter".

The ability to 'iChat' in one account AIM and Jabber for video chat or Audio Only WITHIN the app is no longer.

The Menu of the video has disappeared.

Screen sharing also went to El Capitan (in the House somehow)

We have text iMessages cats invoke FaceTime upper-right Details option.

Or the screen sharing application for screen sharing.

I know that they have diversified in other versions and there is one for Mac.

I never worked if they also did the Pro for Mac version.

I have also not clear if it employs different video formats for cats of PURPOSE compared to Jabber ones (Hello and AIM and Jabber on a Mac are essentially the same even if they do not allow connections from Service crossed) Jabber use Jingle and aims essentially to AIM and long ago was compatible with iChat.

NOTE Jingle is actually an add-on to Jabber/XMPP but is not compatible with GoogleTalk Google video or their plug-in for browsers.
